Rules:
- This is a low level run of zombero's hardtype mod: www.romhacking...
- The aim is to keep XP gain as low as possible without affecting my sanity.
- Hard mode, obviously
- No stat boosting items
- All other game mechanics are fair game!
Hardtype changes:
- HP: 20000 → 30000
- Makakaja → Tarukaja
- He can now use Hell Thrust without shocking a target. I don't know if this is a new move that's replaced something - maybe Maziodyne? Help me out here commenters.
I took on the Bandou Shrine before Noah in the hope that Demi-Fiend could learn Fire Repel in time for Luci, but alas it was not so. Anyway, all the Deva are easy but Zouchou is the easiest since we have the best damage options and for some reason he still hurts himself with his own repelled element. At least we can't completely wall him with only elec immunity now, although slapping Void Phys on the birds still brings us close. We just have to be wary of thrust crits on Demi. He doesn't use it very often though - I did this battle a lot of times and found that having Demi repel elec is still better than resisting phys.
We needed an Ice Repel here morph here and it took a looong time, probably a couple of hours of resets. After the amazing luck in the Mithra battle that seems fair enough, and it's the last morph I need to specifically gun for in this run, so I can finally retire the Diarahan morph squad. White Rider comes in at the end for a little XP boost.

Shoutouts to Kushinada and Uzume for providing me with so many healing items throughout the run with Lucky Find. Why carry heals when you could just have 25 Bead Chains? These are advanced strats.

The stock comic-book style grunt of the death SFX for these guys will forever be hilarious to me. Just being able to hear it in the mix along with whatever skill was used to finish them off along with the fade to dust/dark kill animation. You're at the home stretch now Jim! Thanks for all of your suffering from this challenge series along with DDS2.
A little background of me as a long time lurker, last Friday I bought myself another copy of the DDS games for archival purposes since I feel once SMTV comes out, any MegaTen games that aren't already $100+ on Amazon and such will only skyrocket from here on out (Till Sega finally bonks Atlus hard enough for them to understand modern console/PC ports are low risk/massive profit moves for the company)

@@bullblood_fan17 On the OST it's labelled "Shinjuku Hygienic Hospital" which is a hilarious translation. Any hospital that feels the need to explicitly state that it's hygienic is setting off alarm bells here.

May I ask what the low-level demons are for? Like Taraka and etc.
Fishing for skill morphs a la 4:06, Diarahan has a chance to randomly mutate into elemental repels which will make Luci a cakewalk in this mod. The reason they have Mediarahan as well is to stop Diarahan from successfully upgrading (usually 50% odds) so it will go straight to the random pulls
speaking of enemies reborn, which tribe leaders/bat do you think will be a challenge?
Honestly should curbstomp them all, those fights are pretty easy from what I remember. It's Meganada and the optional bosses that give me the fear.
@@JimReaperSaysUnsubscribe honestly I had more trouble with bat than meganada but that was because I almost got wiped by winds of hell, luckily I wised up and threw a magic mirror.
Jim what skillset are you aiming for in the Endgame?
Also I'm gonna guess you're gonna get Masakado's Magatama too.
Life Gain, all 4 element voids (void elec is out of reach though, but anti- does the job) Pierce, Focus, Divine Shot
And yep, that's why I'm doing these fights.
@@JimReaperSaysUnsubscribe I recall you saying you'd try to fight Lucy without fighting the Devas to lower your final level. Is it even possible to fight (I mean survive) Hardtype Lucy without Masakados?
@@deandelvin9924 Well I made a poll for whether I should go all bosses or minimum level Luci and all bosses won out. It is certainly possible at level 53 (true minimum) without Masakados thanks to the element void passives but I think I would've had to route differently to get Void Elec so I could ingest a phys resist magatama. Or just ingest Adama (repels elec) and pray he doesn't use Hades Blast. At that level I would need to keep Life Bonus to survive Infinite Light with reasonable consistency. Endure wouldn't hurt either, but then that's 7 skill slots on defensive passives so all he could do is keep Pierce and throw punches. Most of the damage comes from repelled magic though so it would work out with some luck.

Most demons take an hour or so to make yeah. My game file is 120 hours deep, but ofc that doesn't include all the planning and resetting for wild skill changes :')

Do you consider it cheating to use masakados?
Not at all, this is hardtype after all and it's been nerfed anyway. But it is necessary to survive Luci's Hades Blast and Weeping Heaven attacks.
