I almost never comment--I'm one of those weirdos who observes quietly, but I'm compelled to add this note, despite the possibility of it not being seen by those behind Yes Theory and Seek Discomfort. I'm not within what I assume is your target demographic. I'm a woman in my 40s. While I openly admit, I haven't been a follower for years (I only found your channel last year), the direction you've been heading opens up the possibilities to so many people. Your stories and challenges transcend culture, ethnicity, and the (often foolish) boundaries we humans create. You've inspired millions of people, including me, by simply transforming ideas into action. On behalf of the millions of people you've touched, thank you for what each of you does--in front of the camera and those behind the scenes. We need this, now more than ever. Here's to each one of us: may we achieve our dreams and goals one by one. Cheers!

For me, one of the hardest things about becoming an adult was realising nothing lasts forever and everything is transient. Eventually this helped me learn acceptance, but it was a harsh reality at first. Everything is always ok in the end. love your channel and your guys' attitude to life. You're all very human. Sending you all the very best.

As a teenager i was sold on that “forever” lie. In my late 20s, I too began to learn that there’s no such thing. In my 30s I was fairly lost but became busy and built a career, corrected some bad decisions and mistakes. In my 40s I realised I have always had this sense of not fitting in anywhere. Born on a land that I have zero cultural association with, from ancestry that I have zero connections with. Spending a decade researching my family history, only to meet brick walls very early on in as soon as one century.
My acceptance of everything in one basket is that the world will still turn in what is an inconsequential series of events and experiences. Good or bad. In a thousand years no one here will remember you, and anything you did will be forgotten. So I have accepted that my existence is a perfect accident, and that we all drift through our lifetime until we cease to exist.

At 55 years old, YesTheory has inspired me to do more, be more, travel and explore the world more. But most of all, it has taught me to give more. Since watching this channel, I have sold/donated everything I owned, left my job and set out to BE in the world. For the past three years, I have traveled to more than 30 countries; I have danced in Ibiza, ran a marathon on the Great Wall of China, walked for 40 days across Spain on El Camino de Santiago, trekked the Sahara in North Africa on camel back, donated my time and expertise in the medical field, as well as built houses for the homeless in Mexico (where I now live)... . And when people ask me what I hope to BECOME in this world... my answer is always: YES!

I'm leaving America after living here for 5 years and going back to my home country, the Philippines. Like Thomas, America had been a country of opportunity and growth but I'm yet to go adventuring somewhere I can call home -- it might be the Philippines, or somewhere else. I don't know yet. I'm on a student visa here in the States and it's expiring soon. I prayed that my company would sponsor me but it didn't seem like it was happening so I was resigned to just accepting the fact that I had to go back to the Philippines. I'm not too excited about it but this video gave me the courage to look at things from a different point of view. I have a similar origin story to your's, though mine outdates your's by over 3 decades. I was born in Japan to a Japanese mom, and American dad back in January of 1960. My native tongue is Japanese, but at almost age 7 my father was transferred to work in Hawai'i. In over 56 years I have never had the funds to return there. I attended college here from 2019 thru 2021 earning a degree in architectural engineering & CAD, and during this time in college I won a scholarship to attend a university in Tochigi, Japan (my mom's home prefecture) during the summer of 2020. Covid hit in March of that year, and all scholarships were canceled. That was my one and only chance to go back to the country of my birth. I am almost 63 now, and I figure if I work real hard for the next 5 years I may be able to visit Japan one last time. I have something to work for, and to look forward to. I am a recent subscriber, but you have become an inspiration to me. Best wishes to you from Kailua, Hawai'i.

Hi there, I have no idea about your financial situation, and apologies if this information isn't useful to you, but I wanted to mention that Japan can be done very cheaply and I don't know if a lot of people realise that. ... last time I went I spent $250 on accommodation for two weeks (Hotel backpackers Toyo in Osaka - private room with aircon, shared bathrooms) and less than $500 on flights from Australia (no idea where you're based of course) by hitting up the Jetstar flight specials. Airline points is always another option, which can be gathered over time for basically nothing but planning and time. I think a lot of people think they need ten thousand or something to visit. Ehh, I think what concerned a lot of people was that their content felt more soulless for a while - maybe not soulless, but not Yes Theory. They were videos that any youtuber could have and had done. Specifically, a good example would be the "we're spies today" episode where they learned "how to be spies." Was a fun video, but felt like any channel could have done that video. I love these guys and I'm really excited for what they're going to do next, there was just a period where it felt like (and it seems Thomas basically said this) they were kind of just creating content to create content and see what was liked. I really hope they do mature their content and do the more human videos they used to.
And there are absolutely many videos that feel quintessentially yes Theory, like their visit to the country that doesn't technically exist and met an old woman who took them in as her grandsons, so beautiful.

Thanks so much for telling your story. I'm 52 years old and I'm changing my whole life up right now, and I'm extremely excited about it! These last 8-9 years in Seattle have been very challenging and in the last three years I was in the room twice in one year when my dad, and then my mom, passed away. After my mom passed, two weeks later, pandemic lockdowns happened, and I felt so much the same as you. I struggled for connection. I yearned to travel, and yet, I wasn't able. I'm grateful that I was safe and doing something I loved.
But now, at 52, with most of my family gone, I have the opportunity to return to Germany, where I was born. Even though I am American, I'm going with confidence that I will find the job that I need. I'm leaving in 2-3 weeks for London, where I will be going to school for one month on a intensive course to teach English as a 2nd language so that when I land in Berlin later this year, I'll be able to find work. Last Friday I quit my job of six years, in a career field that I have been in for over 30. I'm reinventing myself, I'm giving everything up. I'm starting fresh, and I absolutely cannot wait. Thanks for your story, I am encouraged that other people are also shooting for the stars after these last few challenging years. Cheers my brother, I can't wait to see what you all have coming next!

Wow amazing! I’m 53 and I’m in the same place Thomas was before he moved to Paris. Stuck and not financially able to travel. I’m a entertainment photographer covering red carpet professionally for 12 years based in NYC. I don’t want to be photographing celebrities until I’m 60. No thanks! I’m still young, attractive woman who don’t even look my own age at all whatsoever and physically fit. And yet, I’m still trying to figure out my next step. Something exciting and new but have no idea what? Your story gives me hope that something will come up that I’ll finally have the answers I seek. Thank you for sharing and best wishes!

Every time I watch your videos I get so emotional because I have grown up watching you guys and you guys have helped me, like many others, through so much. the only way im able to put the way your videos make me feel is its the same feeling you get when you go to Disney and see the fireworks as an adult.... everyone is told when you grow up you need to work, you need to make money, start a family.. you get stuck in the same routine. but when you go to Disney and see the firework show, you get a sense of being a kid again... dreaming, believing you can do things you never think is possible and you get hope. hope that you can turn your dreams into a reality and find yourself among it all... that's the feeling I get from your videos and I have for years.
thank you for always being honest and open and for sharing all of your journeys. they have helped me and so many other people learn to dream again and make goals that we never thought we could achieve.

This feels so special. I began watching you guys when I was 15, feeling so overwhelmed with joy, excitement and inspiration as I say what life had to offer through your videos. Still in high school, I didn’t feel like I could accomplish that, that I couldn’t grab the joy of life like you did. After my mom’s passing in summer before I started university, I made one promise: to feel as inspired and joy-filled with life again once, just once, like how I talked to my mom with so much inspiration after watching that first ever video of you guys. I just finished my bachelors in university, went solo travelling to South America on or five months (currently watching this from Bolivia before flying back home to on Thursday), turned 22 on this trip and for the first time in years I felt that same excitement and inspiration for life. After years of watching all your videos, I took the leap of faith: solo travelling is not something to be afraid of and strangers are only friends you haven’t met yet. I can now proudly say, all of that is true and travelling gives you some of the best inspiration, joy and happiness, that I wasn’t able to feel for almost 4 years after my moms passing. Thank you for giving me faith in myself that everything will be all right, that change is beautiful and seeking discomfort leads to the best memories and proudest moments. I love you guys, I’m so glad that I was able to grow into an adult with this channel and that you’re also still growing and changing.

Sorry to hear about your mom. That is unbelievably sad at such a young age. Time will never heal the wound and nobody who experienced the same could ever fathom that, but do good in life and believe in reuniting with your family one day in the afterlife.

She didn’t really enjoy the plane portion of the trip, but she was so happy to have finally confronted her fear. Perhaps someday you’ll want to, but where you’re located it’s possible to travel pretty far without ever needing a plane. Either way, enjoy your travels. 💜

I'm only been a subscriber for a few weeks, but the videos I have watched definitely give me a sense of wonder for the places you have visited and your story about feeling lost strikes a chord in me.
That loss of home is something I can relate to and had to deal with when my parents passed within a month of each other. After they were gone, their home (my childhood home) just felt so empty and without them it wasn't home anymore. But the upside is that my brother and his wife have remade it and it feels like a home again. Good on you for getting back to your roots.

Just started watching Yes Theory almost a month and half ago.... It all started through a suggested video of Nepalese Honey Adventure you guys did; it was truly amazing. As a travel and content enthusiast, i just love watching your content, so much so that almost everyday i watch 2 to 3 Yes Theory videos..... and i truly appreciate your adventures, ideas and story-telling.
It's very heartfelt that Yes Theory team has to move on separately, but at the same time i have a lot of respect for you guys for showing immense love & respect to each other, and to highlight the need of LOVE that this world is now missing.
I love the way how your content has been matured with the passage of time; BioSphere 2, Bhutan, Nepalese Honey, Iraq & Kurdistan, Island of Death, Challenging Will Smith for Heli-Jumping, going to Moldova, visiting Communa 13 and last, but not the least SYRIA; your brotherhood is amazing and as a fellow content creator i wish Matt, Thomas, Ammar and Yes Theory Team best of luck for all your future endeavors.
