This video was originally supposed to be uploaded yesterday on Kara's birthday as a surprise, but due to technical difficulties and my video editing ineptitude, I showed her a half finished version yesterday and she had to help me upload it today (Kara, you're the best).
Since we don't have room for things and our life is constant "experience," I thought for Kara's birthday, the best gift I could give her would be to show her the impact she's had on the world over the last 3 years.

In October 2018 I fell and broke my ankle. I was put on 6 weeks of very limited mobility. After 2 weeks of misery I found your videos. For the next few weeks I watched every single video y’all have made.. Kara’s sweet personality and exuberance truly made my recovery so much easier. Ok Kara this is a bit late: So, I watched your Iceland video (eating PB&J sandwiches) that inspired me to go to Iceland twice. A bit later, I watched the Finland/Lapland videos (hadn't subscribed yet) and I was like "OMG I recognize these two from the Iceland video" and from then on I have been hooked on your videos, yes I subscribe, get all the notices and wait for a new video. Oh BTW we are going to Finland/Lapland Feb 2021 and will be going on an icebreaker ship and reindeer sleigh riding. Thanks to you guys! I don't have a decent video camera so I will write my note. Not sure when your birthday is but mine is March 1st. I consider you a fellow traveler on the road not only of life but geographically. In my case I grew up in 4 countries by the time I was 12 and expanded that to 16 countries until 5 years ago. 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with stage 3 multiple myeloma (cancer).. I was living and working in Oman for the last 4 years as a university lecturer and my diagnosis forced me to retire early and return to Vancouver, Canada.
Which brings me what you bring to my life now. Your attitude is so positive that it gives me added energy to fight the fight against cancer. I have traveled by ship, and so your voyages triggers memories of my childhood ship trips. You have a crazy side to you which is similar to mine and which emerges when I go for my chemo sessions. Through your eyes and the lens of your camera, I see both places I have been and new places that I never will visit now. So have a great birthday and on March 1, I will pretend it is your birthday and raise a toast to you. Happy birthday Kara. Keep up the journey.

Kara reminds me of my mother. She once assembled me and my sisters in the dining room of our Vancouver home and told us, we were off to Australia for a few years, If anyone didn't like it they could stay behind in the cold and drafty Vancouver house. But this is about Kara, so have a great B'Day. You probably know this but Kara means black in Turkish. Tomorrow, I will raise a toast of very good scotch to your amazing spirit of adventure.

Happy Birthday Kara. I have been watching your videos for awhile now. When I found you guys I binge watched for days. You are such a joy to watch. Your bubbly personality is amazing. I love how excited you get with the many adventures. You and Nate really get to know the people and culture of the places you visit. I reacently enjoyed the St Martin/St Marteen video We visited there a few years ago and at the end of 2019 we will be taking our son on a cruise that ports there. We plan on eating at the pizza place at the beach that you ate at. Good to know the pizza was delicious.

I told my husband the way you pronounced "broodje" and "stroopwafel" and from that day on we say stroopwafel the Kara (and Nate) way :-) I love the way you look at things, always trying to be positive. You're such a happy person and a little bit lost without Nate. But he is your soulmate so it's normal to feel lost when he's not around.
