My mom had a mower that was messed up from the factory. It never ran right, even when it was new. She fought with it for a few years before giving it away. It went through several owners before it quit running and sat in various back yards for a few years before it was given to me. I put a new carburetor on it, and I have never had any issues with it. I have a lot newer and fancier mowers, but it's still my primary machine. I guess the carb was just defective from the factory.
I knew it was going to be another carburetor cleaning video YAY! Well, almost lol Yeah, looks like that mower saw very little use of its almost 16 year life. Glad it will be able to be used for many more years to come, with proper maintenance of course.
I wonder why people buy expensive machines and never use them. No matter how many times I've seen it, it always surprises me. A few years ago, I got an 18 year old generator that had never been out of the box. I have a 16 year old Craftsman self propelled mower that has only been used once. It still looks brand new. The previous owner bought it and overfilled it with oil. She ran it til it quit, then pushed it in a shed and never touched it again. It sat for 16 years, and it took me about 30 minutes to get it running. People just buy stuff and leave it in a shed to rot. smh
Yes you can with a full tank of gas, you can unscrew all 3 top 5/16th bolts, and leave the 3/8th bolt on the bottom side of the tank on, and as you remove the fuel line from the carb, tip the fuel tank back, and it won't leak.
Another great carb cleaning video! Tom I see you love using that harbor freight battery pump have you used it on oil? I also have one but only have used it on gasoline.
Perfect example, you know the 449.00 red motorcycle lift from harbor freight 5 people in my general area, has them for sale, rusted, left outside they want 500 650 and 700, I messaged them letting them know I can buy a new one for 449....LMAO
I picked up a bucket list mower yesterday. I've always wanted a Lawn Boy 2 cycle push mower, and I finally found one. It doesn't currently run, but it's in decent shape and has good compression. I got it as part of a huge lot of parts and parts machines, and I only paid $30 for everything, so I pretty much got it for nothing. Anyway, I've never even seen one up close before. I had only seen pictures. I know they're aren't a ton of them still around. Have you ever worked on one? Any tips?
@@TomDobyMowerRepair Awesome. I will definitely be in touch if I need anything for it. Parts availability was one thing I was really concerned about on this machine. I've wanted one for a long time. I think they're cool. Thankfully, the seller didn't know what it was, or he could've gotten a lot more for it.
Auto choke, smh. I hate it. Most of the stuff I work on has been sitting for a long time, and I would estimate that about 90% of the auto choke machines I have worked on have had some kind of issue with the auto choke. It's just an extra problem to deal with.
It's funny, I've been looking for a air hydraulic table like the one you have, but around me they must be made of gold, even the basic motorcycle life you can get from harbor freight, I can get one new from there for 400 bucks, which I did, and will convert it to air.... but as soon as they are bought... Bam.... 800, I tell them, you realize I can get one new for 400 right... LMAO but for ones like yours they are rusted out hulks need new hydrolic parts, they want 8k for them, people around me are nuts, a black widow lift, 20k and up, they have had them for sale for years, and at those prices no wonder.
@TomDobyMowerRepair the cheapest one is on from the old Dover airforce Base the guys father bought it, it's needs everything, I have to pick it up it's rusted out, the guy wants 1k....LMAO, I'd sooner design my own and weld it up.
Hope you are nice and warm inside your shop tom
Great video Tom thanks
Nice job 👍 👍
Tom, I lived in Kentucky for a while and that’s how they measured their fish size, when you used your hand to measure the fuel line.

It doesn't like it was used too much over all those years.
It was dirty, but that machine looks like it has very few hours on it. It should have a lot of life left in it.
what happen to your other sharpner
