7:17 Kayle and Morgana haven't reunited yet. That scene was set in the past where they used to work together before they had their falling out. That bombastic side-eye from Kayle is foreshadowing the split between them in the future
yeah so the kayle and morgana part is the past and the tryndamere part is the present and then yasuo is the future and kindred is omnipresent as like a force of death its very cool

There are plenty of things people don't really know/remember. Like "Warsongs" album, for example, not much lore behind though . Or 3 albums of "Pentakill" (though it is not a genre i see you to operate in). Among other things. As a sidenote/personal comment (well, because this is my comment) to the point of 14:05 - i don't really think League is as toxic as people make it out to be. At this point it feels like it is more of a meme.
DUDE. Dude dude dude.....if our dear Mr. Meatball could get together a panel of classical composers and singers to critique Pentakill's albums....I could die of hype at that point.
The idea behind Still Here is that it is a vision of death in the future, past, and present. Kayle and Morgana are taking on Aatrox in the past, when they were still together, forshadowing the death of their relationship. The future is with Yasuo, in a potential world (which is literally for a skin tie in) where he continues to wander his entire life, evading the wolf till he finally gives in and accepts that graceful arrow. The present, is with Tryndameres constant fight against the Wolf, his anger literally making it impossible for him to die or accept death, only fading once he sees the love of his life coming to save him. Hes STILL fighting death but its not as steep a hill as it was before.
@@AldericMortelecq I love kindred's little "what are you" tilt of the head when she's fighting Trynd. Like she's asking Trynd "why are you fighting so hard, death is a mercy and I'll always be there for you."
to add to the death linking all scenes: it isnt just the death of their relationship in that scene, it is also Aatrox being a darkin and unable to die even if he wants to - in the transition in the fire, there is the sillouhette of the lamb on one leg, but not shooting.
@@Fynlanis My favorite part about that entire cinematic is that even Kindred ends up having to fight for their life. Tryndamere seemingly is the only person who can see them and is directly fighting death and not the circumstances around their death and mortality (due to his blood magic given by Aatrox). When he slashes at Lamb she actually had to fight for her 'life' for the first time. She even tilts her head afterward because she is intrigued at him being able to see her.
One of the most interesting bits about Jhin's characterization comes from his entire audio presentation; not just his theme song, but also his voice line delivery. Whenever Jhin speaks to _you_ , the Summoner, his voice is accompanied by a faint, angelic choir. As his Summoner, you are partially sharing his thoughts, and Jhin can hear this beautiful voice accompanying everything he does. He _genuinely_ believes that his craft, the act of killing people, _is art_ , and that by his own bullet he is making people into works of art. And what's also noticeable is that when Jhin speaks out loud to other champions, _that choir isn't there_ . The beautiful, angelic choir that validates his own ego is literally just in his head, and as his Summoner, he shares some of that mania with you.
It's a cool observation but at the time he came out summoners had been completely removed from all the lore. I read it more as a inner voice that he uses for himself to justify his actions. He is making true art and others are missing the bigger picture. Jhin is probably the best champion they've ever made in my opinion.
@@giuseppe9653 mind you, he vowed to never again make a weapon because it caused a lot of pain and always ended up in the wrong hands, so for a long time he only made like platters, tuning forks, and other household items ( but again those things were so well made and strong that were also used as weapons) so for him to make a weapon is very significant.
@@dev.kochevnik I mean a magic wand isnt quite a weapon, its a tool to guide magic. Same way a pitchfork can be both a farmer's tool or a murder weapon.
That Fiddlesticks rework video is a huge inspiration to me for my view of horror as a dungeon master for D&D - because it has a lot of narrative from the folk nursery rhyme style to the degradation of the story into the real eruption of screams. It's a real narrative expressed so well in a musical form. My other favorite is the Blade of the Ruined King from Pentakill - it does a great job of illustrating the fall of Viego and his transformation into the Ruined King.
@@FlutterSwag Those songs from Pentakill I had a really solid core feel, my favorite was Last Whisper, mostly for the chorus, but man, what a chorus! Lightbringer is iconic, but the acoustic version is just chef's kiss.
Pentakill is so good. i remember being there for their 3rd album virtual concert. man it was such an enjoyable experience. some true banger has been released by Riots virtual bands.
Videos like this remind me how much fun it is too listen to new music with a friend. When you recognize something interesting in the song and can discuss it with one another.
53:34 Josh: "I'd own a bᵃₖᵉᵣʸ........" Marco: "Wait what'd you say sorry you got cut out" Josh: "Oh, I said I'd probably own like a bᵃₖᵉᵣʸ......" humour.
In the Jhin song they've incorporated the bullets, gun and shots, but they've also artistically incorporated the cries of their victims and those mourning them as the choir, because Jhin sees it all as part of his canvas and he's reveling in their sadness and mourning, explaining the contrasting feelings.
I've had a fan character I've been kicking around in my head - a mage that's fourth wall aware, and views his world as if from the outside. His first encounter line for Jhin would be "I love the message. But I can't STAND your choice of medium." I think Jhin would actually respect him for that. Able to recognize him as artist and abomination both, disgusted with him for being one, while still able to acknowledge him as the other.
I can't tell you how amazing it is to have on a fellow artist who also happens to be a 10-year League Veteran. The League community hates itself so much so it's really nice to see cool people like Josh who are still passionate about the game.
I think its cool that Kindred gives a quick painless death to those that accept their end, and seeing yasuo close his eyes to the oncoming arrow while wolf is in the background shows that yasuo had earned himself a painless death through kindreds arrow for accepting his end.
@@naga7655 As much of a meme as Aphelios was when he was launched, I actually think that he is by far their best champion design. Number two being Jhin. They just had to tweak the numbers on Aphelios to make him not a terror on the rift.
yeah, there are so many awesome music and themes in LoL: Pyke, Camille, Irelia, Volibear, Kaisa are first, who comes to my mind. And of course newcoming Aurora theme sounds as good as you expect to be
Ah! Gwen's theme! It's a thing of real beauty - to me the only thing it might lack is a featured castanet, particularly at that first bass drum hit with the string back-and-forth before her main motif goes through. The classical guitar interlude feels so appropriate! And when the singer joins, it's really sublime and takes it to a new level of haunting ethereal fantasy. But it also gives the piece the one thing Gwen needed - her humanity! The Soul! Man, that piece makes me so thankful to be alive! It's a thing of whistful melancholy but also as it ramps up with the raising voice, you hear the drive of life - the Joie de Vivre and it's a splendid thing!
The catharsis is real. Obviously, there is only so much LoL music, so it makes sense that you have to space out your League music videos, but fuck if I have not been starving for more of your League content. I absolutely adore the Opera Singer/Industry Expert Reacts series and I always look forward to seeing their reactions and disparate perspectives. I know that you're favourite content on the channel is/was the Guessing (LoL Character) from the Music, but this series is by far the best and most important on the channel. It's just a shame there's so much good VGM that League music can't be in every instalment, I was really hoping we would see Viego's theme in the Composer Reacts video. Alas. So glad you got to share this with your friend, though, Josh was a great guest.
In the call. Ornn hasn't created any weapons in ages only ustensiles etc... (Braum for exemple uses a door created by Ornn as a shield). In the cinematic he creates the infinitty edge which is significant becasue it means he takes a stance or changed his philosophy
8:32 I get so overwhelmingly hyped by League's cinematics, I actually found my eyes moist at this moment. Marco is awesome. His friends and colleagues are awesome. His content is awesome. League of Legends, despite the contrary discourse, is awesome.
I HIGHLY recommend after listening to Viego's theme to listen to "Blade of The Ruined King" by League of Legends Pentakill. It carries Viego's main theme throughout it. The song title is also the name of that large sword that Viego has in his hand and a core item in the game. It also has some choir elements in it, the song.
33:30 i think Jhin's sadness comes from the fact that he's alone. He's witnessing - and creating - the most beautiful thing in the world, but no one can see what he sees. No one will ever apreciate his art, they'll feel disgusted by it, and that wounds him even if he doesn’t know.
I'm a little bit stunned Marco has not watched Arcane. It has a stunningly good sound track as well gives insight into the backstory of a lot of characters. (Though only 3 of them have themes atm to my knowledge Ekko, Vi, Jinx). Technically warwick too but we've only seen a teaser for him.
still here music video/cinematic is actually about past, future, and present. past = morgana & kayle before they had a fight (cuz kayle wanted to be like their mother and she wants morgana to be as well - so she disliked that she uses magic) future = yasuo being old present = trynda & ashe just shows that kindred will be there till end of time.
I love how Josh has some of the basic concepts of the lore and runs with it. And I love just how much more he would love the lore of he were to look into it
Many themes for examlle viego are specifically designed to incorporate their region into the music as well. Viegos music incorperates the Shadow isles and blessed isles themes, while adding his own touch. Its amazing. Qlso you can hear to the individual region themes as well in the 9 different seasons albums on yt music.
Not just weapons, the ENHANCED versions of them. The pinnacle of Runeterra truly. If each enemy matches each other in combat, it all leads down to the weapon of choice. Thats how big of a part Ornn plays
You are not alone. I have never played the game, but have been a LoL ride or die for years, exclusively because they consistently release the best music. To me, they literally are a music label that makes games on the side. Watching Marco react to these themes and give some analysis has been such a cathartic experience.
25:02 Funnily enough Fiddlesticks' theme is actually one of the few champion themes I have in my playlist. I like songs with vocals and the non-vocal parts of the theme are also still exciting.
As far as I know, Ornn doesn't really make weapons for people. Normally people just find things like the dinner fork that he made, and use it as a supreme trident (Fizz). Or his door as the best shield, (Braum).
One theme i was reminded of, and one they sadly dont use or reference anymore. The "Main theme" from the earlier seasons of league. Such an triumphant track.
It's before Kayle and Morgana torn apart. They both carry swords of their mother Mihira yet and are both making one justice aspect. Later Kayle gets Morgana's sword and becomes aspect by herself.
It is an interesting question. Arcane is a TV show based on the game, it's music is not from the game. Then again, neither really are these themes. They are ancillary to it, yet add so much. So who knows if he'll be willing to do the Arcane soundtrack. Me personally, I'm still hoping we'll get some reactions to the OST from Mageseeker or Ruined King.
@@dylancraven3979 with no disrespect to you personally, tbh every thing you mentioned about "Arcane" is kind of irrelevant. Not only because its the same IP (as IP can be "rented" and so on), but literally the same team (Riot Music) creating the soundtrack. So you can literally group them together as much as you want. I'm not positive on Mageseeker or Ruined King though. Since they are indie published by Riot, they might have original music. Or might be reusing other Riot Music products. Like "Warsongs" and alike
@@vitorossi7839 I feel like you are responding to something someone else said. I mentioned one thing about Arcane only, which was that Arcane is a TV show, and therefore not what one would think of as video game music. Kind of like the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. In terms of structure, orchestration, and development of themes, the LotR score is basically a symphony, but it is not considered as such because it is a film score. Arcane's music is about the setting and characters from a video game, but it appears in a TV show, so does Marco want to put a TV show's music on his VGM channel? That is all I said, it had nothing to do with IP. As for the same team making the music, that was my point. That the champion themes that Marco has been reacting to are not in the game, they exist outside of it, but are nonetheless relevant to it. So maybe the same would apply to the Arcane soundtrack. Riot Forge games, to my knowledge, have entirely original scores, using many of the motifs found in the relevant champion themes that the games are about. Ruined King has some incredible development of Viego's theme.
@@dylancraven3979 are you 100% positive themes are not anywhere in the game(s)? Because older ones were present during the login screen. And i know how long its been since, but they might be still somewhere in the game? I play with my music turned off, therefore dont know for sure. The main idea of my initial response was related to "Arcane is not a game" notion. While technically yes, it is not, i think this is too much of a technicality to actually pursue. Like, it's the same IP, same team, same characters (mostly). Personally, this position feels a little like a hair-splitting between LoL (LoR) and Arcane to me. That's what i meant. You can't really use "Fallout" the game and "Fallout" the series as the same thing. But "Arcane", i think, you can. Even though i understand where one can come from with the position you layed out. And i can understand two-fold when it comes to content creation. I am not deeply familiar with the whole LotR situation, so i might miss the mark completely. But as a sidenote: From what i understand, LotR soundtrack is not a symphony, but rather a collection of completely independent compositions. As independent as they can be, written as a soundtrack. However, parts of this soundtrack were arranged as a symphony post factum. So there is a soundtrack and there is a "The Lord of the Right Symphony". It might depend on the definion to the word "symphony" you are using. And your position on film scores and their place in the overall musical ecosystem. Last i checked, both of those are pretty fluid and are not set in stone.
Ooooh man, Arcane is a must watch in my opinion, if you have any interest in these characters, or just amazing writing and animation in general. Also the soundtrack is a 10/10 on all fronts. I bet I'm far from the first one to recommend it to you, but that's no accident, the show is just that good.
i know this is late. but kindred is in legit every act. Wolf is in the flames burning aatrox. Wolf like you said is in the woods for yassuo, but you see that its kindreds arrow that takes him, as he accepts his death. and then tryndamere obviously fighting death with his undying ult
I think it was my first time when i listen full version of Viego theme and i realised that i hear something oddly familiar from some of previous lol music. First i thought - no way they reused same music again slightly changing it, right? But then it struck me - it was taken from Blade of the Ruined King, Pentakill 2nd album, it's amazing!
sad thing is, i actually listen to the fiddlesticks theme in my car and people always give me looks. The song is in my playlist (i only got 1 playlist because i usted to drive hrs at a time and dont wanna fiddle with my phone while driving) u might be thinking i could just skip it but the theme is actually good and i will listen to it no matter what people might think on full blast anyday im no chicken.
The Gwen and Viego themes come together at 41:51 where Isolde is humming the music box’s theme from Viego’s song. It then quickly plays its inverse. If you play the song backwards during the humming, you will hear it.
One of the things I love about Jhin is that despite seeing death and killing people as art, subconsciously he is not happy with what he's doing, views himself as a monster for that and wants to be stopped/caught But alas, the artistic, psychopathic mask always overpowers that subconscious side of him
really enjoy the video guys , im a small streamer , play since beta , i feel the guy who played since 10 years alot , but man the guy that didnt play league is a Ornn Main , we need to forge that diamond !! your beard man :)
45:33 There are 2 more character in the main lore of the Black Mist Hecarim and Thresh. Kalista(general) and Hecarim(lieutenant ) were in the service of King Viego. Hecarim betrayed Kalista when she opposed Viego's madness, seeking to get back his wife, Isolde, by any means necessary. Thresh guarded the power capable of resurrecting Isolde, and betrayed his people by guiding Viego to this power, causing the Black Mist to appear.
The first one, Still Here is just insanely powerful, and it is set at three separate times in the history of Runeterra. First the past, then the future, and last the present. The common thread through all three is Kindred.
The humming end portion of Gwen’s theme is Viego’s theme, and Viego’s theme is the music box that relates to Isolde and his relationship before Hecarim ruined everyone’s lives in one foul swoop.
Been playing league since season 3 (2013). So I commiserate with Josh on that one. Eleven years now, and somehow I still enjoy the game and the IPs surrounding it. (I've spent the last several days glued to the PVE playing Swarm.) One of my "claims to fame" is that I've been playing for 11 years and never once had a disciplinary action taken against me. The worst I've had in 11 years is "You've disconnected too many times, you can't queue for 30 minutes" type stuff and that's when I was trying to play on hotel wifi, because I was living in a hotel at the time. Hah. The music Riot puts out is truly stellar. They have a good music department and they've branched out to work with some pretty great people. While not every release is to my taste (Starwalkin comes to mind), I've enjoyed pretty much every major track they've released for over a decade. That's a pretty damned good record to have. (Much like my own now that I think about it.) That said, I still play fairly regularly, whether it's rift, arena, tft, and now swarm. I've watched arcane multiple times. I've read a majority of the comics and a decent amount of the short stories. I'm no Necrit when it comes to lore, but I'd definitely say I've still got a lot of passion for the game and the IP surrounding it. :)
Kindred are spose to be death, split apart into two so that they would have a friend. The reason why Tryndamere can fight of death is because of his blood I believe, that's why when he rages his eyes turn red. It's a cool detail and I love that they used it in a cinematic!
My interpretation of the reworked fiddlesticks theme is that fiddlesticks killed a mother & daughter and is imitating their voices at first and singing this song that was in their memories. And then when he catches you he drops the facade and chases you throughout the forest, which is when it gods info full horror movie chase mode
When will there be more champion themes? There are many other very interesting champions yet to see, for example Bel'veth, skarner, kaissa, irelia etc...
I feel you. That being said, there are a finite amount of League themes, so I appreciate that there is some space between his reactions, means we get League content sustained over a longer period. Plus, there's such a wealth of great music from other games, I sometimes feel guilty always asking for more LoL themes.
45:29 The character you're thinking of is Hecarim. Thresh is also technically part of the shadow isles, but he's not part of the creation story Hecarim was one of Viego's generals, who he sent to find the blessed isles (along with Kalista) when Isolde was poisoned. Kalista found the isles and they all went there, but since Isolde was already dead the monks from the Blessed isles couldn't heal her. As a response, Viego threw a tantrum, ordered his army to kill everyone and Hecarim gleefully lead the charge, literally stabbing Kalista in the back in the process and turning her into the vengeance spirit she is now
This might've been mentioned in other comments, but I checked a bit and didn't see it so I'll say. The Still Here video is the Past, Present, and Future. Past of Kayle and Morgana, so this is over 1,000 years ago in Demacia. The Present was Tryndamere and Ashe, and the future is Old man yasuo (His possible death shown to him as a vision by Kindred I believe)
the erlkönig originates from Germany and the erlkönig is basically death who wants to get the son. The son has a fever, thats why they are riding so fast because they have to get to a doctor so not quite what you said but still very sad and even frightening to some
Imo best league character theme is "Daylight's End" - the loadscreen theme from way back when Diana was first introduced. It is also probably the edgiest theme in the game. If I'm not wrong most of her backstory was retkonned when they remade her kit.
League of legends had its highs and lows over the course of ita almost 15 years of existing. But the music ALWAYS delivered. We had champion themes ranging from classic to punk to electronic to scary to tribal and more, we got several music band albums (KDA, True Damage, Pentakill, Heartsteel), we had hype music videos, cinematica and live shows. There's a running joke in the community that Riot is actually a music company that happens to also produce video games as a side gig. I love that joke, but you can see where it comes from :D
Interesting. I don't know anything about what the creators have said, but The Path to Hearth-home never felt like Ornn's Theme plus lyrics. To me, The Path is the theme of Ornn's followers. It's the same melody, but the original is Ornn humming as he works, calm and content, occasionally pulled out of isolation; whereas The Path is the Hearthblood singing and the walking song feel, combined with the lyrics of always striving and being always just out of reach, was a reference to their culture's emphasis on perseverence and self-improvement. So, to me, they were never the same piece, they just shared the same melody.
@@dylancraven3979 correct. Path of hearth Home was his teaser, the song which his followers created (forged in a way) out of his theme over generations.

A couple years ago, some German dude joined Riot, as a sound engineer if I remember correctly. After some time at the company, he brought up the idea to produce music videos as ads for the game, and eventually created Riot Music as an internal label and production company. That worked out great, so he wanted to do a TV show, and because Riot Music was such a success, company leadership let him do his thing. So he talked to Fortiche, a company Riot Music had already worked with on the famous Pop/stars video, and the end result was Arcane. Riot eventually bought Fortiche, and that former sound engineer is now in charge of Riot's cross media projects.

I mean, you should really check out the voice actor of how he made the voice of Fiddlesticks, it's just crazy. Also he feared that Jinx would abadon him and thats why he told her some lies. But in the end Silco wasn't the clice villain. He was a complex character with issues and weakness. And Vi wasn't evil or totally wrong. Ηer intentions were good but in the end she would make things worse because she doesn't know the real Jinx.
oh... I wish marco has one of these sessions with Necrit or some other league lore enthusiast.
Yes please i second this
omg yes
Necrit would be amazing for this. Gained a lot of my interest in the lore from him. With his kind of knowledge over the lore, this could be an amazing video.
I absolutely second this so hard.
Necrit is also going through his gacha arc, so they can also branch off into Genshin or HSR music/lore too. :P
7:17 Kayle and Morgana haven't reunited yet. That scene was set in the past where they used to work together before they had their falling out. That bombastic side-eye from Kayle is foreshadowing the split between them in the future
morgana supremacy all the way.
fucking "bombastic side-eye" was not on my cards of describing league cinematic stuff.
yeah so the kayle and morgana part is the past and the tryndamere part is the present and then yasuo is the future and kindred is omnipresent as like a force of death its very cool

As a sidenote/personal comment (well, because this is my comment) to the point of 14:05 - i don't really think League is as toxic as people make it out to be. At this point it feels like it is more of a meme.
Even if it has degraded from the past, it is still as new player unfriendly as ever, if not worse. There’s no real tutorial, it’s all Trial by Fire
@@gamingandchill4186 getting into how League works is the most difficult part. after that it's basically CoD Lobby level imo.
@@DrkRyu yea that’s fair I guess
DUDE. Dude dude dude.....if our dear Mr. Meatball could get together a panel of classical composers and singers to critique Pentakill's albums....I could die of hype at that point.
nah league is definitely still toxic. like unless you turn chat and pings off youll run into it every game
The "still" is more for Kindred in fact. Cuz death will still be there, at any part of time. The entire video is about Kindred ^^
@@Dizzifying1 nah
Jhin is probably the best champion they've ever made in my opinion.
if i remember correctly in "the call" Orn is canonicly making weapon for the first time or at least first time in realy long time
I believe it's the first in a long time
@@giuseppe9653 mind you, he vowed to never again make a weapon because it caused a lot of pain and always ended up in the wrong hands, so for a long time he only made like platters, tuning forks, and other household items ( but again those things were so well made and strong that were also used as weapons)

The OG pentakill album has some fantastic story telling, "thornmail" being a personal favorite
@@FlutterSwag Those songs from Pentakill I had a really solid core feel, my favorite was Last Whisper, mostly for the chorus, but man, what a chorus! Lightbringer is iconic, but the acoustic version is just chef's kiss.

33:30 Imo to a degree, Jhin IS disgusted with his self and his work. Because it just...is...never...GOOD ENOUGH!
After all, he cannot be good... He must be PERFECTION
He's never four-tunate to be perfection.
"Perfection isn’t good enough" - Jhin, The Virtuoso
In the Jhin song they've incorporated the bullets, gun and shots, but they've also artistically incorporated the cries of their victims and those mourning them as the choir, because Jhin sees it all as part of his canvas and he's reveling in their sadness and mourning, explaining the contrasting feelings.
I've had a fan character I've been kicking around in my head - a mage that's fourth wall aware, and views his world as if from the outside. His first encounter line for Jhin would be "I love the message. But I can't STAND your choice of medium."
I think Jhin would actually respect him for that.
"Still Here" still makes me tear up every time it's so beautiful with the cinematic.

Good thing that you found a friend in a game who's had the same passion in music of this game produced
32:30 I'll let Jhin himself answer that question... "I am a slave to this passion"
Been playing League since 2009 and the music has gotten better and better over the years. “The Call” is my favorite.
In the call. Ornn hasn't created any weapons in ages only ustensiles etc... (Braum for exemple uses a door created by Ornn as a shield).
In the cinematic he creates the infinitty edge which is significant becasue it means he takes a stance or changed his philosophy
Banger lineup you set up Marco. Thanks for sharing your friend Josh with us!
8:32 I get so overwhelmingly hyped by League's cinematics, I actually found my eyes moist at this moment. Marco is awesome. His friends and colleagues are awesome. His content is awesome. League of Legends, despite the contrary discourse, is awesome.
bro i watch every episode to find no league stuff im so pumped for this one
I HIGHLY recommend after listening to Viego's theme to listen to "Blade of The Ruined King" by League of Legends Pentakill. It carries Viego's main theme throughout it. The song title is also the name of that large sword that Viego has in his hand and a core item in the game. It also has some choir elements in it, the song.
My favorite theme in lol is probably "Aphelios, The Weapon of the Faithful"
33:30 i think Jhin's sadness comes from the fact that he's alone. He's witnessing - and creating - the most beautiful thing in the world, but no one can see what he sees. No one will ever apreciate his art, they'll feel disgusted by it, and that wounds him even if he doesn’t know.
51:38 I believe youre talking about The Engulfed Cathedral! I played that as a concert band piece in highschool, its a very beautiful one.
The pauses are him taking aim followed by the shot, He's a sniper and an artist, the gun is is his brush.
The Debussy piece he's referencing during the Viego part is called "The sunken catherdral"
Nicely done! I just couldn’t think of it!
Yay, i've been waiting for this.
Also your pronunciation of "erlkönig" got me real good
yea me too, i did not understood a thing until he started tell the story and it clicked and i knew what he was talking about xD
Love that you started this with Still Here
I was hoping so much to hear Warriors as well! Loved the video and the analysis
still here music video/cinematic is actually about past, future, and present.
past = morgana & kayle before they had a fight (cuz kayle wanted to be like their mother and she wants morgana to be as well - so she disliked that she uses magic)
future = yasuo being old
present = trynda & ashe
just shows that kindred will be there till end of time.
I love how Josh has some of the basic concepts of the lore and runs with it. And I love just how much more he would love the lore of he were to look into it
Love Gwen's theme, it's the only one that has made its way into general playlists for me.
Thats how big of a part Ornn plays
i havent played league, im just here to gain more insight on breaking down music and hearing ramblings and thoughts from you two
You are not alone. I have never played the game, but have been a LoL ride or die for years, exclusively because they consistently release the best music. To me, they literally are a music label that makes games on the side. Watching Marco react to these themes and give some analysis has been such a cathartic experience.
League is a soundtrack that comes with a free game @@dylancraven3979
The real question is when will you do the Arcane soundtrack.
i would love that
It is an interesting question.
You have to do another one of these and do Pantheon. His theme would be perfect for this.
Very awesome atmosphere!
I really hope for part 2!
I wonder if you ever heard the Freljord theme, it released about 10 years ago when I started playing. I still think it's the best league soundtrack.
i know this is late. but kindred is in legit every act.

The Gwen and Viego themes come together at 41:51 where Isolde is humming the music box’s theme from Viego’s song. It then quickly plays its inverse. If you play the song backwards during the humming, you will hear it.

There are 2 more character in the main lore of the Black Mist
Hecarim and Thresh.
Seeing kindred in the thumbnail made me on edge we were gonna hear that kindred voice line/theme video. I cant get through that video without SOBBING

(Much like my own now that I think about it.)
That said, I still play fairly regularly, whether it's rift, arena, tft, and now swarm. I've watched arcane multiple times. I've read a majority of the comics and a decent amount of the short stories. I'm no Necrit when it comes to lore, but I'd definitely say I've still got a lot of passion for the game and the IP surrounding it. :)
Josh is so sweet 😭😭
honestly, this format of "exploring the music from X game with Y person" is very neat
Kindred are spose to be death, split apart into two so that they would have a friend. The reason why Tryndamere can fight of death is because of his blood I believe, that's why when he rages his eyes turn red. It's a cool detail and I love that they used it in a cinematic!
josh was really fun to listen too i'd love to watch him react to some genshin and warframe music, would be awesome!!
My interpretation of the reworked fiddlesticks theme is that fiddlesticks killed a mother & daughter and is imitating their voices at first and singing this song that was in their memories. And then when he catches you he drops the facade and chases you throughout the forest, which is when it gods info full horror movie chase mode

45:29 The character you're thinking of is Hecarim. Thresh is also technically part of the shadow isles, but he's not part of the creation story
Hecarim was one of Viego's generals, who he sent to find the blessed isles (along with Kalista) when Isolde was poisoned. Kalista found the isles and they all went there, but since Isolde was already dead the monks from the Blessed isles couldn't heal her. As a response, Viego threw a tantrum, ordered his army to kill everyone and Hecarim gleefully lead the charge, literally stabbing Kalista in the back in the process and turning her into the vengeance spirit she is now
ornn theme has an official version with lyrics that you could look into.
I would be sooo in for a "musical Arcane reaction" !
Ornn's theme actually has an official version with lyrics, the song is known as "The Path to Hearth-Home"

He is a huge League of Legends Fan. "Aatrox in the Sky" "Morgana Root" "Old Yasuo" "Kindred appearing" "Ashe transformation" Josh: 😶 x'D I can't
Volibear Thunder: 😌 good bear Little Smile for Pantheon, Ornn - I SEE WHAT KIND OF PLAYER YOU ARE , you should have shown him K'sante! Have a good feeling about this one
31:00 Marco: 😩
Yorick is another character Shadow Isles connected to the mist, you should check out his theme too.
I feel Fiddlesticks is one of the best reworks (visual and voice) in League history, period. I mean, you should really check out the voice actor of how he made the voice of Fiddlesticks, it's just crazy. Really amazing picks for tracks, hard to choose tbh, considering how many great songs are there. Riot is really a music company who makes LoL as an excuse to make music at this point XD
Also, Arcane! S2 is coming out soon so looking forward for you dissecting the music and such :D
I hope Marco one day checks out the Falconshield fan-songs for characters like Jhin, Aatrox, Viego, Gwen, and Kindred!
