  • Learn how to crochet a big scarf! This is great for men and women. The video is slower paced and uses just two different stitches so it's great for beginners, but it doesn't look like a beginner scarf!
For this project, you'll need 2 skeins of Color Made Easy by Lion brand or any size 5 yarn and a 11.50/P size crochet hook. The written pattern is available on my blog www.gingerknots.com. I would love to see your finished projects! Tag me on Instagram @ginger.knots!
TIPS: If you decide not to count your starting chains, be sure to stretch your chains before you measure.
Hear noises in the background?? My fiance was cooking Thanksgiving dinner and I wasn't going to stop him!

Honestly, I love the way you describe the steps -- bunny ears and all. I'm attempting to make this scarf for a coworker who has become a good friend -- he's going into the hospital for treatment and I wanted him to have something soft, comforting, and home-made. If it goes well, I want to make one for my dad as a Christmas gift as well (he just lost my aunt, his baby sister). Somehow, home-made/handmade gifts feel right to me, I'm pretty terrible at buying gifts -- but it's like, if I make them, I give a little bit of my joy/time/care to them. Anyway, thank you for the tutorial and thank you for not making us beginners feel "guilty" about not liking counting starting chains.

Thank you for this video. I love the fact that when the title of your video has the word "beginners"... it truly is for beginners. I have seen other RUclipsrs out there who say that their tutorials are for beginners but when you watch it, it is not. And it does not help that they add background music (which can be very distracting especially to a beginner). So thank you so much for making this video easy to follow and very clear. I'm going to subscribe shortly. :-)

Thank you so much for this tutorial! This is my first ever crochet project, and with your explanations I'm well on the way to making my own scarf. One thing I would love to see in the tutorial is how to change to a new ball of yarn when one runs out! I'm sure I can find it if I search, but would be nice if you went over that here since it's a big scarf and most people probably have to do it.
But once again, thanks. Very clear teaching.

I love this pattern! I am using double strands to crochet this Superscarf. It is a bulky scarf because I am using two strands together of I Love This Yarn Chunky , a variegated beige/brown tweedy look called Sandstone and a solid color called Sandfrost with the P Hook. But I am crocheting a chain to make the scarf 20 inches wide and then making it long , so the ridges go side to side rather than the length of the scarf. When you crochet the initial chain and all of the stitches very loosely, it makes a really soft scarf! It’s super bulky and will be super warm and it’s coming out beautifully. I just started tonight and you get far in a short time. It is a great tutorial. You make it so easy to follow, very clear showing how to crochet and where to put the stitches at a nice pace. Thank you! 😊💕 PS I am a new subscriber. 🧶

Before following your video, I had never done any crocheting before, so I was a bit hesitant about starting. But I followed everything exactly and my scarf turned out perfect! I love it so much and it's so warm :) A few rows in, I had redo everything to adjust the tension for the first line of stitches because I was unhappy with how tight I had originally made it, but it was definitely worth it to start again having had that extra practice. All of your tips were so helpful and I really appreciated how you explained every step. Thank you so so much!!!!

A really well explained tutorial. The fact that you personalized it as per how you don't like counting, like it fluffy and lose..it is how I'd wish tutorials were. They are of course always formal, traditional and appreciated however, yours is something I aimed to find in scarves I'd make.
I don't mind the talking since it helps you understand exactly how to do without getting lost.
Although I don't have that size a hook yet or such a bulky yarn, I won't be using this tutorial. But for my next project I'll definitely aim for this.
Thank you. You were very clear, and for once it was beginner's friendly.

What a great video. I had no idea that I even could use a larger hook than the recommended yarn size. I never liked how stiff the results would turn out. You explain things so well. I just subscribed.

So well explained!! Can't wait to watch more of your videos and try them out. Like someone else said, there was no bg music which was great , and it was just one stitch and truly is for beginners(also will help us just practice single crochet and get it more uniform ) AND also you explain the reason why you're doing something which i don't see a lot of people doing, we actually get to learn rather than just repeating something

I'm making this right now! Something about fall is making me want to crochet so many warm and chunky things, and this scarf fits the bill! I'm not a beginner but this tutorial was great!

I love the look of this scarf. I accidentally used a size 6 yarn and decided it was too big for a scarf so I kept going and made a throw blanket for my mom. She loves it. It's heavy (8 pounds) and super warm (she's always trying to get through winter without turning up the heat). Thank you for this tutorial. I love the ridges, I love how squishy and lofty it turns out. P.S. The nail polish is perfect.
