So, a young rash king who simps a seamstress and marries her and that wife died due to failed assassination, after some years later; and he wants to revive her to a specific island, caused a massacre and successfully revives her yet the wife stabs him because she's angry and turns him into the ruined king today
Aphelios champion theme is another good one, champion themes are gems sadly riot doesn't spotlight them anymore these used to be login themes.

You asked so there is very quick tldr of his story:
Viego was never fit to rule as a kingdom, but after suddenly his older brother died he had to take the throne. He wasn't interested in politics but one day he feel in love in a peasant woman named Isolde. She was all that he cared about. After enemy natios tried to take over his kingdom Isolde was lethaly injured by toxic blade - and Viego gone crazy. He spent every last bit of money of a kingdom to find a cure but without success. Isolde died and mad king locked himself in a room with her corpse. When one of his generals soon returned from the journey to find help for queen and let Viego know about sacred Isles to the west of their kingdom. Viego instantly rushed there with his entire army, but when monks of the Isles refused to help (because his wife was rooting corpse at this point) he orderd the slaughter of everybody there and gone to the holy waters himself to attempt to bring her back. But all he did was snap her consciousness to her long dead body. Isolde from fear and confusion (that the unlclear part of the story - why would she do that, there is a chance that she never was happy with him) stabbed him with his own greatsword through his heath. It caused a massive cataclysm amplified by numerous magic artifacts turning the sacred isles into the home of undead and souls that can't reach afterlife and are trapped in magic Black Mist.
Hundreds years later - Viego stands once more, with one goal that once twisted his mind. He doesn't care for a destruction he causes along the way - Isolde is all he cares about and absolutely everything he does is to get her back.

Imagine someone wakes u up from a deep and comforting sleep without any dreams, now imagine u wake up in a body that does not feel like urs and instead is rotten and dead. Yeah i dont think she was too happy... Plus she was confused.
It must be scary to see a person who u thought to be dead walking around, it would be even scarier if that dead person is urself.
And also, I would like to add that the music box we here in the music theme is representing the music box of Isolde, that Viego took from some king in his color story "She".

0:00 - He becomes next in line for King after the death of his older brother, becomes an important character, yet he is selfish and carefree for he was not meant to have the responsibility
0:25 - He meet and married his Isolde, as the music-box was a gift from his wedding day and this references that love and happiness in his life
0:37 - We start hearing darker undertones in the music, indicating that their sweet life together will soon end because of Viego's inability to rule the country, his wife was poisoned.
0:52 - Return to Viego's original theme before he met Isolde, perhaps meaning she came I'll at this point and he was once again, alone
1:20 - Music intensifies, Viego is going into madness
1:31 - A sense of urgency is added, Viego gets desperate and spends all of the kingdoms resources trying to find a cure.
1:57 - After a spike in the sense of urgency, that feeling is quickly removed and more dread is added, Isolde has died
2:29 - After Isolde's death theme feature, once again we return to the original theme of Viego Alone
2:55 - Viego sails out to the Blessed Isles (where the cure is)
3:04 - He attacks the Blessed Isles in order to revive Isolde, a battle
3:23 - On screen, a semi-final draft of Viego's splash art appears, signifying him choosing who he is and dooming the Blessed Isles for the sake of his love, he puts Isolde's body in the water (the cure)
3:45 - The splash gains colour, Isolde became a wraith and stabbed Viego with his blade, Ruining the Isles, now we are in present day

the fact that he was able to capture Viego's story and personality from the composition says a lot about both the production and him.

Yep, exactly. The champion themes usually are like this and there's also a lot of experimentation going on. I would recommend the Aphelios theme cause, oh boy... That one is amazing
I love how good the champ personality is portrayed in the theme, and how well Joey manages to pick the story up from that theme
Viego was a king, a young and not very good one. He fell madly in love with a seamstress and made her his queen. When she fell ill he became desperate to find a way to cure her. His kingdom suffered as he left it in the hands of his powerhungry general (Hecarim). One of his subjects (Kalista) travelled the world to find a cure and came upon a hidden place, the blessed isles. there were waters here with healing powers. While the monks of the isles were hesitant to let a foreign power into their land they allowed Kalista to bring the queen for healing. However, when she returned, Viego's queen had already passed away. The now practically mad Viego brought his dead queen to the blessed isles. The monks said they could not revive the dead but Viego wouldnt take no for an answer and forced them to let her into the waters. There his queen rose once more. But it was not meant to be. Ruination spread over the isles, turning its inhabiants into ghouls. Undead and horrified, the queen took Viego's blade and stabbed him with it. Viego, now risen once more, not remembering his queen stabbed him, leads the horrors of the shadow isles (once the blessed isles) and the black mist, scouring the world to find his queen, slaughtering everything in his way for 'love'. He is pretty crazy at this point. Seeing his wifes face in everything. The music box you heard at the start was a wedding gift Viego had made for his queen.
tl,rd story: he loved his wife, is wife was poisened he tried to find a cure and went mad, his wife died he went completly mad, he went to some islands and killed everyone until they showed him some magic waters where he could "revive" his wife, he revived his wife but since she was in so much pain and so confused to be alive again she used his own sword and stabbed viego in the heart, she combination of the swords magic with the waters transformed the whole island and their people into undead ghostly things and now he is still looking for her because he doesnt remeber what happen

Your journey prediction at the end of your video was completely right. The item, "Blade of the ruined king" has been in the game for many many years. Viego, is the king that owns that blade. He has awoken for this season and this entire year of League of Legends is going focus on his journey now that he has awokened! You are 100

Great content as always. For champion themes the most interesting in my opinion would be Volibear, Vi, Ekko, Aphelios, Evelynn, Fiddlesticks, Ornn, Senna. Additionally Light & Shadow from Star Guardian 2019 event is really cool.
You're actually absolutely right about Viego not being "all there"! I'm actually impressed by how much you were able to glean from just the music alone with how CLOSE to his story you got. There are other comments detailing his lore but god I just wanted to point out how cool it is you got all that from the music, testament to how good Rito's music team is.
You nailed the story of the champion! Lately the themes have been more complex (in a good way). Aphelios is another one pretty cool kind of this one. But the old ones are good as well. Quinn's theme is my favorite :)
My favorite songs always sound like you can hear the story behind them, it has to be so challenging to tell a story without words and when you can guess it from the music it is so amazing. This sounds like someone broody is brooding and going to ruin the world if he doesn't get what he wants.
Generaly what they add in the background is concept art as they develop the champion and diferent iterations of theri splash art.
It’s fun that he doesn’t j ow the back story but still is interested and trying to find out the story through the song goes to show his skill and the people that made the pieces skill to convoy the story
The final part of the theme is a sample of the pentakill song blade of the ruined king. Which is just objectively cool
I love these kinds of videos. Seraphines is pretty good although its very much a different style from this, being more a pop song. As for other good ones people have been saying Jhin the virtuoso and Kindred the eternal hunters, and I would also like to throw in Kayle and Morgana, the Righteous and the Fallen which im honestly surprised I haven't seen anyone else mention. Also yeah the images are just concept art.

There are so many amazing champion spotlights, just going to give some of my favorites. Jhin, Kindred, ornn, volibear, camille, yorick, irelia, yone. :p
Currently, videos in champion themes is just a picture show showing some behind the scenes in the art design/character design.
Also his lore shortly summed up (as far as i know) is he used to be a king of an unknown land but travelled to the blessed isles. Who are known for their healing magic and just magic in general in order to heal his wife from a sickness. But unfortunately she had already died when he got there. He begged them to ressurrect her but the warned him she wouldn't be the same as he knew her. They resurrected her and she was just a confused spirit and in her confusion she stabbed Viego in the heart. Consumed by rage, he cast a spell that was amplified by the magical power of the blessed isles so that it killed everything and mader it known as the shadow isles. I t is now a land where spirits wander around and is just consumed by a dark mist that consumes everything it touches, forever trapping their spirits. Viego is constantly looking for his wife's spirit that has been scattered around the world and is leading the world to its en by moving around with the black mist just so that he can meet his wife.

The picture reflects more the design ideas and direction of the character before he is fully released so in a way it’s to show the process and ideas of riot designers until we see the final result at the end of the song (in other words the final splash art/the look of the character)

the story is about a young king in love who lost his queen, his love was so great that he spent all his fortune in finding a way to resurrect her, in the end he found a sacred well capable of healing and restoring life, when the queen ( decomposed) was resurrected, seeing herself so horrendous and having been torn from eternal rest, she stabbed her husband's sword in his chest, falling into the well, the place was so magical and so delicate, that it ripped the veil between life and death, plunging the whole place into "undeath", the queen's soul fled, and the specter king was cursed, mad and condemned to seek his queen for all eternity.
Now the king expands undeath from his heart, in order to conquer every part of the world, until he finds his beloved

The music box is a pretty significant part of the his story. It was a wedding gift. In his latest story he found it in a city, which he razed (send a horde of ghouls to kill everyone and turn them into ghouls) in order to get it into his hands
Champion themes are usually pretty detailed like this yeah , not all of them but most of them

Every champion since Lulu who was released in 2012 has a theme, so yeah... a lot of themes. Some of the highlights that I think would make for a good video based on their production are Jhin, Kindred, Sett, Fiddlesticks, and Ekko.
Its concept art for the champion, in a sense it could tell some other details about him that did not show in the final splash art

The visuals aren;t normally a story as such, but show the evolution of the champion's design through the splash art concepts
Most champion themes are very cinematic and is meant to communicate the champions thematic. Some champion themes however are more song like, a good example is the Seraphine one
Camille theme gives away the feeling of her character instantly, try it if you want.
The champion themes are musical depictions of who the champions are and what they do and their lore, Viego is basically the big antagonists for the world of League of Legends. And yes they all do have themes, and there are like 150+ champions in the game lmao.
My picks for themes you could react to though are: Pyke, Jhin, Camille, Fiddlesticks, and Samira
There are also other themes they make for game events and skin lines, Riot puts out a lot of music for just one game which is absolutely crazy
Fun fact: the last part (11:17) its a reference of another of Riot's works, The Blade of the Ruined King, a heavy metal song that was made by Pentakill (a fictional band just like K/DA but for metal). I found a little bit odd that they put a piece in Viego's theme that was designed for the genre that is the polar opposite of what they were aiming for here, but it still works pretty well.
The last part was taken from "The Blade of the Ruined King" from Riot's band Pentakill. The song is really long but it's my favorite Pentakill song

JHIN IS SUCH A GOOD CHAMPION THEME TOO!
So since i haven't read so far no one talking about it: Viego story is the one of a young prince that suddenly after his brother deaths becomes king, king of a kingdom he didnt care. The thing is that he was very selfish and never cared about nothing but himself... That until he saw her, a young woman of humble origin that he felt in love. Summarizing the story itself is written as an old tale so we dont know everything but that at some point the queen, isolda? I think. Fell ill and the king goes crazy trying to save her, so the people of the kingdom got angry at him bla bla, Viego sends kalista (another champion) to look for a cure, she found after a lot of years a fountain of life to cure the queen but it was too late she died long ago. Viego went crazy and hecarim (another champ) used this to kill and destroy everything in the kingdom. Kalista end up telling viego about the fountain (against her will) and Viego not just go there but kills everyone there xD and put isolde in the waters, she wakes up but as a wraith? Or something like that and confused and scared of not being dead as she should, she stab Viego in the heart. Viego wakes up years after but he doesn't remember what happened after he put isold in the waters (that she killed him) so Viego thinks that someone took her and ahe is looking for her in the lore right now. And even if I skip a lot its mostly because its too much lore about Viego xD I try to give u a general idea of his character so the song makes A LOT of sense!! Listen to it reading this and u understand his fall to madness.
Jhin, the Virtuoso and the Gun Goddess Miss Fortune themes are both really great.

Fiddlesticks champion theme would be a wonderful champion theme for you to react to.
If you want to react to more champion themes in the future I sugest looking at the reworked fiddlesticks theme, Vi's theme, and Aphelios's theme first.
You got it right on, Viego was a king which his queen was everything to him, but she got really sick and ended up dying and after that he went crazy trying to find a way to bring her back to life and when he somewhat managed to "bring her back" in her confusion for being in between death and life she stabbed him in the chest with his own sword.
