Grizzly GO776 Lathe - 1 Year Review - Unboxing, Using, Fixing, Improving.
This is a comprehensive video about the Grizzly GO776 gunsmithing lathe. The features that make this a "gunsmithing" lathe, are tighter accuracy vs. a traditional lathe, a 9" gap bed allows 18 1/2", the generous 1.57" through bore and a fully loaded threading selection (enclosed oil bath gear).

im looking at the same stuff i found a barley lincoln mig pro 135 with tank and cart for 400 so now wondering should i get that or a lincoln 140 or hobart 140 kinda leaning tord the Lincoln 135 pro because i get a tank and a cart but im checking the lincoln 140 videos out now lol
The 135 is a great welder, virtually the same as a 140. Seems like a better deal as well...
As far as the dipstick is concerned, get a brass plug and braise a brass rod into it. Then notch the end for the level indicator marks. Works the same and lasts much longer than any plastic 1 will.
I Have a F-911 and I've been trying to figure out these lines for a second Thanks. Everything you do to yours I'm doing to mine.
Glad the videos can help! Best of luck
How long does that argon bottle lasts you?
@creativestudio4873 Depends on how often I use the welder. Typically, if I'm busy, I can get around 10-15 hours of weld time while using 15 lbs. on the regulator. I keep an extra argon bottle around so I can swap them out with no downtime.
38:05 "don't worry about those runs, you can't see them from your house" is literally a metaphor for the world we live in today. 😂💯💯
@jasondedic "just call me max coverage"
How tight do you have to tighten the shock nut at the top?
@spareparts601 I believe around 35 lbs/ft. The rubber bushings gets squished but not flattened out.

I have many old tractors with rims with the same type of problem. This video just showed me the trick of not using a roller , ( because who has one) ( almost nobody) but, instead, using the bend it every 1/2 " or every1" idea to roll some thing I've always wanted one of those stand up presses that use a bottle jack anyway . Thanks for the idea
@@janbill79 it's an easy trick, works very well! Best of luck with your rims.
And had similar problems with the pto bearing. Front bearing went bad, easy fix, and the rear mount was a mess, but easy to remake and get her back on the road.
@ganoncollins1 I ended up doing a whole PTO Rebuild, with an improved tensioner and pulley. I made a video about that. What a problematic design.
Score for 200! Have a F935 (same as yours but diesel and some differences in thehyd system) with a 72" decl. Used it for years mowing 5 to 10 acres every week and snow blowing in the winter. Bought it with 700 hrs, now over 3000 hrs retired just for snow work. Does a great job with the 48 inch 2 stage blower. Heated cab is nice as well, warm and cozy! Now mowing same are with a cherry 1445 4x4 72" deck. Great machine. Picked it up with a little over 200hrs on it, pretty good for a 14yo tractor! Now put around 100hrs a year on it, damn good machine.
@ganoncollins1 I'm glad to hear these older machines are still putting in work! Nice rig. I have practically rebuilt my machine by now, it's been a long project.
Hi. The selector valve was used to divert the hydraulic oil to the auxiliary equipment before someone attached the remote lever unit to it. Without the auxiliary unit you can only use one at a time. I use it on my 5000 to switch between the 3 point and front loader. You can read about it in your user manual under “Auxiliary services control valve” or in chapter 11 of the service manual.
Great rebulid man. I rebulid and basically make whole new decks for the 14ft JD’s for our farm to sell. I would give one tip that will save you a lot of money. A lot of them high dollar bearings and seals from JD you can buy cheaper from napa and are better quality. And for the small models like this they might not be crazy expensive. But for the 14ft model there over 100 dollars while napa is like 20. Glad to see someone else do this kinda thing. Great job man.
@Redneck_scientist_kp_1210 Thanks for the advice, and thanks for watching. I like keeping the old stuff working.

Hi. What size flywheel do you have? I am also converting from a saginaw and have the larger size flywheel. Cant find much info on if the my6 bellhoysing will fit. Have not had time to physically measure it either. Any help would be great. Thanks
My flywheel takes the 11" clutch, with a 168-tooth flywheel.
My gear box pulley side, shaft had a woodruff key cut in the shaft and the pulley had a tapered split hub to remove play. Surplus center has variety of pulley dia and hub bores.
@@tcmits3699 do you know if it was a factory john deere unit? It looked like the newer models had a tapered shaft, so that must make mine one of the older ones...
@@marktolman6037 Yes it was factory. They make a 2 piece pulley set consisting of a split hub with a straight keyed bore and a large outer taper that gets drawn in a corresponding tapered bore of the pulley with two bolts. It locks the two on the shaft removing all play, like a collet. Go to surplus center, they have a variety of hub and pulley sizes. Good luck 🤞
@@tcmits3699 Thanks. I'll check it out!
@@marktolman6037 They are a little more expensive, but worth it. PS. My F935 had a differential lock lever on front of the transaxle, and a simple linkage was made, can't hurt to see if your machine is so equipped. Also mine had a second hydraulic spool under the right fender next to the lift lever spool. Really nice machine when you work out the bugs👍
I thought Z was up down aka height and there for your bed movement would be Y
@@hybridracers on a lathe, the z is side to side travel on the bed. It is different on a milling machine.
For a Chinese machine it looks to be pretty good quality. Probably paid quite a bit of a premium getting it throught Grizzly over buying directly from AliExpress, but with an expensive machine it is worth having a brand setting a certain quality standard. PS. Z axis is always vertical.
Very true. The warranty is also pretty good through grizzly, definitely worth a little bit there, plus dealing with a company stateside has its pros. Thanks
Nice job and nice truck. I have a 95’ Silverado with the nv4500. I’m about to do a clutch replacement myself since I don’t have that much money on me. transmission shop quoted me around $1200-$1500.I’m gathering all the tools I might need and in the process of getting a transmission jack. I don’t have a lift to get the truck up high so I’m just gonna lift it just enough on some jacks stand. Looks like it would take weeks to get it done but oh well. Thanks for the video.
Thanks. I've done what you're about to do many times on a creeper. I cut my teeth for many years in the driveway or concrete with ramps, floor jacks, and stands. Have to do what's necessary. It took me a long time to get a shop and a lift....but I do say it makes repair work much easier. Best of luck!
@@marktolman6037 thank you! Gives me more confidence in doing this job!
@@marktolman6037 I do have have a question, do I need to remove the exhaust ? Mine is also 4x4, can I take the transfer case all together attached to the transmission or do I need to take them out separately?

Book says John Deere GL5 oil, 80/90, 80/140 for the gearbox. That bumper is called a idler arm stop and should touch the idler arm before being tightened down. This is what the owners manual says. Great work on the deck.
@winnepoo9788 Thanks, and thanks for the info. It's good to hear.
Welding a longer handle on the nut wrench will give you much better leverage.
Parts that go together with John Deere Green paint are 2x what most other brands are.
Truth

@marklinder9085 good to hear for the future repairs!
Also used in vans. I've got one with the super long forward leaning handle. They can also be found in 4x4 applications that bolted directly to the transfer case. My manual calls for ATF fluid in the MY6.
@yodawunn6700 that's cool to hear they were used in vans too!
Good video thanks
Looks good! I had mine changed from an automatic transmission to a manual transmission. It costs a lot, but much safer!
That's a cool swap, how hard to do? From the select o speed?
Yes, you need a muffler above your hood! Especially bushhogging. That one will tear off in no time if you're in tall thick brush
Definitely
I am looking to buy a used bush hog and want to avoid paying super high prices for parts like you had to. Do you have any recommendations as to what types of bush hogs are cheap to service and get parts for? thanks for any help
Land Pride and Woods are a good brand to go with. I have a Land Pride bush hog and a Woods finish mower. Parts are reasonably priced and available, as long as you don't have antique models that are outdated.
@@marktolman6037 thanks. could you have just got a generic clutch and installed it on this brush hog? I see them new for $70 on ebay
As far as the older john deere cutters go, no, not without some machine work. It's how the clutches connect to the gear box that differs.
@@marktolman6037 ok. so I should just look for something other the JD. Can't I just hook a slip clutch to the pto shaft?
@narcissistinjurygiver2932 Absolutely. A lot of people don't use slip clutches, but I prefer to have one. If you are handy, any brush cutter will work. I have used my John Deere for years, and it's extremely heavy duty. At least the series I have, can't speak for newer ones.
Where is your service area? We need to move a lift from old shop to new location
Just the film I needed to see! thanks for your well made, explain it even better tutorial. And yes I subscribed.🤠
Thank you!
Great vid! When removing the sweeper and metal deal you just go under it with a screwdriver blade under it and twist. I've done a lot of them and it's the easiest way and doesn't damage the gland I was waiting for you to damage that 4-600.00 gland. Lol
Thanks
I was considering doing this job myself but having to cut the floors is something I can't square
Impressive, no bleeps necessary!
Your best video yet 🤣 (Just kidding)
*graceful bow*
🤣🤣🤣🤣 We need more of these. Did the camera survive the tree??
Surprisingly, it did. Broke the plastic case mount though...tripod got ruined.
When reinstalling the cylinder do you need to bleed the air out?
It bleeds by itself, just cycle the bucket back and forth a few times.
Iv b een dreading this with my 70s kabota. Hopeful to limp it along till this winter
I just had the same problem. I had a spare that sadly looked worse than the original. I got a custom hose from deere for $87 😡. I just assumed they didnt have it or would be $$$.
I have the same trans, I’d like to put in my 05 Silverado. It’ll bolt right up to the factory v6, I’d just be trading a 4sp overdrive auto for a 4sp overdrive stick. Plus it would be a cool combo nobody’s done in a newer truck like that.
That would be a neat swap
I'd say the ford toploader 4spd overdrive would be stronger than the A833😊
Maybe, but the A833 is no weaking!!

Hello Mark, I have a County Ford with a 5000 backend. I currently have gear oil in my gearbox and Tractor oil in my rear end. The gearbox and rear end do not have a common reservoir do they ?
