Bourbon Junkies 2023: Wild Turkey KS is a "C" at best on our Wild Turkey Tier List.
Bourbon Junkies 2024: The new KING of Bourbon??????
Oof
Right? 😂
I mean the whole point of the video is that there are now KS Camp Nelson bottles which has changed their perception on the product..
@@noahkimmel5174Wild Turkey KS has offered Camp Nelson selections for many years - just gotta pick the right one.
@noahkimmel5174 except the camp nelson KS was available last year too. But that's okay. Opinions and palettes can change of course. Just saying, your argument is faulty. I don't enjoy WT personally anyways...it is just meh to me.
And now.....No one can find KY Spirit.....
Nah, this channel doesn’t get enough views for that to happen 😂 it’s still a secret.
Readily available at my local Macadoodles in Jefferson City Missouri.
The real worry is the single barrel bottle that crushed this and others they did in their last Friday blind vid.
I've been telling people about em for years but they haven't gotten the hype I think they deserve. (Which isn't the best for that distilleries bottom line but is good thing for my wallet.)
Never seen one in Ohio.
That’s exactly what happened to the New Riff SiB at my local Total Wine after the Single Barrel showdown last week. 🙃
I bought a Camp Nelson C pick about 2 years ago that i am holding onto for a special occasion. From what i understand that is where some of their nice limited stuff comes from.
I had one of the cns on shelf and had to slow up to keep from crushing it didnt realize why it was good. Went and picked up another now that I knew what I was looking for. Thanks fellas!
I live about 6 miles from Camp Nelson. If you stand in front of the warehouses look across the way and see Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Kentucky Spirt maybe.
That’s cool
Just bought and cracked one, totally agree. I'm going back for backups!
Found CN-F back in September. I was shocked to see it on the label and immediately snatched a few bottles up. Might not be able to get some of the allocated bottles at a great price but every once in awhile ya find something sneaky good.
Agree 100%. See them for around 65 and always look for CN bottles after I tried a Total Wine pick from there.
Grabbed a CN-F about 2 months ago at my local store, one of the best sippers I’ve had in a while. Happy y’all made a video
I have loved these lately. Went, looked, and wallah, they are CN-E. Thanks for the tip!
I’ve had a CN-F Kentucky Spirit and loved it. However, I’m currently drinking my favorite Turkey pick to date - a Russel’s store pick from CN-A. It’s stellar.
Went out today and found some Kentucky Spirit CNE. Fantastic! Thank you for the recommendation and giving us great things to hunt versus the same. One of the reasons I love this channel. 🥃
Let’s go. I love the Camp Nelson Kentucky Spirits. Always hitters.
Thanks for the tip! Just snagged one.
Just got one of these where the batch was selected by Eddie Russell for my store. And is also a CN-F
I got a CN-E about 3-4 months ago. Haven't opened yet, to many other bottles open at the moment.
I bought a bottle of cn-e 2 months ago, one of the best Single barrels I’ve ever had
This is allocated in VA, managed to get one last drop cause nothing better, haven’t opened yet but looking forward to it now
Found two today, CNE and CNF. Left one for the next person. If they're as good as you say, the next time I get by that store I may pick up the last one. They had other ones but they were from different a warehouse. Keep up the good work!
Honestly just found out about the Camp Nelson bottles last week from a buddy because I had a CN-A on my shelf, banger of a bottle
I stashed a couple last week..ppl round here don't really know about it ..until now lol
Crazy coincidence! I literally just bought a CNE KS and it’s soooo good. Reminds me of JD10; beautiful oak presence, sugars, thick etc … I keep going back to it.
Thanks for the lead. I just snagged my CNF from a local shop in Marietta GA
Jason and Scott from Mash and Journey had a crazy Kentucky Spirit called Where's Jimmy. It was originally a Russell's Reserve that never hit target proof. One of my favorites.
That sounds delicious
Have a CN-F open that's pretty amazing.
I just found one here in North Carolina that is CN-E and Rick # 34 bottled on 9-26-23. So the day before the ones you got. So cool.
My favorite (Turkey at lesat) is a red lable single barrel picked from Camp Nelson. It was far and above better than the other several single barrles I have from Turkey. I also have a Kentucky Spirit Camp Nelson but have not cracked it yet.....guess I know what I am doing tonight! I picked it up a few months ago just because I saw the CN on the lable.
Love WT products but hav3 not tried this one. I see this bottle everywhere in middle TN but have never looked to see where they were warehoused. I'm hunting tomorrow for them. Rare breed is my mix of frequent drinkers, even more than Russell's 10 and Russell's reserve.
The last time I bought it, it was in the old style flat bottle. It was the best WT, that I've had. 👍
Had both CNE and CNF …fantastic, but the best this year is TYG…Fity seven in TX
Pick one of these up two months ago only because it had CN-E on the label. It is good.
Thanks boys! I picked up the only one on the shelf today CN-E!!! I’m so excited
Saw this video a day or two ago and said thanks for the tip. Drove 30 min to another state for msrp and grabbed 2 of the 3 CN-E. Tasting tonight and absolutely no disappointment at all. CN is the wild turkey hunt. Imagine these bottles at barrel proof 😳
Solid bottle. Grab a few from WV, and loved them.
Outstanding as always guys. Thank you for "the secret!"
Found at ABC in North Carolina for $60, CN E! Thanks for the tip!
Thanks guys. I got a bunch of that around me and now it’ll be gone soon. Really appreciate it 😢. Really thought it’d be under the radar for a while 🤣 I could slowly buy it
Bought my bottle marked “CN-F” a month or so ago after having a pour from my buddy’s CN-F bottle. Both are from rick 4. $45 before tax with a $10 coupon once BM matched TW’s price. Gotta say it was a good day.
I have 3 CN-F. All are Rick no. 5 all different barrels though. I have one open but it's a bottle I'm going to need at least 2 in reserve left before opening another lol.
Mine were $70 a pop though. My state seems to always be more expensive
My CN-F pick is alright but nothing outstanding.
@@Despite37 That’s how I felt about mine after cracking it, and am hoping it improves over time. My buddy’s bottle tho was better than your average bird.
FYI, my Kentucky Spirit is from last year, warehouse A (non camp nelson) rick no 1, and unfortunately, it looses to normal WT101 in a blind. Wasn't too disappointed because I got a really good price for it.
Thanks for the tip. Found one it’s delicious! My bottle of dangerous good.
This are no lies told here, the CN Kentucky Spirit are the really good. I have been able to get a few bottles they are bangers this is a hidden gem for sure.
I checked my local Total Wine and they are charging $65 for "regular" KY Spirit, and $95 for "Barrel Select" KY Spirit.
Essentially all of the CN bottles are Barrel Select and had a new UPC code put over top of them
Great info! I bought a bottle about a year ago and it was terrible. Not sure the of the Rickhouse ended up giving it away.
I don't mind honey in wild turkey but I prefer the caramel of rare breed, is rare breed the same in the new bottle or has it changed too?
Great video guys 👍.
I’ve always bought Kentucky Spirits if a store pick from anywhere but Total Wine or other big national chains. Never had a bad one. I actually prefer them to Russell’s Reserve Sib’s cause those don’t taste very “Wild Turkey” to me cause they don’t have the heavy rye, nutty funk taste I like.
Never had a Camp Nelson barrel, only ones from Tyrone campus so far.
My bottle of WTKS is one of my favorites. A lot of people say they are not worth it, without trying it, but I will let them keep thinking it is not.
How does it stack up against the NCF rare breed?
Thanks for the video btw, always on the lookout for some turkey.
Had 2 KY Spirit in the past. like McKenna, they were inconsistent. You were better off getting 3 WT 101.
I'll have to give it another look. Thanks guys
Damn the word is out- I’ve been buying Camp Nelson KS for over 2 years - I got a CNC the same year they had 1st Rickhouses release- absolute hitter !
I just got my bottle of new riff single barrel. Now I gotta go get this..
I recently picked up an 8 year CN-E pick RR pick, had to buy 3 at $65
The four corners Walmart in Kissimmee FL has it on closeout for 45.00
I didn’t know about the C-N notification, that said, Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit is and has always been my go to
Amazing bottle the CN bottles are top notch😊
Love WT getting more love!
I have a CN-F bottle I got shortly after this video came out. I saw the bottle at a local liquor store like 6 months ago I was debating to get and went back to having them in like 5-6 case. I pick up one and it's good. I might have to get one more soon too. It seems like these might sit at this liquor store for a while.
Normally, I drink everything neat. If you get that peppercorn taste in russell's product -try adding 3-5 drops of water into the pour and it you'll be able to taste the sweet oak, leather, and fruit.
I’ve got a cn-f bottle and it’s phenomenal
What is the most you would pay for these? In Michigan I’ve been seeing it in a couple stores, but it’s been priced around $80.
We did a Wild Turkey blind the other day and Kentucky Spirit was everyone’s choice.
I'm a Wild Turkey product lover and today I bought my first bottle of Kentucky Spirit. After comparing it to the WT 101, the WT 101 is as good or better for half the price. In my opinion, the Kentucky Spirit is not worth the extra cost. However, the Rare Breed is exceptional!
If it is a CN, Russels pick or Kentucky Spirit, it is an instant buy
Haven’t been a big fan of Kentucky Spirit but damn it I might give it another go
Good recommendation episode, gentlemen.
Found CN-F last winter and it is awesome. I was wondering why nobody was talking about them.
i live in ky and my local stores has replaced russ red label with this and rare breed which rare breed is my fav daily sipper but it is the first time in recent years i haven't seen russ red label on the shelf it has always been a bottle i drink regularly idk could just be a season thing with whiskey they have over stocked or maybe the boyz over at turkey are getting wild and making some moves "Alright Alright Alright"
Just curious if it was housed somewhere else is it still good?
Absolutely right, any cn wtks is worth a pickup. I have cnc and cnf that hold up to anything. But please remember because this isn’t the first time you’ve said it, but all, and I mean all, of the Kentucky spirit and Russell’s reserve SiB are, and always have been 8-10 years old. Russells have not gotten younger.
i think seans rt about the rickhouse turn over picked up a 9yr cn-e russells and a cn-f 10 year russells both in the past month
I agree on the old vs new bottles and the differences. That said, I can't recall a bottle of Wild Turkey, Russell's, Rare Breed, etc that I haven't enjoyed on some level. They've all been buys for me and I love that you can find them pretty regularly in the Boston, MA area for non price gouging prices, so long as it's not Russel's 13, etc.
Thanks for pointing out the CN code, learned something today :).
That's good to know. I'll be in Boston for the first time coming from Columbus next month. Can you point me in the right of some places to hit up? A RR store pick would be nice or any place w decent stuff for reasonable prices
Gary’s Liquors in Chestnut Hill will be the best prices around, not the hugest selection but NEVER a rip off. Right down the street in Dedham is a Total Wine. Yankee Spirits in Norwood is a good spot. Where in Boston will ya be, I can offer some more options.
@jheffernan13 that's very helpful! Honestly I'm not sure yet. The wife and I just started the Itinerary this week. We'll be in town for two days sightseeing.
Ahh, so probably more in town, the places I mentioned would be a 45+ min drive. I can recommend some spots but they will charge a bit more unfortunately. Like Liquor Land or Federal Wine and Spirits.
@jheffernan13 yes, we will likely get a hotel in the city for a night. Then head to New Hampshire after. So if there is places north, I may be able to sweet talk my wife into letting me make a pit stop on our way out!
I have a CN-E and a CN-F Ky Spirit Store picks… RAILS… definitely competes with Single Rickhouse… amazing juju
Hey dude. I just saw this vid. Been to 3 stores in Niagara falls today. Do you remember what store you got it at? I assume it was the US side correct? I live in the falls
Is there a good shot at picking up some of your bottles on the 16th? Planning on making the 3 hr trek north if so.
If you follow the en facebook page I’ll post what bottles will be available the day before.
Russell's Reserve SiB (standard or picks) has always been 8-10 years. There are some rare special ones that are 11-14 years old, but again, always 8-10 from the beginning (2014).
Technically 2013, but that's shelfers only.
I bought a bunch of T-shirts from Into the AM recently and when they asked where I heard about them I typed in BOURBON JUNKIES of course 😁😂
Appreciate the support buddy! Absolutely love their shit.
So far these guys seem to be the craziest Bourbon guys I've found on RUclips it would seem the name Bourbon Crazies would be more appropriate 😂
Got a Russell's SiB store pick CN-E, $70 Literally stacks up to single rick 😂
my 9 yr CN-F pick is alright, nothing crazy.
@@Despite37 That sucks. Mine is just short of 9yrs by 2 weeks. But it is so rich and dense, love it. Can't see spending $300+ on the Single Rick bottles. I've never paid $300+ for any bottle, even BTAC or Scotch.
The "feather bottles" are called fantail bottles FYI
people have been crapping on the Kentucky Spirit for a while, with no justification. i think those people just haven't had it or had an older bottling. I've had several of these. All were bangers.
Got mine this past week, though it's marked TYK if I'm reading it correctly. It's at $60. I enjoy WT RB and the Russell's SB. Either way, I'm enjoying the one I got. Thanks for the tip!
I see my Russell's Reserve PBS from warehouse TYR-B, floor 4 that is wonderful.
Is it better than WT 101 which is 1/3 the price?
I pass these up regularly
I was lucky enough, in the last 6 months, to come across a CN-E and a CN-F and a CN-F barrel pick that is liquid gold. The CN-F bottles are even pretty far above the CN-E imo.
For awhile ive been wanting to try kentucky spirit. My brother kept saying dont do it. Its just single barrel 101. Well, he got one before i did lol. Its fantastic. He just text me last night saying he found out why its so good. His is a CN-E. He must have seen this vid and checked his bottle. I was at a store today that had a pick for $50. Its not a CN so i didnt get it.
Have a Wild Turkey Single Barrel North Carolina state pick. Super tasty. Bottled 8-2-23. Warehouse CN-E. Rick 6. Barrel 22-0976. Enjoy
Found it today, CN-F at my local BevMo
Just scooped up a bottle of CN-A in Washington state a few days ago for $76. Highest liquor tax in the US but i can't find these bottles north of the border. 🤷🏻♂️
I have two, one is from CN-F. But I think the Russells Single Barrel and Rare Breed are better. Taste like a slightly elevated WT101, not worth the price IMO.
I got a CN-E, Rick 5, Barrel 3456.
Time for a fresh crack!
Appreciate the heads up fellas! 🍻
how can i purchase your bourbon
Crazy how disc golf is a real sport!
I bought a CN-F in September that was crazy good. Later bought a CNA (it had no hyphen for some reason) that was a Total Wine pick after another customer recommended it, but it was disappointing by comparison. I didn't even realize it was a pick until I got it home.
I'm wondering if that missing hyphen is indicative of something?
Man, don't tell me that! I just picked up a CNA at TW a little while ago. I wonder why it's missing that hyphen?
My local store had multiple CN-F's on the shelf, well they did until I bought them all😂
There are also a ton of Russell’s single barrel Camp Nelson out there and at $65, I’ll take those over Kentucky Spirit CNs every day.
How can you identify a Russell’s SiB Camp Nelson?
@@jthomas0298 Red label with gold letters. On the side of the bottle it will have the botlled date and warehouse info
Do the regular Russell's SiB normally show the rick house? Mine doesn't.
@@johnh8268the shelfers do not unfortunately. Even KY Spirit shelf bottles didn't designate the campus until late 2022/2023.
@@jthomas0298store pick Single barrel Russell's will designate warehouse, age, etc. but shelf bottles do not carry that information yet, unfortunately.
dang, my bottle came from warehouse F. wish it was from CNE
I see my Old Overholt bottle 👀
Would be curious if you blend rare breed and the CN spirit
Historically I’ve preferred Rare Breed, but you guys have me rethinking that, gotta go settle this now…in the middle of my workday!
I’ll stick with the 101 thanks.
My local store has cases of this sitting and its only $65.
