I like how Justine didn't span apps with the hinge in the middle. She always switched it to compose mode intentionally just to help our view of the device. Points for that.
She lets the pictures speak for themselves and even compared them favorably to the iPhone without calling them "trash".
She's positive all through even with things she doesn't really like or are disappointing. She kept it clean.
Keeping it clean is not always the best. I want to see where the device is mediocre so I can deal with it myself. Too clean = ad.
Seems like your speaking of someone in particular.. 🤔 but everyone is entitled to their opinions
Thanks for actually reviewing the device instead of just bashing it, Justine. It’s definitely for a certain type of consumer and it won’t please everyone, but I like it.
I as a Microsoft fan that has multiple surface devices want it ngl but there's no denying it's overpriced underdeveloped shit right now

I think a lot of the issues can be addressed in software. It obviously isn’t the highest spec’d phone out there right now but it also isn’t a phone... 🤷🏼♀️

MKBHD found it IMPOSSIBLE to "switch" between camera modes and ijustine just did it back to back like 3x 😂
Justine was born in a different era, we've had devices with horrible interfaces, and can now flip a switch easily

I feel like MKBHD is a lot more realistic, practical, and honest with his reviews. He notices the negatives that most people would be bothered by and isn’t afraid to state those. He’s also not afraid to tell his audience not to buy something. That’s why I really like his reviews.

One thing that I love from this woman is that she can do it all. Editing, camera and drone operator, color grading, lighting, etc. I love how she is involve in everything she does.
Thank you! I actually edited this in one day yesterday starting in the morning.. then shot all the pick up shots for a few hours, and finished editing by 1am haha. Thankfully I do have help shooting and editing most of the time!

I've seen several reviews of the the Duo and this was the most in depth and, so far, the best. This is how most people would use this device. Thank you.
The app groups is a genius idea, and that's coming from someone who isn't on the whole foldable train.
It's not new, Samsung has that for years, but it has a better use on separate screens.

I have app groups on my S10. It's very useful even on a single screen. The software split is one app on top, one on the bottom en it works very well.
I would have liked for the Duo to combine their two screen split screen with Samsung's software split. Could be nice to group three or four apps that way.
I agree and thankfully apple is not going to make a foldable phone.

@Fyn Kozari I totally agree with u I will also purchase it after some years. I have the iPad Air 2 which was released in 2014 my father got it for me the day it was released. It has been 6 years with my iPad it works perfectly fine the battery life is just ok but the rest is awesome.
And then you buy a iPhone and don't blink an eye... Cool story, bro.

iJustine, thanks for giving the BEST review of the Duo. I was divided and with the Windows and some tech pages being so hard on it for issues that I felt were minor. You are the only one that really went over the phone itself and not expectations. Seemed a lot of reviewers wanted to find things wrong with it.. You on the other hand just wanted to explore and use it.. Now to get go get mine.

I was a little tense about this review until I discovered that Justine's approval of the phone ultimately hinged on her affinity to use the phone's tent mode.

This is still the absolute coolest phone on the market right now even though it needs a couple of software updates.... After those this device will murder most devices in the mobile market.

I have seen seven other reviews, and I can say your review is the most well done and most thought out youtube review of the DUO. You never box's it into the whole phone thing. You gave the facts about the DUO and real world applications.

I was about to cancel mine after seeing Marques Brownlee. He did a good job on the pros and cons but Justine just revived my excitement.

Yeah, the issue is with comparing the device to regular phones.
This is the first of its kind, and alot of issues on the pre-release Duo's have been fixed. Definitely interested in what microsoft will do in the future.
The quality of this video is incredible, this is why I love Justine☺️

It's a baby, and it's still in it's infancy. So they probably did that to cut costs rather than just not having it at all.

It's interesting how no reviewer has talked about the experience of answering calls on this device.. like is it a hassle that every time we have to open the phone to see who's calling, and fold it all the way back to talk? Is it too wide and unwieldy to hold against your ear when speaking? (even when folded all the way back)
Or does it not matter cause no one calls anyone anymore..
I use my wireless buds to answer phone calls and my watch to see who's calling. Sometimes I let the buds tell me who's calling. Don't really use my phone unless consuming media or doing work that actually needs a screen.

I preordered and given the first reviews I was concerned. But then I found her review which was actually useful and felt much better. Will know a 100% on monday.
Charles Goin I hope you love it as much as I think I would, it’s impressive for a first gen phone. Microsoft are doing good things with their Surface line of products, I preordered the Surface 2 headphones and had that sinking feeling watching pre release reviews but at home they’re my go to headphones now.
Feel free to post an update on the phone mate, I’d be interested to hear from someone who’s spent their own hard earned.

iJustine literally is the only one that actually used the device. Explored it, and continued exploring it DURING THE VIDEO... Much respect, that's a real review.
Important to recall that this is not a primary device, it's a Surface device. Even Microsoft has stated that this is not a phone to replace your phone, it's a productivity device that also can make phone calls.

YESSS, I said the same thing a couple weeks ago during Engadget's first look at the hardware !!
The "peek mode" is helpful, but it's no substitute for an outer, dedicated AOD display.

What i've noticed is, this phone, when folded open in single screen "mode", made me open up to the idea of a wider almost micro tablet shaped phone. Release the Surface Uno!
Edit: After seeing the pictures and video here, they are solid. Amazing? No, but that's alright for what this device is and as a first version. It can and will improve with software updates and those fixes along with hardware will lead to a better V.2. If i had an extra 1400+ tax laying around, I'd probably pick this up as a tablet with data plan lol.
I like using a tablet as my phone so this is perfect
