I’ve had all types of iron sets including titleist t100, t300 taylormade sim2 irons mizuno irons and srixon zx7. My personal opinion is the srixon zx7 are the best feeling and most forgiving out of all of them best irons I’ve ever had hands down.
Have been playing AP2s for many years. I figured the T100 would be my next set, but after demoing many heads, went with ZX7. Got them a couple weeks ago and absolutely love them. The feel is superb and i like the workability.
I bought a set of Srixon Z585 4 years ago and still play them. They've been great. I went ahead and bought the Z785 driver and a Z85 hybrid that work really well. Love these clubs !
1 handicapper here. Been gaming Titleist AP2 712 for 10 years now. Just ordered a set of the Srixon ZX7, mainly because of the price difference. They both feel great and the thicker top line doesn't bother me too much. I'm going to love the extra yards as well, as my ZX7 set will be a club stronger than my gamer!
Great video Mike. I've played both titleist and Srixon irons in the past and both companies make fantastic irons but I think I'd want the Srixon ZX7 's in my bag.
I struggle believing those TM numbers. I think you have your Normalize settings off a little bit. Swinging 87-89 mph, there's no way you're getting 190+ yards of carry. May want to look into what ball setting is on, as those numbers do not look right. Unless you have it set to a higher altitude.
Thought this was a little odd as well. I have the Z785 and my swing speed with my 7 iron is around 90mph. I carry it 185 yards but I also live 5,000' above sea level.

I do not understand the launch monitor data in this video. 121mph ball speed with 20 launch angle and 5000 spin is 175 not 190 yards carry - these are basically my numbers as well and an online launch monitor will confirm them also - the way you make it 190 yards is hitting at 5000 feet elevation

Michael, on your original ZX7 review (along with the ZX5), you were swinging the ZX7 at 88.3 and ball speed at 124.4, spin at 6001, and carried an average 175.6. Here 👆🏼you had the same swing speed and ball speed, but spin at 4913, and carried an average 192.4. Different ball? What gives?
@@mr-dpc-5018 they're bogus. He is about a 170 to 175 carry at best. In outdoor conditions, it would be even less. The T100 spins more than the zx7 and its also 2 degrees weaker loft. His machine is way off. His swing speed is only 86 or 87 mph but I'm not sure that is accurate either.
As always great review. Any chance of doing a comparison review between the ZX7 and Wilson Staff CB? Two underrated clubs at a similar price point. Thanks.
I would agree with this after watching multiple reviews. I have demoed the ZX7s a few times and I love the extra yardage but they seems to go as high as my T100 irons. I was getting almost 10 yards more with the ZX7. I love the look of the blade which is what Titelist seems to be going more for. I’m just trying to muster up the courage to order the ZX7s but when I heard about the T100s clubs, I want to give them a try.
I was never even considering Srixon irons and left with the zx7’s... the numbers didn’t lie and it feels insanely amazing coming from jpx900 hot metals. Hit every single head in the PGA superstore and just couldn’t get away from them. Saved a good chunk of cash too!
Always like Michaels reviews and videos. Solid information, data provided, great basic golf motion, and always good player oriented information shared which can be trusted. I have the Srixon Z 785/Z 585 combo set and really enjoy. Have played Titleist AP2 for a few years but lean towards the Srixon. I feel the Srixons are a bit longer in the long irons. Both great clubs so go test them both as he states. Nippon Modus 3 shafts as standard with Srixon is another benefit IMO.
Got these n the recoil 95 shafts. Best combination I’ve ever had n irons by a lot. Workable heads with graphite shafts that perform like steel. Money!!!
Those numbers pretty much confirm the loft as the cause for the minimal performance difference. 2 degrees is a 1/2 club difference, and 5 yards difference is about a 1/2 club's worth. Other than that, it's just personal feel and preference for looks. If you had to get nit-picky with the data, you would need to look at the mishits to determine how forgiving they are (in terms of yards lost on the different types of mis-hits). Nice review/comparison video.
Interesting that the T100 seemed to have the better distance dispersion. There was that one on the ZX7 where you really crushed it and it jumped in distance. I think a player who is thinking about an iron of this type would value this level of distance control.
The ZX7 Std. deviation was actually less on carry, BS and launch - the T100 tighter on spin. That long one was only 4 yards longer than the average for ZX7. T100 also had a longer carry on one shot. The T100 was 9.5 yards between longest and shortest, the ZX7 7.1 yards. Probably comes down to strike quality. Very similar performance overall, hit 10 more and the numbers could reverse.
With the Srixon set, it appears easy to blend the set with ZX5 on the longer clubs. Can a similar thing be done with the Titleist clubs? If so, blend with what?
What is the point of a 7 iron that goes 190, you basically have 7 clubs separating out to 300 yards and only 5 clubs below 190 yards where all the scoring is done, a seven iron should be 35 degrees max. If you buy a set of clubs with a 32 or less degree seven iron your basically saying look how far I hit it, the fact I took eight is irrelevant they all went a long way.
