Wherever you go, you have to take YOU with!
It’s a very true thing to know that our own happiness is a simple self made decision. Most folks let outside events and people control the happiness….I’ll be damned! I AM HAPPINESS,lol!
... Yes... We make our own peace wherever we are... And the most exotic location is the closest beautiful spot in nature.
What you can't escape in your ordinary life is company. You can't meditate or clear your mind when others around you are tasking you with time consuming tasks and chatting you up with unwanted conversation.
I admire how inspiring your content is Ryan. So good to be happy.
Seneca was an incredibly wealthy, even famous, man-yet he was a Stoic. He had many material
things, yet, as the Stoics say, he was also indifferent to them. He enjoyed them while they were there, but
he accepted that they might someday disappear. What a better attitude than desperately craving more or
fearfully dreading losing even one penny. Indifference is solid middle ground.
Yep. Cant escape yourself, so might as well learn to love yourself and stop running.
Many people are trying to runaway from their problems but don't realize they are the problems either from their own actions or inaction. Wherever you go, there you are. Change yourself, you change your life.
Cliche
Oh my gosh, I experienced such a wonderful escape last night and again this morning, all in the paradise of my inner being, falling so energised and healed
The world is the contrast and we are the light. Some of the contrast resides in us but the body is where you find the peace. The quietness we seek from the noise.
Beautiful … a realisation that I have had myself …some one once told me that I was trying to extinguish my desires … I am right at that stage of life …
Would love nothing more to retreat into the wilderness with duffel bag full of books and a …hunting kinfe
They say that children in India back in the day saw the Himalayas as a Disneyland of sorts … they longed to go there

Yes, you are always where you are supposed to be.
Thanks for your content
This is so true. I feel like I've been trying to get to a destination for years but only recently have understood that there isn't one.
So give your best version of yourself.
2000 years ago. He had no tv, internet, music. No food markets. No shopping centres. No speed boats.
I’m sure they had food markets … cmon now 😂
He could have had people playing instruments following him around all day if he wanted. He was the emperor.
Vanity of Vanity, all is Vanity! We are but dust, but yet the Lord cares for us. He wants the best for all mankind. Christ died for us,that we might have a chance at eternal life. Seek him with your whole heart, call apon him while he is near. And watch out for false prophets that will come to you in sheeps clothing.
Jesus is the only way!
I think this is really good advice, with the exception of being in a situation where there is abuse. Once you get away THEN you can find safety within. Just a thought…
It probably helped that he didn't have to worry about food as he was wealthy. You can have this type of mindset if you aren't worried about survival.
And how is this generation of people in the developed countries worried about survival? You think that's why they are depressed? We have all the luxuries one could possibly not even imagine in the previous centuries/millenia but still we are far less happy. Why?
Because now we've changed the nature of problems. Why does he get to drive a BMW and I a basic car? Why does he have a mansion and I have a regular house?
I'm generally a fan of stoic philosophy, but there is just something about sitting alone in the woods at sunrise.
This is exactly why I don't ski.
💯💯
Tell that to a single mom in the slums of Chicago.
Summation: the rich act poor and the poor act rich.
❤
I see what made him an emperor of riches
You don't hate your life, you hate yourself.
Its Still much easier out in nature than in a concrete jungle...
Spot on
😊🏴☠️
Meh
@@ronzak7068 but I love you.

Everywhere I go I have to take myself as well.
There are exceptions to this. Most of the time, it's true, but travelling can positively (for the most part) alter your life for ever.
You're personal problems will exist Wherever you go.
do you recommend any certain translation of the book??
He would’ve had a lot of hot women too. That always helps morale. 😂
Tell that to people who live in communist cuba or poverty ridden Haiti. It is the environment that makes the man. Marcus Aurelius would never have been a stoic if he had been born in dark Africa. So your theory doesn't hold water, else there would be no immigrants or migration. We would all live happily inside ourselves!!!
Holiday produces nothing in life
Love your content, but…. Aurelius was undoubtedly coming from a privileged position when he said this. He was an emperor at a time when a third of people were enslaved. Many people under his rule were probably not very likely to ever take a vacation or go on a retreat. Though I find his writings very wise in many ways, I’m not sure that this particular sentiment wasn’t self-serving to help keep people in their place and minimize their discontent about it.
fitrah?
Greek philosophy is just knowledge stolen from the great Hindu civilization and it's ideals of Dharma and Karma. Stop glorifying the thieves and the middlemen, start giving credit to the original thinkers who created the greatest civilization to ever exist.
