    It sounds like electronic music, but it is played by acustic instruments. Ligeti is a genious!

    Ligeti was indeed the perfect musician for the eerie soundtrack of "2001 A space odyssey"

    it's just not a good orchestral recording unless someone has a coughing fit right in the middle of it.

      absolutely! autechre had "incomplete without surface noise" written on one of their vinyls. i believe same principle applies here

    Ligeti a réalisé ce qu'il a fait en s'appuyant sur les fondations de la musique classique posées par les grands maîtres avant lui. Tout le monde, de Palestrina à Schoenberg, a joué un rôle fondamental dans la croissance de Ligeti pour devenir le compositeur que nous connaissons aujourd'hui. Si vous appréciez vraiment les œuvres de Ligeti, vous feriez bien de montrer un peu de respect à Bach et Mozart !!

      That's an "achrome" by Per Manzoni, and Italian "Arte Povera" artist. Made of a soft clay (kaolin) on canvas. Your welcome.

      I agree that horror movie soundtracks have ripped off Ligeti big time. But I find it has an almost Malherian sorrow to it. One of my favorites.
