dude, very similar thing happened to me on my 1100. I was trying to install the passenger seat, and the back screw came off just fine, but the one closer to the rider's seat, i put one turn on the hex key, and it immediately stripped! I tried an extractor, and still can't get it out. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to take it to a professional and pay them to do it without scratching the fender all to hell. You are not alone!

Ahh damn man, I’m sorry to hear that you are dealing with this as well! It’s so freaking frustrating. Yeah… I ended up taking mine to a professional. The way he got it out was by taking the rear fender off and getting at it from both sides. Good luck!

Stuff happens, I have a 50 year old bug and have broken stuff to the point of spending a good while on one bolt. Try seeing if you can get to it from the inside of the fender and backing it out I believe they go the whole way through the fender. Good luck, things can be fixed, worst case you may have to re-thread the hole or go a size up.

You got it! The solution was to take the fender off and get at it from the inside. Bolts can literally take all day to get out!
You are right, ultimately there was no irreversible damage.

    Do not worry! Sh*t happens...
I had a sump bolt get stuck once. I ended handing it over to a professional as I was worried that I could make the problem worse trying to fix it myself. Once it's fixed you can move forward and forget about what happened ;)

Have someone weld a socket to the bolt and back it out

That could have worked! I would need to find someone who knows how to weld also lol

Yea I would just replace the fender at that point. Lol

Yeah, I could have. I was determined to conquer the bolt one way or another. It would be a good opportunity to decide if I wanted to go stock or something aftermarket also.
