Pirate King: "That wasn't me, it was one of the musicians." Conductor: "Which musician?" Pirate King: "Sorry, it wasn't a musician it was a drummer." :-) Love it!
In the production of this that I'm in every policeman is a female except the Sergeant! hahaha. I play a daughter, a pirate, and a policeman. Great roles for someone with alot of dance and singing expirience. (:
Pirate King: *whistles* Fredrick:*not realizing whistle* Pirate King: Fredrick! *whistles* Fredrick: *attempts to whistle* I can't whistle! XD I Love how Simon says that!!!
fair point and as a former chorus performer myself I played in my last performance 2 characters including a character which we re-wrote to be a split-personality and a caricature of Fmr. PM John Howard.
How spooky is this... I wrote that comment 6 mths ago and tonight I got your reply. Why spooky? I have just arrived home from seeing "The Rock Show" starring a host of young and very talented people headed by ... Jon English. If you get the chance to see it do so. There is so much talent out there, including Jon.
I hope they paid the actors extra for this because if you look closely you'd notice that the coppers are also the pirates and come Act 2 you'll also notice that the Pirate Band and the Coppers are only half the size of what they were in the first act.
AHAHA! The cops are the best! Best EVER! Remember that! And Pirates of Penzance is the best play ever! I know these things. I was a cop. Aha! That dance is damn hard!
I was in the audience for one of the performances of this, It was incredible. So were the other shows this company has preformed. But I've never seen the movie. Was something wrong with someones voice?
What makes you think they are lip-synching? The entire video is out of synch, but I'm sure they are really performing. It wouldn't be possible to do a live performance of Gilbert and Sullivan and lip-synch the whole thing.
Why would they pay them extra? They're the chorus, thats their job. They don't get paid by per how many characters they do. They get paid on what their job title is.
Well, in the movie, they cast Tony Azito. He was a dancer, and they cast him in it so they could go more into choreography. He wasn't really much of a singer, and his voice certainly wasn't the deep bass voice you'd want for the Sergeant. They didn't even go down to the F in this song. Still a good performance, just not what Sullivan had written for it.
Dreadful! they are lip sinking (poorly sung at that) and Gilbert & Sullivan are rolling over in their graves at abuse their great work has suffered at the hands of these clowns. Shameful.
...the chorus parts in this show is just. spectacular.
love those little foot gyrations
Amazing how he can do all those moves and it doesn't make his voice jiggle in the slightest!
I'm sure tony Azito was smiling from heaven watching this.
What a fabulous performance! Congrats to all.
Pirate King: "That wasn't me, it was one of the musicians."
Conductor: "Which musician?"
Pirate King: "Sorry, it wasn't a musician it was a drummer."
:-) Love it!
Screw you XD
Why do drummers hang out with bass players?Cause they want to be called musicians!😂Just kidding,my darling talented son who can play any instrument!❤😊
the footwork is mesmerizing for it's simplicity
This is quite the well-done rendition. Love some of the stage direction here.
augggh, those cops were excruciatingly good!
it's like: how is that dance humanly possible?!
Wow. It's as though the movie cast someone with the right voice. This is great.
Mabel's so SMOL!
Channeling his inner John Cleese !
👍🏻😁
my god those coppers are good! bravo!!!
Mabel is perfect casting
Just when you think it couldn't possibly get any funnier, there is the Pirate King's entrance at 7:04.
Great!!!!
I have all three videos but I wish they were on DVD now my player chews videos. Thank you so much for sharing. Truly entertaining.
Haha, great choreography and a great chorus.
Crazy I know but this brilliant performance from Australia is now on Sky Arta Channel and Im at the moment watching it!
OMG this is hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD
the main policeman is like made of rubber!!!
In the production of this that I'm in every policeman is a female except the Sergeant! hahaha. I play a daughter, a pirate, and a policeman. Great roles for someone with alot of dance and singing expirience. (:
Practising now to be Sergeant of Police in my school's production. Cant wait!
How very arresting!
Good lord is he made of rubber? Amazing.
Fabulous version. G&S is not to be taken seriously. Relax haters.
I seek a penalty 50 fold for anyone taking G & S seriously!
With a back-up chorus like that, he doesn't need to be... amazing! =) The best version I've heard by far!
Thank you I shall follow that up.
They are on DVD I believe. I think on the ABC (Australian) catalogue?
Clever. Musically, as well as staged sung and acted.
The policemen sound like a barbershop, which is actually quite nice.
Did you watch the clip of "When the Foeman Bares His Steel" yet? You should see him there. He's amazing! :)
I just saw that! He's amazing! :D
Crazy I know but this brilliant performance from Australia is now on Sky Arts Channel and Im at the moment watching it!
Excellent ! Thank you. It made me :-)
Pirate King: *whistles*
Fredrick:*not realizing whistle*

Much agreed.

Haha XD

Does somebody know what song sounds at 0:24, please? I listened a long time ago but I can't remember where.
I'm doing this play and I have to learn this song in 2 days DX
always said G/S was the precursor to Monty Python
Introducing the Keystone Cops!
A Mabel who’s not vibratoing her voice into incomprehensibility? Is that legal??
Jeez. Thanks a lot Jon. "It wasn't a musician. It was a drummer." Great ego boost.
AHAHA! The cops are the best! Best EVER! Remember that! And Pirates of Penzance is the best play ever!
I know these things. I was a cop. Aha!

If you look closely, you can see which ones they are
which ones

I love the police. They're the best.
I know. I've wanted to play the Sergeant for ages now, but unfortunately I can't dance for toffee :(
any idea which production this is?
Who wants the marines in One Piece to sing this?
Very entertaining policemen

looks perfect to me, four years later
NIce acting, but it's a shame that the producers had to resort to canned music for the orchestra. The synth music track really grates on the ear.
im doing this im a daughter a pirate and a cop
Is this available either on Blu Ray or DVD in the UK?
www.essgee.com/html/PirateOLDHome.html
under merchandise, you can order the dvd or download the mp4
ah my school is doing this this year, i'm a pirate but the choreography is so perfect to this its not even funny
... culty smother =D ....... hehe
I love all the work in this production but really all the added material must have set the time span at around 4 hours or so. Too much.
its a fairly versatile role, tony azito, did a good, job, and so did this guy...but i prefer tony's
Funny
Recreating a scene from the central park production.
jack you're not fooling ant1

Y'know, 2 of the policemen are actually females.
haha i think it was planned.
no this is tony azitos song and part this guy is no good
I've had the pleasure of seeing D'Oyly Carte and they were WAY better than these fruits!
Dreadful! they are lip sinking (poorly sung at that) and Gilbert & Sullivan are rolling over in their graves at abuse their great work has suffered at the hands of these clowns. Shameful.
Jack Delmore nonsense ! This was all live. The vid is slightly out of sync, that’s all 🙄
