Catherine, the playroom looks great! I have done a huge declutter of my home this last year or so and I too have empty cupboards & drawers. Everything is so easy to clean & manage now. Of course, it’s much easier to keep up since I don’t have small children around anymore! I had two children and then I cared for my 3 grandchildren when they were little, so I know how it can get. You’re doing such a good job!❤️🎃🍂🍁👻

You are absolutely right about decluttering being something that you have to do repeatedly. It took me three years to completely declutter my place because i'd go through stuff, sit with it, then go through it again. Something you might consider is letting go of the kids' empty toy bins so they don't get filled up again. I did that as I went through my place and it helped keep things from spreading out again.

Not a bad idea!!! I’m trying to wait and see where we end up next before i make any permanent decisions on getting rid of the bins!

When my son was little, I told both sets of grandparents that whatever toys they bought would stay at their house for him to have things to play with when he was there. They actually liked that idea and it worked very well. My dad made him a toy box with a hinged lid. Toys went in there. He had Matchbox cars which he had a case to put them in. Stuffed animals were on the bed. Board games were on a shelf in the closet. I found that he played better with less toys. (The toy box held plenty of-lol). You are doing a great job decluttering! This will definitely help when you go to move. Love your videos-you always motivate me!❤

Catherine…I’m so glad you’ve shared all parts of your declutterring journey over the past year! While I dont have much clutter, I know it is a big issue with so many people these days. I hope those that watch your videos have begun to understand the clutter and the declutterring process.😊

Hi Catherine, I keep thinking to comment that of the creators I watch, your sponsorships are always fluidly worked in to your content, relevant and enjoyable to watch. These heaters fill a big need for us, and didn’t realize such a product was available. We will be getting 3 to 4 of these in the immediate future, Your channel is a favorite of mine, thank you!

I don't know about u Catherine, but I do a declutter & then the next time I do a declutter I say, why didn't I get rid of this the last time I decluttered? They say that it's ok to not get rid of something if ur not ready bcuz the next time you'll probably be ready. U did an fantastic job on those stairs & the playroom downstairs. I just dusted & vacuumed my in-law apt which consists of a bedroom, living room & dining room all in one while listening to ur video. Thank u for the motivation & company. 😊

Great video, Catherine. Your stairs look good. Kids will always have toys and make a mess with them. It's part of being a kid. That's what mom's are for 😂. It's also nice to declutter the toys when the kids aren't around. Have a great week.

Decluttering toys is my weakest point! My oldest has a steel trap memory. I have removed toys and kept them hidden for up to 6 months and he will ask about a specific item at random. He has special needs, and will get very upset if we can't locate the item he is thinking of. It makes decluttering his items especially difficult. It also seems like as soon as I talk about donating or selling a toy that the kids start using it again. I really want to do some sort of rotation, but I have yet to figure out how to do that.

If he's genuinely happy with what he has perhaps the answer is to not buy any more toys but give gifts that are experiences instead or consumables like food or magazines. Then you'd only need to declutter broken items and perhaps your child would find that more acceptable and understandable.

Decluttering is an over used term in social media. What many people do is just go thru and donate outgrown clothes or toys. And they like to use the word declutter. It's exhausting on the overuse of the word declutter. Thanks for showing us the perspective of going thru your parents or own house and purging the extras.

I watch a few minimalism channels. One of the ones I watch, shared that if she can’t tidy a room in 5 minutes, she has too much stuff in that room and needs to declutter. I love this idea, and want to continue to declutter my home so it is easy to tidy and clean.
