Bro! I just got this chair a couple months ago from staples too 😂😂😂. It was on sale so I was like let’s upgrade haha
Great minds think alike!
@@KevinBreeze facts! Haha
Still like it ?
It might not be the absolute top of the line for gaming chairs, but compared to just a regular cheap office chair it feels like sitting on a cloud. Very happy with it.
can it recline?
@ilyTris not in the traditional sense, but you can lean back pretty comfortably
@@Goggalor1990 is it worth the buy? i’m thinking of purchasing today
@@Jtris I'd definitely say so, especially for the price
For those talkin about recline, there is no recline features. It has a TILT function, just like many other office chairs, and that it what people are referring to as "recline," even though it is just the whole chair tilting, as a reclining feature allows the backrest to go up or down independently from the seat. Tilting the chair requires pulling the lever out, then you have to shift your body weight back, so gravity leans the chair back.
Ive had had one for like 3 months now. Literally anything with some type of cushion was a upgrade compared to what I was using but I do like this chair.
It does have a recliner for those that have this chair. If you pull the same lever outward that you use to go up and down it will allow it to lean back in a reclining position. It will not lock and save a certain position but it will let you lean back and really soak up the full comfort of this chair
thanks man
I've been trying to recline it but I can't seem to figure out how. I'm pulling the lever out but it only goes up and down and not recline
@@natashaabraham6620 same, I can’t figure it out lol
Don’t push the level. Pull de lever either out or in and then push it down or up
@@Loveworldalways The lever slides but doesn't do much. Returning it tomorrow.
Respect for the review Kevin! I just got the chair at Staples a few days ago. At the store they wanted 199.99, but when I showed the customer service rep that it was being offered for 129.99 on their website, they price matched it and even gave a 10% discount on top of that. Overall, it's an amazing chair for the price. Very comfy and the recliner function is nice.
Glad to hear that you like the chair!
Hey there....on that note, I just assembled the chair, and it seems to be stuck leaned forward. I love it in the store, but i can't for the life of me figure out how to make it recline! Thoughts Daniel or @TechRight?
I figured it out - I had the back of the chair on the front of the seat, rather than the back where it belongs. Finally feels right, though the titling is really tight
@@martinledoux594 Martin, sorry for the delay in the response. I was going to recommend flipping the back of the seat; glad you got it working. FWIW, I did the same thing when assembling the chair, and it wasn't until the very end I realized the issue.
Since buying the chair, it's holding up very well.
@@martinledoux594theres another video on here where it shows how,its the same lever on bottom , push it in/ out
These chairs are modified and sold by a dozen different names. Cheap 'gaming' chairs and don't usually last long. I bought the same thing in black/white with the fold up arms it was okay but the foam flattened out pretty quick.
With that being said, do you have a recommendation for another type of quality chair at an affordable price? Thanks for your answer...
I bought this chair for my lady during the pandemic she was working from home and wanted a comfy chair. During that time there were alot of lay offs and in my freetime while looking for a new Job I got back into gaming for a couple months to pass time. I got a new job and she went back into work so I ended up making my own gaming setup for my down time after work and I took over the chair. I'm about 6'2 over 250 lbs and his chair has held up since 2020. I use it almost every day after work for hours playing games and it hasn't torn or got loose etc. When time comes to get a new chair I will most likely just get another 1 of these.
i have this chair and although it was a bit of a pain to assemble, it was still very much of an upgrade from my last gaming chair
I just picked one up. Happy not to spend $300 to $400 on one, it was on sale $149 at a Columbus store and I got to try one out at the store first before choosing. The Vortex was much more comfortable than the Emerge Vartan. The Vartan was too snug because of those seat wings.
I just got this chair a few days ago. My main complaint about is it the back sits TOO straight. Even after I cranked the knob as far as possible to get the "softer" recline. Does that ever break in? I have back and neck injuries. This is fantastic for the lumbar and hip. However, since it doesn't recline with some ease, it jacks with my upper back. What is your opinion of that feature?
I figured it out. Pull the height adjustment lever outwards to unlock the recline
@@the_platapus3522 If you loosen the knob and slide the lever outward there is a little bit of recline. You really have to push with your feet to get it to recline just a little bit. My ankles get really fatigue doing it. As soon as you stop applying the pressure it goes right back to where it was. Returning it tomorrow.
You probably put the seat on backwards
Bought mine today (blue), I am really enjoying it!
I just got this chair on sale. I paid 99.99 dollars, plus tax. I picked the black and white color. So far is pretty good and solid. And I think is a good value.
Still like ?
At what store ypu got it for 99.99$ please
"Kevin got mine at Staples 2 months ago almost. easy to assemble ,but I recommend using a small llKEA drill for quicker assembly for attaching the back to the chairs base....
I'm happy with the chair and thinking about buying another one in red or blue!!!!
This was my last chair, don't recommend for people who need actual support for their back. Any of the very little it had at all wore out within 6 months of daily use.
Thats a you problem
Haha, I have this chair, and this video was in my recommendations! I got it almost a year ago as of this comment, and it's still holding up pretty well. My chairs typically give out after a year because I use it daily for hours, so I'll see how long this one is going to hold out for! I'd recommend it, but personally I prefer office chairs (I have had a few gaming chairs and a few office ones) and the office chairs always seem more comfy to me.
just got this chair today and it legit broke in 6 hours LOL front spring popped and now it goes down whenever weight is applied at all to the front of the chair
It's so funny that I decided to buy this chair and now I have this video recommended to me
I got that chair a few months ago from Staples in Lynnwood, WA. I like it except it will not maintain the height I set it at. Every time I get up, the chair either rises or lowers, on it's own! I purchased the extended warranty, but when I contacted the store, they said there was nothing they could do.
Lousy customer service from good ole Staples!
how has the chair faired over the last two years?
Originally...I was set on saving up for an Anda Seat Phantom 3 gaming chair( but since I was so frustrated with my depleted gas cylinder)...I just chucked my old chair in the trash, so I'm without a chair for my workstation. I also like the fact that I can return the chair to my local Staples if need be, so there really wasn't much of a debate in that regard. I LOVE that the arms fold up(as during long sessions, I need to sit in an Indian-style formation!) I really appreciate your video appraisal of this chair(as I already feel like my online order from Staples's website, was a sound choice!) It's funny how the price of this chair fluctuates so much(as I paid $149 2 days ago, & the price already went up $10....WTF?
Just got mine today, 159.99. It's a really awesome chair, Beats out my Amazon chair I got for 80$ that broke in 3 years because I sat on the edge of the seat too much causing it to bend forward. (sometimes i'll lean back and stretch my legs forward causing weight to be on the edge of the seat which ultimately killed my Amazon chair over time)
This chair doesn't have many bells or whistles. No lumbar pillow, No foot rest, No adjustable arm rest- you can just fold them down or up, and the chair only has a tilt function, the back doesn't actually bend backwards or adjust.
despite being just a gaming chair with a quality soft leather feel to it, It works perfectly for me.
I just grabbed this chair as well. Same reason as you, I wanted to sit in it before I bought it. On sale for $160. I wanted purple but settled for the blue cause I needed on today 🤙
I've had this chair for almost 3 years and the only problem, until recently, was an arm that broke. The company sent me a new one. Recently the hydraulic lift won't hold so I can't sit in the chair. I like the height as I have problems getting out of a chair when my backside is lower then my knees.
Both my arms broke in months. Never getting a gaming chair again. Regular cushioned office chairs last longer and are more confortable
I just got this chair, and for someone that is big, it's trash. The bracket that mounts the seat to the wheels sits on the back of the seat instead of the middle. What that means is that when you sit in this chair it leans forward, like sitting on the edge of a diving board and it leans forward. Other then that the chair is ok, the cushion is not good either, after long periods of time you ass will hurt. My feet hurt and throb after a few hours because I need to plant my feet to support my weight in order for the seat to not bend forward. I tried tightening the tilt knob and loosening it. I tried tightening the screws on the base as hard as I can possibly turn them. All don't help. If you lossen the knob at the bottom to give better tilt it's a double edge sword. Meaning you will tilt more forward but able to tilt back. But the tilt back is almost non existent because the spring is so tight that it springs the chair forward and leaning back in this chair becomes a chore. Honestly I would recommend a chair that has multiple levers to adjust the right angle you like to sit and lock it in place. It gets really annoying leaning forward and sliding off this chair that I end up crushing my ball sack. Unless you are thin and weigh very little then this chair or any chair for that matter should be ok. But for bigger people, this chair is a nightmare
I was really curious about the arms being adjustable, as a musician I tend to play guitar while sitting at my desk pretty often and the arms can get in the way but I like the option to use the arm rests when I’m just doing casual computer work.
What makes it a "gaming" chair? The funky colors? Since when did gamers need a special chair vs. non-gamers?
More about the comfort when you play for a bit
@@silenced5193 The same could be said about sitting for hours typing reports.
Gaming mice usually have extra buttons that you can map more game functions to, and special options, like an aiming button. Gaming keyboards usually handle multiple keypresses better and allow you to turn off keys that might disrupt a game if you press them by accident.
There's nothing about this chair that specifically helps gamers.
It's a gaming chair because of the comfort and styling. That chair would look outright goofy at a dentist's office. Functionally is the same as a good office chair. Just more of a fun look to it.
@@t.lledsmar6052 So in other words, my initial assessment was correct; The only thing that makes it a "gaming" chair are the colors.
@@lurkerrekrul yes. It's not a gaming chair because it gives any gaming advantage. It's a gaming chair because it can't be anything else. Of course, it could but it's not a professional look. Oh there is one thing I can think of that gives an advantage over an office chair of this comfort level. Lack of "plush" in the headrest, while still having a very usable headrest. Most office chairs have big puffy almost decorative headrests that when you lean back into them they would knock your headset off your head. One could argue that the armrests are generally better suited for controller than keyboard but that's less a thing IMO.
Just tried it out. Once I get my new apartment ready this will likely be in my office
Looks like a nice chair, but then they all do to one extent or the other. One thing you can't do at the store is to give any chair the gamer test. Since I stay on my PC playing games for many hours, I use the eight-hour test. If the chair still remains comfortable at the end of the trial, it passes. The negative with the chair is that the arms only have two positions, full down and full up. The arms on my Staples game chair allow me to raise/lower and move forward and backward. Great review, and I'm putting you on my subscribe list.
Who in the world sits 8 hours straight? 😧
@@jonathan8299cmon man
I really want the white one, but they don’t have it anymore 😩😭
I got a blue one over a year ago like june 2021, around 8 months later the chair started sinking and its still doing it to this day. I love this chair but its unfortunate it started doing that. The quality is pretty crap ngl but comfortable imo. I feel like getting a red one now but I have a feeling the same outcome will happen again.
Comfortable, now in my second - but cheap wheels bend over without a pad under it - don;lt use on carpet. Second chair the wheels are better but the piston died the first day. Still comfortable, broke in just the right spot. But not top quality.
I bought this char a few days ago I bought the purple one I had to return a very exspensive chair to get this one i had a 3 year warranty on it the hydraulic pump went out it so staples gave me this chair I have only had this now for a few days but I really like it it gets two thumbs up
Just got this one today but looking for a chair cover for this, trying to keep it protected from my cats, any suggestions?
Me too…I would really like to know what to use to protect it from my cats
The leather on the back is literally over the screw for me
Can't assemble it. I'm taking it back tomorrow and asking for a refund and/or replacement because some of the foam was ripped from the chair
I got the same char two days ago I love it and same color
Anything is better than sitting on my bed with zero back support lol. Getting ready to pick one up
But did you know if you pull the arms foward you can lean back or lock it ?
Might pick this chair up today! Thanks for the review!
The red fake leather on arm rests is so thin it wears out very fast, not good.
Thanks just ordered one
I am on my second one and ready for replacement. I really like the chair, but they tend to wear out the elevation mechanism and allows it to slowly go down and wobbly. Both lasted about a year of daily use.
Often you can buy a replacement gas piston. An probably a better one. Usually a longer or shorter option too. But it probably varies an not if they make some proprietary crap.
Same
😻Good Advent 🎄Merry Christmas🕊 My 4 cats would make quick work of any chair 😹😹😹😹
Thanks for stopping by!
I have the Emerge Vartan, the Vortex looks way better tho. Especially the arm rests.
i hate the adjustable arm pads on the Vartan, they can't be locked in place.
How do you get it to recline? I just brought home today. I have tried the bottom knob fully turned both ways and it doesn't make any difference. It wont recline. I should have tried this in the store but I didn't. So always try it out to make sure everything works. I will be returning it tomorrow.
Mine is slanted too much backwards and it does not seem to have a recline feature?
Didn't mention whether the arms are adjustable up or down, how the leg or lumbar support feel (most critical). Not helpful...
So it kind of seems to me that there's really no reason to call it a "Gaming Chair" other than the fact that it's comfortable to sit in while gaming. That is, there are no aspects to the chair which allow you to interact with gameplay. Is that correct? Sorry, I kind of skipped over the video to see if there was a portion of it where you were gaming while sitting in the chair, I didn't seem to notice anything.
I had the blue one but it lasted less than one year before falling apart. Can't recommend...
Bonded leather is not leather, it's a composite that falls apart and it can't be repaired. Not worth it
well done. informative
Does this chair recline? I saw on the Staples website it showed the chair reclining nor did u mention anything about that?!
THANKS :)
How much for that plant in the back? Review on that soon?
hllo, i got the same chair but im struggling finding how to recline, can you help me please?
will this chair explode
I really want to get this chair but it sits too high off the ground. I going to try it out with the wheels off.
Just ordered the black and white one for 99
The link isn’t working 😕
Thanks for pointing this out, I appreciate it. I just fixed the link :)
This is the worst chair I have ever bought. I bought brand new at Staples and the seat piston is totally defective. The seat never locks up high, keeps going down all the time. I brought the chair back to Staples for assistance and they turned their back on me.
from what I could see the rollers on the chair are to small
it isnt wabbley cuts away when it wabbles and you can see the wabble in other parts of this vid GG
I have an emerge chair and theyre not worth it. Made very cheap. Just buy a regular cushioned "executive" chair and you'll be happy. Gaming chairs are very over rated. Dont waste your money
Just ordered mine. My back killing me 😫
Where is that chair made?
I bought on and I don't find it to be comfortable at all. ☹
I have this chair and I'm having an issue finding a piston replacement. Has anyone been able to find one
Do it recline?
Who would want a chair that has staples emerge ?!!
I wish the chair leaned back easier
Got it for $75 about a month ago. It is always on sale because the 199 is a fake amount to get people interested in it.
At what store please thx 🙏
@@quisuis1 The sale is over. Staples
@@MortuusTemplum oh... darn ok.. my son want it but I dont want to paid 200 for it. Guess I wait then
Here I thought from the title that staples were emerging from the Vortex chair....
I can't find a replacement part for the Seat tilt Plate any place. It is an odd size. mine broke right were the gas piston meets. If anyone finds the exact seat tilt replacement at someplace like amazon, drop a link.
Bought a different brand gaming chair with a slide out leg rest. The leg rest was a damn joke as it only extended far enough for kid, not for an adult !
I have this chair 🙏🏽
How do you recline it
Staples went above and beyond to sell a chair like this to gamers
Yo is this chair suppose to have a reclining feature????
It does not
just got this chair haha. it was on sale for 90 dollars off!!!
My mother loves this chair, she got the purple and black one on sake, it is great for her sewing and quilting.
Don’t say a word about incline. I thought it had incline.
yep almost word for word, and so much expensive trash being pushed right now, trying the chair makes all the difference when they make returns sketch and sometimes neigh impossible sometimes by design -_-'
my one gripe with the chair and i'll be honest the price and quality for the $ outweigh what i'm about to say anyway.
but i'm probably 1 size to small for this chair i'm lil over 5'9 it's a strudy chair the chair height can make up for no adjustable arms if you dont mind dangling your feet or you're 6ft am i crazy or do the arms stick out just bit much though? i like the arms but i feel like it's not very restful and it could be previous chairs i used but this feels like i have to hold my arms slightly out at an angle and it's just not restful for my shoulders.
that said i bought this chair mainly b.c price and quality plussss the arm lifting function is a life saver if you play shooters or something the requires steady arm motion, you can lift the arms and tuck yourself into smaller desks you'd otherwise be forced to sit at arms length from the pc, can't tell you how bad 4-6hrs a day messed me up i can be pressed flush with the chair if i turn the arms up and it gives a massive back support boost i digress apologies for the tangent good review hope others find this helpful imo if you get 2yrs use it's worth at this value and i expect it'll outlast that (about a year into mine and i sit in it 5-10hrs plus a day)
p.s this value being on sale for 100-150$
Plastic base will not last. It's the carpet that stresses at the wheels. I had that chair in black and white.
All u need to do is put down a chair mat ..they are so inexpensive there is no reason not to
@@UsernameUnkwn21 My chair has a metal base. No issues in 3 years.
@@lindah6954 I was simply responding to the fact that you said that carpet stresses at the wheels... well if that's the case there is a solution for that..
I've had this model chair for a couple years and it's the most uncomfortable chair I've ever owned. Seemed ok in store, but once I got it home I found that the seat is not padded nearly enough and it's almost like I'm sitting on a flag slab of wood and my butt goes numb after sitting in it for about 20 minutes. I have to put a pad under it to make it tolerable. Never buying this model again!
Arm rest don't last come loose within a short time very disappointed
Currently 'on sale' at Staples for $159.99.
I’m convinced that this is the real price and it’s just a tactic to say it’s on sale always. It’s currently on sale for that right now lol.
all the chairs at this price have the same low life expectancy, I've had mine for less than 8 months and the main shock is worn and now the seat is a rocking chair also...but side to side...squeaks. Poor general build. Best to opt for $300 or more chair that is better built, with stand some abuse and still perform like new, 5 years down the road...or buy one of these throw away chairs like I did six months ago and now need to replace it... why do they sell such crap. I say a 7 year warranty on all products so that manu will design and build to last...reducing stress on resources and landfills.
DO NOT BUY THIS CHAIR FROM STAPLES. I bought this chair from Staples and my friend across town bought the same chair from Staples, and both of these chairs were defective. The chair piston is no good. When you sit in the chair, the chair sinks lower. The chair won’t allow you to sit at a comfortable elevation. It always sinks to the lowest points. I went to Staples and told them of this problem, and they refuse to do anything about it both my friend and I wanted a good gaming chair So we went to Staples and ended up both of us buying a defective , broken new chair.
I use to work at a Staples and I can honestly say for certain without a shadow of a doubt,.......... Staples sucks! (Buying and working.)
unbelievable how they labeled the ugliest chairs ever as “gaming chairs” and they sell like hot cakes…
129? , when 1989? 😆
It's just a cheap goofy looking office chair, like all "gaming" chairs are. I can't believe grown men actually sit in these and don't feel embarrassed.
Ouch!
You didnt talk about the tension. Sheesh. Down voted.

I don't need to watch this to know that chair is a cheap piece of sh*t. It will fall apart like any $200 chair from Staples. Laughable.
