I genuinely think Thanos only takes Hulk fights indirectly for that very reason. He can't even physically match base Hulk, but base hulk is not fast enough to react to Thanos' strategies. Eventually, when Hulk is angry enough, Thanos can no longer out think Hulk's reaction speed.
Base Hulk is fast enough to match Thor, silver surfer etc. s combat speed, who are all massively FTL beings, so you re dead wrong on that, and thanos has overpowered Hulk in raw power before, in the infinity run he swatted Hulk away with a left hook easily.
Except he can, because thanos casually fights beings like Thor, silver surfer etc. and had no problem matching their Massively FTL speed. Same with Hulk, base calm Hulk had no issue reacting to Thor, Silver surfer, Gladiator, Hyperion and even the sentry. And thanos had no issue overpowering the Hulk in raw power.

Well thats marvel and DC in a nutshell. They both constantly do that to all their characters. Hulk dominates Thanos then along comes a new writer, new series and hulk gets spanked by Hawkeye. It’s laughable to try and make any logical sense of it all.
That's what happens when you don't have consistent power scaling across the entirety of comicbook storylines. It's just up to the writer and while that is cool and gives lots of growth and changes for characters it will always lead to this specific issue.
Thanos hits Emma Frost, in her non diamond form and she is not killed or at the very least horribly injured. Emma has no special defenses while in her normal form, she is just a human.
This reads like the writer isn't keeping up with current hulk stories and the level of power he's been at for awhile.

where did hulk "DOMINATE" Thanos in this story, I'm not seeing it.
I don't really understand why are they afraid to let Thanos and Hulk fight properly for once, like if Hulk is going to lose sure but make it epic. He was beaten in the past and his power level can differ a lot based on the writer but let them throw hands for real and respect both of the characters
Ironically I think that is them showing respect for both characters. The unstoppable force vs the immovable object. Giving us a direct answer would kinda deflate the other one’s Rep

@@ahfimiwonawunI think they did this to show Thanos could not outright kill or beat Hulk. But it leaves out the concept that Hulk gets stronger the angrier he gets. That leash was just a metal chain, something that is not hard to break at all by Hulk.
I guess cuz he's hard to put in situations. Sort of like the flash. Either he's a god or some dude in pajamas getting killed by bullets. Normal base hulk or universe level hulk, gotta pick one.
I love Thanos but I don’t think hulk would technically lose. When you get him angry enough to the point where he can start to smash reality itself, you’re in a world of trouble.
In their infinity war encounter, hulk was knocked out. He was initially overpowered. He was beginning to scrunch his face and wake up. It would take a few more rounds before it becomes clear Thanos cannot contain him, and cannot overpower him any longer. Thanos is now in danger of being killed. This is where he would have to rely on his superior intellect and technical abilities.
He would simply find a way to remove hulk from the equation.
A severely angry hulk would have tanked Odins blasts similarly and caused comparable chaos to Asgard. He would have to be removed from the equation eventually.
You just have to be at an unbelievable power scale to soundly beat any incarnation of hulk at maximum rage. There are a few who can, but I don’t think Thanos is one of them.
Hulk needs to get going a bit, but I have no doubt he outpaces thanos
I think if Hulk could give him a run for his money first thing. Then no contest, Where are Hyperion and Sentry,if the threat is that bad. Also Blue Marvel is there
Hulk has growth potential and Thanos doesn’t, he’s just highly competent. Hulk starts at a 10 and Thanos starts at a 900, but if Thanos can’t put Hulk down, that’s not a happy matchup for Thanos.

Base Hulk is still a handful, i mean the fact that the hulk palmed a energy blast from thanos then hit him so hard Thanos thoughtt to himself thats the hardest hes been hit in awhile should speak volumes. Ramped up Hulk definitely puts the work on Thanos.
Only if the writer is trying to show up Thanos. Thanos fought Odin to a standstill. The Hulk is mindlessly overpowered and takes away from his character.
@@martinvanburen4578 And Odin always gas fought Galactus on even ground. Galactus has dogwalked Thanos so Odin isn't exactly a great indicator on whether Thanos stands on the power scale.
Seeing how Hulk has faired against the current buffed up Thor it's clear Thanos isn't in another league. This issue alone showed that a baseline Hulks punches are a threat. Don't have to like it and it doesn't matter if you feel Thanos is being downplayed by the writer, it is what it is.
@@karaso0 Odin is a great indicator because he is stronger than Thor and Thor keeps up with Hulk while ultimately losing out without the hammer. Odin is way above Hulk on any given day. Galactus fluctuates but bad writing doesn't excuse Hulk being powered infinitely to suit a bad writer. Thanos should be leagues above Thor and Hulk.

Hulks baseline should always increase with each comic. After the immortal hulk, and the iteration where Bruce had hulk trapped in the engine room. I’m confused why Hulk physically isn’t always 1a or 1b in any story aside him going up against cosmic entities or just overwhelming odds imo.
Because then they can't tell a good story, his strength has to go back down and then he has to reach it again. That's always been his thing and they shouldn't change it

@@MikefromTexas1superman's strength also changes over time. Resetting a character's strength is common when they're too popular to get rid of. When you have ppl like Sentry or Blue Marvel (in marvel) and Valor or Dr Fate (in DC) who are very powerful but not insanely popular, you can keep them at their same level of power and justify their lack of presence on them being away, doing their own thing, being locked up somewhere and etc. When you have ppl like the Hulk, Thor, Superman and etc you have to bring their power down from time to time or just keep ramping up the villains to match them.

If it’s BASELINE Hulk, i think he can go toe to toe, if not hold him off. But Thanos already knows about his ‘rising anger, rising strength’ thing so he’ll have tonthink of a strategy to temporally delay or remove hulk.
As for the hotwire, funny as it, the guy has invented his own tech (he also had the Thanos Coppter), not to mention he has interacted with Earth multiple times, i think he may pickup some earth tech knowledge.

he is avatar of toba, but that doesnt mean anything in an actual fight, toba doesnt actively empower him to win every fight, at the end of the day hulk needs to be angrier to be stronger. Besides, base thanos has enough feats to take on even wbh, and thats with strength alone, he has multitudes of powers besides that.

Thanos doesn't worry about base level Hulk, Thanos worries about drawn out battles with the Hulk. He knows Hulk will get stronger and tougher. he knows its not worth it and Thanos only cares about accomplishing his mission as fast as possible.
Thanos vast intellect and wild arsenal always overshadows Hulk but he always tries to avoid Hulk when invading earth or when fighting the avengers because he knows he the most difficult to subdue. Titan is small being and the fact he acknowledges Hulks power says something.

@@G4DZ1LLA5 Marvel in their hierarchy classed Thanos, Blue Marvel, The Sentry and Thor as level 8, they're equals. And the fact that BM is respected and protected character who thanks to today's social politics has the Wokeforce, they would never feed BM to Thanos, that's apparently clear.
Something to consider.... Dr strange could have probably saved the city, Blue Marvel could have taken on Thanos (and he rivals Sentry), but they called the dude they know is the most dangerous on earth. Its not the first time either.

I'd say purely physically, base line Hulk is probably a touch stronger than Thanos. That doesn't account for all his enhancements and tools he has amassed though. Between technology and magic he either has on him or channels from somewhere else, Thanos has enough to outlast Hulk for quite a while. The issue is actually bringing him down before he becomes too angry though...
No thanos has proven in raw power hes superior to base hulk. He's at least twice stronger than Hulk in baseline.

Is he? Last I heard the Green Door was closed to the Hulk so he cannot access that power as far as I know. But anyways put base Hulk and base Thanos have them duke it out. Yes Hulk gets stronger as he gets madder but this is Thanos we're talking about the same one who went one on one with Odin and the Odin Power and came out of that confrontation with just minor cuts and bruises and Odin is far more powerful than the Hulk.. And let's not forget Zeuss man handled the Hulk just using his physical strength.
Base level Savage Hulk should be no match for Thanos. If Thanos makes Hulk angry, however... the tables could turn.

I absolutely do have a clue what I'm on about.
On a separate note, Hulk is a special character. Akin to DC's Superman. But (and this is why little kids, my 5 years old son, who loved Hulk since he was 3) the difference Superman sends the message that if you are good and nice, you can overcome any obstacle. Hulk on the other hand (and i choke up when i think of my little boy running around the house screaming like Hulk, just like i did when i was a kid) shows every little kid and anybody that if you never give up, there is nothing you cant accomplish. And that the harder you try, the more you will accomplish your task. Hulk is not the embodiment of rage outside of the comics (inside he is), outside of the comics he is the embodiment of will and determination. That is why he is Marvel's true Superman counter part.

Well, Thanos wins is cannon and he basically turned the Hulk into a guard dog. Also, when the black surfer was attacked by the Hulk during the Thanos wins story line, the Hulk was destroying his own hands while attempting to slug it out with the Surfer who has been physically beaten by Thanos which leads me to believe that if those who control the power cosmic don't want to be moved or harmed, there's basically nothing that the Hulk can do but death battle claims that old school Hulk can shatter universes. So, I guess Thanos and the surrounding landscape of earth can tank universal level blows coming from a today's Hulk, assuming that he's holding back....comics.
Like Rob said Thanos has never taken on the Hulk in a one on one, in a faur fight and lets not talk mcu cause thats not hulk. If Hulk is able to at least last a little while fighting thanos he has a chance to get strong enough to eventually over come him.

Yeah, but how powerful is Thanos really? Hulk can left plus a billion tons, while Thanos has already defeated the Hulk in the Future and made him his b***h. He lived alone on a deserted planet with CGR and and a tamed Hulk, leaving readers to ponder dark thoughts to what happened to him. I liked how they handled the fight in Infinity War. Hulk is strong, but he's not a fighter on Thanos' level. Hulk takes big swings and leaves himself open while Thanos makes more calculated attacks and jabs. He didn't even have to use the stones (I'm pretty sure we never see them light up during that fight). So... I think it's fair to say that... at their base level... they're equal in terms of pure strength.
I wish we could have gotten a part 2 to that fight... where is absolutely PISSED OFF that he lost and Thanos has to use the stones just to keep from getting merc'd... but I understand that they had to basically write Hulk out of the movie immediately in order for the Snap to happen. It's just a shame we'll probably never get to see Hulk in his prime...

current hulk is stronger than a standard savage hulk. thanos is way stronger than standard hulk and has clapped him every single time, and has better strength feats than even heart of the monster hulk. Thanos has even stomped hulk, thor, hercules and thing all at once.
If Thanos was smart, he would've had the Thanos-copter on stand-by. lol

Thanos has always won against Hulk in their encounters, he even defeated the whole Avengers with Hulk being with them. Thanos also defeated Warrior Madness Thor who also had the power gem and base Thor can easly match base Hulk. Thanos fought on equal grounds with classic Odin and despite Odin technically won ( and even complimented the titan for his power) Thanos was still not falling before the fight was interrupted. Thanos tanked Silver Surfer attacks at point blank range and without a scrach and proceeded to beat the shit out of him, he also defeated singlehandely the Annihilators who are way arguably the strongest team in Marvel. Only World Breaker Hulk has the power to match Thanos and threaten his life as very few others can (King Thor, Sentry). Base Hulk has always been much weaker than Thanos by a long mile, considering how Thanos could literally one-shot people of comparable power.
He didn't defeat warrior madness thor he merely imprisoned him in a block of force. Now hulk has beater a warrior madness thor before. Also thanos and hulk have never had a clear fight where they go toe to toe like now. So it's incorrect to say thanos has beaten the hulk before.
Most of the feats you listed arent relevant or recent, thanos cannot beat base hulk and hasn't been able to for about 20 years.

Thanos knocked Hulk around in Hickman’s run, and one shotted Hulk with his eye beams in one of the Infinity graphic novels by Jim Starlin last decade. Thanos only loses to Hulk under the pen of someone who has no grasp on Marvel history.

I personally think Thanos holds back...I think he's definitely capable of going rounds with Hulk but Thanos has likes to dominate everyone and everything and unless he had to really square up with the heaviest of hitters he just avoids them.

I know one time when Thanos admitted to avoiding tussling with Hulk. There may have been other times, but I know of only the one.
It was when Thanos first started on his quest to gather together the Infinity Stones. He fought Champion for the Power stone, comparing the Elder to Hulk.

I love your commentary, energy, excitement and enthusiasm when reading and describing the comics! I just imagined how this is how they were meant to be read! I never read comics, but ALWAYS loved them and the superheroes! You make an amazing reader/storyteller!
As for baseline Hulk vs Thanos, hmmmm, I feel I don't have the depth of knowledge you have in this, but from what I know and some of the suggestions within the comics, I like the fact that baseline Hulks powers should increase bases in the past events, especially if this is just a few comics after World War Hulk and World Breaker Hulk. And especially because of the fact that the Illuminati had hit him up, I'm sure he'd still be somewhat pissed which would have put him in an even higher baseline state.
But, comics, different writers and reboots... things always changing. It should be a roughly even match, though Thanos will have the edge in strategy, while Hulk will have an edge in strength, and obviously over time would become that much stronger.
Nothing better then a good old classic CORD Truck.
I think that Thanos can match a borderline Hulk(one who's just changed, not particularly angry)but, without The Infinity Gauntlet, he's not, in the long run going to be able to deal with a Hulk who can stamp his foot, and, devastate a continent!

I remember back Avengers 2014 Thanos fought Hulk alongside with Thor, Cap, Carol Danvas and pushed all of them into quite a dier situation. it was true back then Thanos had the dark order helping him and eventually Avengers won that fight but no way I am convinced Hulk can take on Thanos on his own.
Apocalypse vs Thanos would make an awesome fight.
