OIL! by Upton Sinclair - Chapter 2 - The Lease

The jungle has been one of my all time favorite books since the 1970s.....I have read it at least 3 times...Oil is another fantastic story of a time and people in
American history. I think Mr Sinclair is as good.....if not better than Dickens .....both show the working mans struggles, failures, victories and lives so un put downable perfect way........I would of loved history as a schoolgirl if it had been taught real like Uptons books. I heard he struggled with alcohol and lived in the Chicago meat yards 3 years before writing The Jungle and it brought change in working conditions as well as higher standards ds for processing meats......makes many modern books seem repetitive and shallow as well as a much smaller vocabulary. 5 stars for Oil. ...and the jungle. Next read Metropolis

I always had a book in my hands growing up......learned so much and still believe they are better...deeper than TV. I don't see many people reading anymore and it seems we have a very short attention span and less variety and imagination
I pray a new generation turns off phone and acquires a love for reading.....especially the classics like Mr Sinclair s. I have had my full of zombies and murders. All our advancement seems to have made us less intelligent and imaginative. Sad

I'm that lazy generation! I wish I had the patience to sit by a tree in nature and read for a while.
