- I’m Ethan and I have been in Paddlesports professional for close to 30 years. The last 24 years has had me driving all over the Western United States serving dealers as a distributor and manufactures rep. I get a lot of knowledge from this job about companies and products. Today I go through they used Kayak, Canoe and SUPs online to try to show you what I look for and add a little color to some of the stuff you see online these days for sale.
We’ll that was fun!
Your know knowledge base is beyond impressive. Great info.
I think you’ll find the downturn is across the board, not just the boating industry. Finances are getting tighter for many and I think recreational and none essentials get hit first. I know it’s currently hitting the furniture industry as well.
Very good and informative.....
Thank you for this, I learned quite a few things! Pretty good selection and prices in your area.
Thanks for the feedback! Don’t worry, I will get back on the water next vid but there is so much used right now that I wanted to share what’s going on!
Thanks! Enjoyable shopping lesson
Glad you enjoyed it!
I found an eddyline nighthawk 17.5 carbonlite 2000 for 975 obo, what are you’re thoughts on this? I’m looking for something that feels nice and quick, good for putting miles on and that I could possibly do some overnight trips with. Any knowledge or advice is appreciated. Thank you.
The 17.5 is a full volume boat for larger paddlers so you’ll want to make sure you fit nicely or ok w Cadillac comfort!
Check the bulkheads, the ends and look for yellowing inside (means lots of UV). The price is reasonable, especially if I’m good shape.
Check where the seat back attaches to hip flange to make sure there is no cracking or stress. That was a potential problem area and hard to fix if the hip flange breaks. Happens when big folks fall back into their seat.
Good luck!
Ethan, I liked this. I did notice you missed a Dagger Alchemy as you were scrolling through there.
How cheap was it?! I bet it was priced at a level that didn’t catch me. You are right though, Sweet boat!
Y'all got a lot of inexpensive WW boats in your area
Everywhere!
I met Matt & Cam Broze many years ago when I was a featured speaker at the Maine Sea Kayak Symposium put on by LL Bean and Canoe Magazine. The boat they were pushing back then was the Mariner which featured an adjustable seat supposedly allowing you to adjust for different wind and sea conditions. It turned out that Matt used to work for Early Winters one of the early catalog outdoor outfitters attempting to mine the preppy/yuppie upper income market. I had purchased one of their Goretex bivy shelters and nearly froze to death when attempting to assemble it at -20F. The problem was that the fabric shrunk in the cold and the fiberglass rods became too long to fit in the pockets. I'd written them an angry complaint letter several years before and guess who had answered it…Matt Broze. Small world ain't it
Love this!
