Just upgraded from a 1050ti to the rx6600. Used the 1050 for I think almost 5 years. Now I don't know how I was able to handle that for so long. The performance on the 6600 for such a low cost is amazing.
well don't beat yourself up, they only got cheap over the last year or so. Right now they are such a good value.
Just did the same
Waiting for it in the mail
im doing that exact same thing right now. I've had my 1050 ever since like 2019 and im finally getting the 6600.
@@BlueprintPCis it worth to spend 60€ more to get the rx6650xt or just the 6600(paired with ryzen 5 5600)
@@zaicidofor a 60€ price gap i'd say its not worth it to get the 6650xt over the 6600, but if you can get the 6700xt with that money thats a different story
Bought a new Sapphire RX 6600 on sale last year. Impressed by the capability of it
It is such a good GPU!
RX6600 is still the best for 1080p gaming. It is the most power efficient (to performance it offers) graphics card to have ever been made running at 100W. Best budget king IMO.
Concerning the LED switch I think its an excellent option for us folks who find the RGB/LED light abnoxious, I much prefer the lowkey monster rig aesthetic with no colorful lights than the eye candy rainbow RGB that feels like its burning my retinas lol I wish more gpu manufacturers does that.
I get that, I feel I need to tone down my rig a bit. I went rgb crazy on the last build and I can confirm... my retinas are burnt.
Surprisingly, we my setup is the same with your testbench.
Thanks for making the video mate!
No problem
Hey I really like your videos, you helped me decide on a 6700xt! Hope you’re able to upload more!
well thank youi! yes I have more in the works, was sick this past week so missed this weeks upload. but should have more soon
Mines coming in a couple days. Can't wait.
Congrats, let me know how you like it
I just got this card a day ago and im actually really happy. I don’t play super demanding games (GTA, Fallout 4, Beamng) but I upgraded from an XFX RX580 OC Edition and the difference is night and day. First thing I noticed was without an OC i was getting higher FPS and the GPU temperature was staying at 39c which I thought was crazy. When i would game with my RX580 it would toast my room.
It’s only been a day with it but so far very positive experiences and a much needed upgrade. Im gonna try undervolting and overclocking it soon 😊
The 500 series was good for the day, but like you said... they run HOT!
I got the eagle version paired with 5900x cpu never met a game i cant run maxed out. But i do use a 1080p 75hz screen
I just recently built my first gaming PC, and I picked up a RX 6600 for $140. So far I'm loving it, plays everything I've thrown at it. I enabled SAM and resizeable bar and I actually gained a few more fps.
Paired with 5700x CPU, MSI B550 tomahawk MB, 32gigs of ddr4 ram. Old PC was a Nvidia system, I'm gone have to say I like AMD software way better than Nvidia GeForce software
Solid rig! Congrats on the first build
Nice Video Blueprint. I bought one of these for 250 last year fopr a friend of mine who could not buy a GPU that time. It is a crazy good entry GPU and can handle any game at nice FPS. Was blazed away when i have seen how witcher 3 run on it (Nvidia prefered gamed). Was worth any $ payed.
Love the testBench, i can relate to that and most can. A+ for that and a new subscriber. Btw. I bought this card, it is really good with my Ryzen 5600 non x version. I got the card on sale and saved a lot going with this, so i could afford 32gb of Fury Beast 3200mhz and a new Samsung Evo 870 1tb. That is a decent 1080p gaming rig and it runs smooth 😊😅👍 Last i have had no driver problems at all, infact i love the drivers and thf awesome features included in the AMD drivers. I think they offer way more features than the Nvidia drivers. So all in all a great buy😊
Solid build, congrats!
Just found your review AFTER buying the ASRock version of this. I'm not a gamer. Just want more GPU oomph for photo editing than the RX550 in my current system. Sounding like I made a good choice.
TY. Have 3060 and 1060 but AMD has some nice offerings. Certainly wouldn't want my main rig to go lower in vram though my spare pcs it doesn't matter.
For a 1060 replacement the 6600 would be a solid option, just make sure the CPU & mobo are PCIe 4.0, it will make a decent difference with this card
I just got the rx 6600 used, for a very good deal. The thing is very efficient, the temperature hardly goes beyond 65c when gaming, such a strong little devil
My first gpu I had inside my PC was the RX6600 which is now in my friends PC (I have a 3080 now). I had the cheaper ASrock model, but the performance was really good along with the overall temperature. the only thing was when I bought the gpu it was at $389 and just like a month later it was at its $329 msrp and now it is even cheaper.
I would say thats a solid GPU to start with, I wouldnt stress the price too much. I buy all my GPUs for testing and trust me! My wallet gives me dirty looks all the time after seeing current pricing
@@BlueprintPC yeah haha, I want to start up a PC Building business now that uses brand new parts but the prices hurt sometimes lol. Especially when prices increase in price like power supplies.
I thought about doing the same then the virus hit
Necro. I just bought a new ASRock one for $210.
i just upgraded from a Gtx 980 Ti to a Gigabyte Rx 6600 Eagle from Amazon for 200$ new. it was so worth it
I have an asrock mech oc model. I also get a lot of whine, but only on spwcific games
What wattage did you have? It's meant to be a 132w card, but a lot of 6600 are set at 100w, and with afterburner can be pushed to 120w
I upgraded from an msi armored RX 570 8gb to a new SWFT RX6600 and as a 2k gamer it feels nice to finally be able to play any game on medium/high settings and still get 60+ fps on demanding games and also to be able to run dx12 on top of that. It was a very nice upgrade for how cheap I got it! My only issue I think I have is I’m running a ryzen 5 2600 cpu do you think that’s affecting my performance a lot and I’m “bottlenecking”? Almost feels like it sometimes
Hey there, so a faster cpu will help add some extra FPS. Not a huge amount but should be noticeable. It's also gonna help overall performance of the PC.
have u upgraded your cpu sir? it's been 5 months
@@Tembokhijau03 I did actually a couple months ago! got a Ryzen 5 5600X for a real good price and I think it has helped my performance quite a bit so I was happy with the upgrade
Hey man, I just upgraded from a 2600 to a 2700x and I had a really good bum in performance (+25-35 fps). I pick up the 2700x for 60 euro. I am rocking the rx 6600 also.
I just built my first pc with Ryzen 7 5700x and RX 6600. You made me feel I did the right thing. 😅
Its a good combo and the cpu can handle an upgrade down the road as well
@@BlueprintPC Thank you! :D
The LED light switch is very handy for Linux users wishing to turn off RGB, as pretty much all RGB lighting software is written for Windows - so trying to turn off RGB in Linux can be problematic. Radeon cards are very popular with Linux users due to the graphics drivers, so as a Linux user myself, I think the switch is a great idea. Nice review by the way, many thanks.
How are you, do you have the stock bios of this graph that you can share with me please, thanks.
I’m confused. Do multiple different manufacturers make their own versions of the same cards? I just bought the Asus version 🤔
You really should at least have a benchmark for when Resizable Bar/SAM is enabled, that's a feature that's available on many average systems that will often increase FPS without affecting image quality, like FSR/DLSS. My motherboard came with it already enabled, so it's a legitimate metric to include.
I will look into this more, I have been toying with ideas
As a owner of a RX 6600 I have loved the price to performance as well as the power draw. Even though this video is now 7 months old as of posting this comment a new more serious issue has popped up that'll give the card (or any other 6600) a rethinking, and that is Unreal Engine 5. I first tried it with the Matrix demo it ran at 8 fps in 1080p (had to edit configs to get it running at 720p to get 30). I also tried the new upcoming Robocop: Rouge City game demo (it uses UE5) it can barely do 30 in high setting with FSR 2 in balanced mode in 1080p. So when more titles start to go that start to use UE5 this card is going to suffer greatly. At this point unless your just playing older titles & you can pick this card up used for under $150 it'll be smarter to get the RX 7600, or the RTX 4060.
Hopefully updated driver optimization for UE5 will also help. I played Ark ASA on a few gpus including AMD and an early patch made a huge difference for team red
id like to upgrade to xfx - speedster swft210 amd radeon rx 6600 core 8gb gddr6 pci express 4.0 gaming graphics card will it work with my cpu
Best card for the value if you play with 1080p with amd free sync premium monitor. Because premium version makes it 165 fps even your card can't get high fps
Got this on sale for 170 can’t beat the price love this gpu
Hell yeah!
Is it compatible to PCie 3 ? My mobo still PCIe 3
what's more amazing is that right now street price for 6600, 6650xt and 6700xt is almost exactly proportional with their performance gap, so basically the same bang for the buck.
but since i had a 1080p 60hz and im not a heavy gamer i probably would stick with a 6600 and sold my old 1650 super for almost the same price i paid back in 2020
im also going to upgrade from a 1650 sup[er to rx 6600😎
@@ozolsjanis2976 update, i got a rx6700xt and i dont care about having a too powerfull GPU for the monitor anyways
Same here, gtx 1060 3go since 2018, play rarely games, wait for rx6600 below €200
@@Tonyx.yt.is it worth it to upgrade from rx 6600 to rx 6700 xt with monitor 1080p 60hz? I have a similar condition
@@Reckbeg well, After 1 month with the old monitor, i got a 144hz 1080p with freesync pro
Well spent money i would say, as monitor looks so nice and smooth, during every single use. Games not requiring high framerate i cap them around 70-80 fps and still the advantage over the old monitor it's nice because response time it's much better.
Btw, since you already had a rx6600 (i had a weaker 1650 super before) i suggest you to wait rx7700 release and let's see what the successor of rx6700xt looks like.
We are talking about 2 months, 3 at worst.
Just picked up an Asrock Challenger model for $220... works great for gaming under Linux.
Nice!
is the XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Radeon RX 6600 worth it? im thinking of switching out my 1650super 4gb one fan for it and i really want to settle for it and think i am going to but could it stream while on good fps and good stream quality etc? and the XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Radeon RX 6600 to me has a very very clean look just want to know whats the best rx6600 versions? is the hell hound better then the swft and is there a huge difference etc. in the end i think im settling for the XFX Speedster SWFT 210 Radeon RX 6600 though. any thoughts?
and is my cpu compatible with it as well? (i have a ryzen 5 3500)
Hey there, so the 6600 will be a solid upgrade from the 1650S. As for the specific 6600 version, the difference is very minor. I would just get the one you prefer
Warhammer 3 high setting 50-60 on 1080p 165 hz only 100 watt , i love this GPU
Give it 130W. Feel the power before the drivers limited power to 100W ;-)
@@fenio81 interesting idea
Hi, thanks for the video. Would you recommend the ASRock RX 6600 Challenger D or PowerColor Fighter RX 6600 at the same price?
Either should perform well. Personally, I would go with the Challenger, strictly based on visual appeal. Again the performance should be about equal
So I've been having issues with my PowerColor RX 5700xt. Thing was just absolute boiling in my case, even after doing thermal paste mods.
Yesterday I took a gamble with buying a MSI Mech 2x RX6600XT off of craigslist. To the seller's credit, the card was pristine and clean. Picked it up for $170.
Slapped that bad boy in (as a stop gap until I get my hands on a 7900XT) and my thermals and power draw were FAR AND AWAY better. I barely noticed a difference in gaming performance too.
THey are a surprising little card tbh
Amazing card for affordable price, will eventually buy it, no doubt 😊
Just watch with 4060/ti finally around the corner they should become even cheaper!
I have this with an overclocked 4,2ghz X5650 xeon from 2010 works pretty good!
Thats a weird combo but also pretty awesome! What made you rock a xeon?
@@BlueprintPC The old x58 6 core xeons are selling 10bucks a pop and can overclock high so alot of people still seem to be playing with these old chips they are great for 10 dollars!
1080gtx or rx 6600 seem to be the bottleneck with a x58 xeon but it is enough for 1080p gaming 👍
Now that sounds more awesome for that price. I was debating a home server with a xeon. I may have to take another look at those
I bought this card for 100 bucks offerup and I don’t regret it i finally upgrade from GTX 1070 works great runs better on warzone 2.0.
Well. I'm not gamer.
Is RX6600 good for Photoshop & Aftereffect?
Nividia and AMD both have driver issues almost equal in problems, I just bought a Sapphire RX6600 pretty happy with it so far.
I started shopping (browsing) for an upgrade from my 1650 super months ago and eventually landed at the 6600. I foolishly doubted the recommendation and now months later ive found myself back at the 6600 realizing it is way better all around than the other cards ive come across. For 1080p That 100-120 watt power usage and the current used price is unbeatable.
Agreed!

Could it be cause i'm using PCIE 3.0 or maybe it's cause of the HDD

Use ddu to reinstall amd drivers a fresh install should help trust me man I did that with my ryzen 1600 no stutters at all then I just upgraded to the 5600x. Radeon with SAM/REBAR enabled is the natural working environment for these cards. Testing without SAM/REBAR enabled is an artificial performance limitation for Radeon RX 6000/7000 cards.
Yep, that is correct. This brings it down to the strict raw power of the card.

@Blue brand loyalty.
I had a 1070 before this card and that previous card has also problems so it does not matter the problem is its video codec, that is not that good nvec is simply better.
Question, I am upgrading from an RX 570 to this card (gigabyte 3 fan version). I got it for $200, but am still not sure if in today’s market that’s a good deal. I’m still within the return window (haven’t installed it yet) and am wondering if I should wait a few more months or just keep it…

Thats a fair price currently. You might be able to find a used one as low as $150, but likely in rough shape. They may get cheaper over time but might take a while

Could you do a video comparing the RX 6800 and RTX 3070 since they both retail at about £530
Generally, the RX 6800 will perform better than the 3070 in non-raytraced games. It has more vram so it's a better option for those that want to use it for large/complex 3d rendering work. In ray-tracing the 3070 will generally perform better. Both GPU's are very capable 1440p gaming GPUs. You should expect 60+ fps at 1440p high settings for most titles. Some of the new titles that have high system requirements won't get the same performance with the same settings.
It is in the plans, may be a bit tho, Lumi's comment is pretty on point. 6800 is better value for gaming, especially without RT
AMD is known as fine wine, thats to say it ages better. That might be a point that is coming out now with vram and the 8 gig that is more common with NVidia. 6700 and greater have more vram in general then the 3000 series and, potentially, a little more future proof.
i got my rx6600 for $200 at micro center (asrock challenger), and i cant tell if its better than my 1660 ti yet lol , i know on paper its supposed to be , but nothing super noticeable yet , also first amd card so hopefully not gonna regret it

Hey there, so whats the budget and are you looking for AMD or intel? Also is this just for gaming
@@BlueprintPC There is a budget of about 1000dollars but where I live the prices are overblown. For example, The RX6600 is 450dollars here. The Nvidia 3060 is for 550dollars and the rest follows the same trend and yes this is a pc just for casual gaming. I'd prefer intel, AMD's seems a bit wacky.

@@BlueprintPC They blame the pendemic but Nvidia allready had the game plan by the 10 series. Also, the 3x boom in GPU sales came around the same time the United States government began to discuss banning Intel and AMD from supporting Chinese government, in fear that "The Chinese are building a super computer"

Hey there, so this is more of a 1080p card. Yes it can do 1440p but you will be aiming for 60fps and may have to lower some settings for certain games.
I doubt it was mined on, that card is not really good for mining, it wouldn't make sense to use it for mining.
As for the coil whine, that's pretty much down to luck, even known good coils can start to whine out of nowhere.

It has been a substantial upgrade from my RX-560 that's for sure lol.

As well as Half-Life/Half-Life² and Gmod.
And I also play a bit of TF2 and Fortnite every now and then.
I play other games too but those are the main ones.
Nice!
@@BlueprintPC Thanks. It does struggle on some games and I can't max out some games. Which is why I want a GPU.
Whats your budget?
POOR THING NEDS NEW FANS AND A REPASTE
I thought windows update was the culprit with the latest windows corruption shenanigans?
So there are unfortunately a cluster of issues going around, Nvidia included. Windows did have its own issue but apparently there is also an Amd windows file corruption bug as well. It seems 2023 is going to be there year of bad drivers & software... for everyone.
@@BlueprintPC Ah ok interesting. I have heard about windows update trying to update the driver from the Microsoft server the same time a user does a full uninstall and reinstall. Windows can be annoying like that. I had to DDU and disable windows update myself a few months back with windows update corrupting my Adrenalin driver update install. Didn't know about the AMD Adrenalin driver install somehow corrupting windows in the form of a bug. Hope they figure it out. I updated to the latest driver last week no issues through the Adrenalin software and noticed they have greyed out the factory reset option. The RX 6600 is amazing. It is defo the budget king. You really can't go wrong. its energy efficient and appears to provide amazing rasterization performance with a 5000 series cpu. 6000 series cards in general are great value. Love my RX 6700 XT.
Well said!
Should have CHOSEN. Jeez.
lol I'm gonna go with artistic liberties
If this was 2021/2022, I wouldn't bat an eye at the idea of suggesting a 6-8gb video card. I have multiple pcs here, and a RTX 2070 Super sat in my main pc since 2020, and I had a 1660 Super sitting in a secondary. But 2023 is the year of poorly optimized games that gobble up vram like a guy who had been starved for a week, fed only carrots and tap water, then taken over to Golden Corral for an all you can eat session so he could devastate the buffet. Dead Space Remastered and Company of Heroes 3 basically convinced me to drop $900+ US on a Radeon 7900 XT. Then seeing vram issues with the newer Resident Evil games after ray tracing was added, along with the vram use in The Crash of Us, yeah, would not suggest a 8gb card now. 12GB cards are my new minimum suggestion.
This is not wrong lol The crappy fact is exactly what you said "poorly optimized" games.
aint no way a 5700x is THE average gamers cpu
Hey there, what do you think would be a better fit?
According to Steam survey, probably a GTX 1650
Hey again, the GTX 1650 is a gpu and not the cpu. However i did pick up a 1650 as well to do a video for that soon too!
@@BlueprintPC Yeah I didnt read that well but according to steam survey, the results I could find are below
OS Version
Windows 10 64 bit
System RAM
16 GB
Intel CPU Speeds
2.3 Ghz to 2.69 Ghz
Physical CPUs
6 cpus
Video Card Description
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
VRAM
8 GB
Now his doesnt say much really but Anything 14nm and above are killer options IMO.
As far as GPUs, Im good with 24nm and above, in some slim cases, the 40nm with a good deal.
Yeah so according to steam 4cores is king. Amd 3600 was their best seller for a bit. During the "viral times" it was 5700g. So the 5700x is becoming more popular as it's good bang for the buck
I would not buy 8gb vram cards anymore...
I think they are ok for 1080p or less demanding titles. But it is a tough sell for something for the long haul
What's wrong with all these people using fan stop mode? It's pointless and it's worse than using them at 10-30% all the time. There's not reason to use it ever.
I understand, I don't use it for personal rigs. I typically set fan to 20% min. There is a reason, well 3ish- that it exists. One is it saves on electricity so efficiency is up, reduces noisy and it could increase the lifespan of you fans. I would rather increase the gpu lifespan and replace fans. Also I don't find the noise and energy cost to be worth it for me but for some this can be a big issue.
"no rebar" is stupid, ill watch no further
Is it compatible to PCie 3 ? My mobo still PCIe 3
Hey there it is compatible with gen 3, you will of course lose some performance but it is compatible. Gen 3/4 are swappable, your mobo should detect it automatically.
