Will you be starting a campaign to have Johnny Mathis become a recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors? Why has Johnny Mathis not been an awardee? It's about time before he passes away. His voice, his impact on the music industry are legendary, yet still has not received that highest honor.
I will go listen to his music now I don’t have time for this story..,that’s another time thank God he lived to see 90yrs that a lot of musicians have seen..

Johnny Mathis, I absolutely love you! I feel as though I have actually grown up with you. Everyone in my entire family plays your music, including your biggest fan....me. I cannot imagine setting out on an extended car trip without your beautiful voice playing through the sound system. I have heard you in person, and catch every televised performance by you. Mr. Mathis, you truly are, "Wonderful, Wonderful"!!!!!! I hope to hear you sing more for us in the future when you can. I cannot imagine a world without your velvet voice. Thank you for making me smile and sing since I was small child, now for over 60 years. Thank you, Thank you.❤
Johnny Mathis has been my favorite artist for most of my life. I am now 77 yrs. young and my first album purchased as a young teenager was "Chances Are" which I still own and enjoy today! There has never been another. musical artist like him. He and Nancy Wilson were the best-selling artist of all time and have provided me and others many hours of wonderful music for all our lives. We still love you Mr. Mathis and "Thank You for your Music"!!!❤🎉😂😊
I am also 77 and I spun "Heavenly" (a Xmas present my sophomore year in high school from my boyfriend) and "Greatest Hits" LPs a thousand times. I was sure Johnny was singing to me. And oh, Nancy Wilson is also so very close to my heart. You and I gotta be soul mates....
I've spent many hours listening to Misty, Chance Are, Wonderful Wonderful, and many other Johnny Mathis hits throughout my life. He's an American treasure, and I'm glad he's still with us.
I so agree with you on this great treasure that is still with us. I recall singing his songs when I was in high school and just fell in love with his music. Between him and Nat King Cole I keep their music very close(got too) as their Christmas Album are my very favorite. So when I listen to this music today I have the biggest smile on my face, as I did in high school. ❤❤❤
There is no one else like Johnny on the face of the planet. He is totally unique. His voice is God-given and instantly recognizable. He is humble and completely approachable to his millions of fans, most of whom have been following him since the beginning of his career.

I got a chance to see Johnny 2 times in concert….what an amazing performer . He sounds today as he did when he first started singing . He is simply amazing, and a kind and gentle soul! God bless you Johnny Mathis. You are truly blessed with a phenomenal voice.
OMG what's not to love ? I've loved him my whole adult life. l have seen Johnny live on stage three times and it's always such a thrill. His voice and facial expressions are mesmerizing, he hasn't lost his touch . HUGS ALWAYS JOHNNY .
I was born in 1953. I could hear my mom playing Johnny's music throughout the house as a kid. What I didn't know was the athletic abilities he possessed track and field and basketball. Even with those talents the one that drove him was his musical genius. He sang so beautifully. Speaking of people in general we always want to find something negative about a person's "hence the comment about his eyes!." Johnny was an artist who lived a life that God chose for him to live and he did just that.
I too grew up listening to Johnny's music as my parents loved his singing so much so that I could sing his songs when I was around 5 years old. Even in her old age, my mom would listen to Johnny's songs over and over, and in later years, having dementia, she still remembered him!
Everyone wants to know the "Real person" behind the actor or musician. They create a public persona to step in and out of to live in this world. However, we know that people have problems regardless of how wonderful of a person they may be. We want to see that they are human like us despite possessing great talent. But what we found is that they aren't like us. Their demons may extend more than ours because of their success. You know it's a lie when you only hear flattering information about a person.
Johnny Mathis was the 1st concert I went to with my husband. That was 50 years ago. And, guess who opened for him? The one and only Tina Turner. Wow I’m old!!!❤
Johnny Mathis has been MY HERO of music since I heard his beautiful voice when I was a young Child. I learned to play the piano and my favorite song I learned was, MISTY. I no longer play at 75 years of age but I remember and can STILL Play MISTY. Mr. Mathis is one of the most Popular and Talented Individuals Ever, with a voice that will NEVER be duplicated. I'm ever so thankful that I lived in this lifetime to appreciate abd enjoy this Great and REMARKABLE Individual. SING ON JOHNNY! I love you Dearly!
He has made so many people's life so much more enjoyable with great talent and his mind and gentle nature have enjoyed so Many happy times listening to him from the start you could say we have grown old together and I'm very grateful
Your synopsis of Johnny Mathis is outstanding. My question is: Why hasn't Johnny Mathis been a recipient of Kennedy Center Honors Awards. He surely deserves it; more so than LL Cool J or Queen Latifah? So why hasn't he received the honor before he dies? Just a question.
I totally agree and have posted a request at The Kennedy Center Awards site to PLEASE CONSIDER Johnny Mathis as a HONOREE. And PLEASE DO SO before he passes!!! Duh !
I grew up in the 50a and 60s listening and roller skating to Johnny Mathis's music and have his CD. My sister, used to always sing Chances Are with her beautiful tone sounding like Nancy Wilson. Johnny brought so much love to the world with his voice and sounds. It made people desire to marry right out of high school. He is such an historical legacy. I just love him!
What can I say, I have loved Johnny Mathis since I was a freshman in high school (many years ago) in California. His style was always captivating. God bless you Johnny for all the years of great vocals you have given us.
Johnny's voice and song styling consoled me many a time throughout my younger years. He was "Wonderful, Wonderful!" God blessed him with such a voice and talent, and he in return passed it on to us. You've earned a place in Heaven, for sure.
I doubt that there is anything negative about Johnny Mathis. He deserves all the success and acclaim that has come his way. Good for him and for those who believed in him.
Everyone has something negative in their life. Yes, he has led a good life and received many awards ,but when he dies, those things won't matter when he's standing in judgement. His "personal life" will matter and unless he honestly repents about his homosexuality and accepts Jesus as his Lord and savior, he will hear the most dreaded words in the Bible. Homosexuals can't enter heaven no matter what the pope says or how many laws are passed that allows them to legally marry. Laws are man made. God wrote his laws that most people anymore choose to forget or think they are outdated. You wanted to know what we thought about the video and I'm giving my honest opinion.
@@nancysmith6685 Why should he repent for being homosexual? That is his nature. That made him the wonderful talent and kind man he is. Why don't you tell God that it is his fault that Mathis is gay. Johnny Mathis is gay because God made him this way. If being gay is part of his greatness, more power to him. Hurrrraaaayyyyy!!!!
@@nancysmith6685 Are you completely out of your mind?? "Repents about his homosexuality"?? Who died and made YOU boss? Johnny Mathis will in all likelihood enter heaven before you ever make it to the gates, O Judgmental One. Wow, you are truly unbelievable! Homosexuality is a GENETIC thing, and there's not a damned thing those born with it can do about it. But oh how easy it is for you to sit in judgment of him! Since you love your Bible so much, remember this one? Bible Gateway Matthew 7 :: NIV. "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
Always loved Johnny Mathis growing up so much that I had 15 of his albums in high school. He is a phenomenal Talent and this is very good coverage of my favorite musician Johnny Mathis
He is so handsome. I fell in love with him in one of his tv concerts. Something about his sweet demeanor touched my heart & soul. Thank you Johnny for sharing your talent with us. Bless you.
He IS a very sweet human being. I worked for CBS-TV in the 1960s, and got a chance to meet him and take photographs with him when he appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. He could not have been nicer or more accommodating. He even said, "Let's take a profile pic now!" And then kissed me on the lips to say goodbye. A teenager's dream come true!
Mr. Mathis, He is an American Treasure without question, he has been A part of my life S long as I can remember, my Beloved Mother played his and Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, in her Bedroom each night, once I came into the world these records were played in my nursery, I am 60 years old he is the Best we have .
More click bait! Not a single word about the way he lives or how sad it is. What is really sad is that uncovered files has to resort to false headlines in order to talk about one of the greatest artist to ever grace the American music scene. SHAME ON YOU!!!
Johnny Mathis was and still is one of the best singers ever!! I’ve seen him throughout my years at the Latin Casino Club every time he came to New Jersey. He will always be my favorite singer! Thank you Johnny ❤❤❤
I’m so glad I met Johnny Mathis he’s the greatest I just love him I was on a TV show with him in 1956 has a fabulous personality. God bless you Johnny at 90 years old. Merry Christmas to you.🎄🙏🏻

I love this man voice, he comes a cross with love in his heart. I could listen to his voice for ever his voice is a blessing, for the people who needs love in there hearts. I could keep on writing but I think people know his loving voice, little needs to be said. ❤❤❤
I've always loved Johnny Mathis. He had a few siblings and likely Nieces and Nephews. He gave so much to the world. I wish his later days to be full of joy.
A true living legend Johnny Mathis sang and enchanted many generations. I am one of them, now he is 87 years old and continues to sing and enchant the world and enchanting the world with your wonderful voice, you will remain alive in my heart as long as it beats gratitude Johnny Mahis ❤
Johnny Mathis regardless of his real sexuality will remain my fav balladeer whose mellow and sweet voice is uncontestable. His songs will be heard for years and will forever be part of sweet memories of all ages.
I was a teenage kid in the sixties when I decided to play one of his albums from my parent's record collection and stereo. His song "wonderful, wonderful" was like a magic carpet ride from his melodious voice. The movie "Same time next year" became so memorable with the song that was sung by Mathis and Jane Olivor. It was wonderful but did not win the Oscar for best song as most people thought.
I totally enjoyed this video. I love to hear that magical voice of his. Especially the Christmas ones. He has accomplished so much in his life. So proud to be a fan of his.He sort of looks and reminds me of my Dad. 😊❤❤
My mom adored him. We took her to so many of his concerts. I wish I knew he had a cookbook as my mom too also loved to cook and collected cookbooks! My memories of my childhood was my mom singing and listening to his music.
If the man says he’s happy . Leave it there. He’s always been such a wonderful human being.❤️🙏my mom woke us up with Johnny Mathis on Saturday mornings .❤
Johnny Mathis has been my favorite singer since the late 60's. i had all his vinyl albums (long discarded records when CDs came along). Such a smooth voice - like velvet. Can't tell you how many times I've slow danced or made sweet love to his music.
I’m 65, my Dad listened to JM and I always loved his distinctive vocal sound and music. I don’t see sadness in is eyes , I only see soul. I think he is a courageous man for being unafraid to be his self. I miss seeing him and hearing him sing. 🎤 In my own life, I was lucky to sing with some very great jazz musicians in my 30’s & 40’s. After they passed away, the only people in the small region I lived in who were musicians, were always jealous of my musical ties to the great people I worked with and they alienated me. I know what it’s like to disappear from the music scene and I think I know how JM might feel these days. I’ll always remember him as a great singer with a beautiful mild manner. ❤
He has always been very handsome and a great talent, with an amazing vocals. A gentle persona about him. Great history. Huge talents and and fantastic person. What an amazing person mand an amazing story of his coming up.
Loved hearing this voice while growing up. Nice looking man, even at his current age. His eyes were always beautiful; not sure where people think that they look sad. He always seemed happy to me.
He is such a brilliant artist ..one of a kind and I will always wish and pray for him that he will always be guided by god and stay happy even on his retired years ,he has made millions of hearts happy.Godbless you johnny!!You will always be in my heart..Your the best magical soulful singer I've ever heared. You are my top favorite always remember this...I'm your avid fan from the Philippines!!
I'm sure Johnny Mathis lives just fine and he has money I have lived as fine and I'll be 90 in May2024 for the same age and I live a very active life don't put down people that are in there 80s and 90s we're living longer now and we're in Better Health than some of the young people cuz we have found out what's bad for us and cut out all the bad stuff where they're still doing it eating the wrong things and drinking too much so we're in Better Health than they are.
“WOW” what a wonderful life…. Johnny for me you are the most greatest “ballard” singer🎤I’ve ever heard I just enjoy listening to your remarkable voice daily “God Bless you and thank you for this Fantadtic voice truly a gift luv A❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯
I want to hear his Best orchestral recording with his own orchestra. Thanks for this video. There is more to Mathis than I imagined. Ballad singer? Well, I like him anyway
When I was 19 years old, I worked for the District of Columbia Park Service. As an employee, I was able to get free tickets to shows at the Carter Barron Amphitheater; a top performance venue before the Kennedy Center opened. I took my younger sister to see Johnny Mathis; we had grown up hearing the Mathis Magic. I remember looking at him through a pair of binoculars and being mesmerized by the twinkle in his eyes. To this day I play all of his Christmas albums during the holidays. I'm so glad to have grown up with his music. God bless you, JM.
No need to gossip, or cast aspersions, Johnny has done more than greatness in achievement - comparable to others in all fields - to stand among the best of the best. There is nothing wrong with his eyes - we are what we are born to be and become - you just can't base an opinion on the way a person's features are they were born to. Let's celebrate Johnny for a life so remarkable - it will be difficult to ever equal.
I just love it. It wasn’t in my ear. But I remember the mother playing his music. Thank you so much for sharing. This makes me flashback although it wasn’t my area.
Johnny Mathis is unique with a voice from heaven (in his heyday). My children grew up with his songs also listening to them with me. His songs are eternal until the world ends, and will never be forgotten. They evoke many memories for me. I'm glad he still with us. God bless you, Johnny Mathis!
Oh how lucky we are to have had this most beautiful and relevant of singers in our lives for many generations. We love you Johnny, the singer and the man. God bless you always. 28:14 😅
I loved this documentary on Johnny Mathis. But why not since I love John. He has ways been one of the most talented and noble singer in the past 80 years and his music is so expressive. I love this awesomely talented man. Also even at 90 he is so handsome. N
The only thing that is sad is the title for this video. Much better would be something like, "The Charmed Life and Decades of Stardom of Johnny Mathis, now entering his nineties". He had loving and supporting parents who started cultivating a music career for him at age 5. He was a star athelete in High School track and field, but eventually had to choose between music and atheletics. He wisely chose music.
Also for a chapter: "Johnny Mathis, master healer of sadness". Some of his songs are so mysterious, so out of this world, they can help when one feels gloomy or depressed. My favorite example is "A Certain Smile".
So very true! I am appalled by the title of this documentary which has absolutely nothing to do with how Johnny is living his life. Makes me sick how the media is so conniving.
I saw him live many years ago, there are no words for the sound of this mans voice, i had chills i cried unreal. He is a legand. I feel privlaged that i got the chance to hear him live,my my played him constantly when i was a child so he is extra special to me.@@alexp3752
Mitch Miller was CEO of CBS Records who gave Johnny his market niche . Johnny had no where to really stand out and Mitch said "concentrate on romantic music". while "romantic music" means many things to many people at that time and place it meant music which could follow you and your date from dinner to the bedroom and have you both drugged by sheer sound if nothing else. While certain kinds of soul music have given more recent generations a touchstone of cooperative rhythm there has always beeen something about intoxicating crooning alone which has well accompanies the act of love without adding anything jarring to the proceedings. Mitch was a very smart man and knew this angle as relevant to record sales. Johnny's vocal tone covers the moaning of both males and females when played at enthusiastic volume.
I love this man. I have seen him about 50 times. I met him at LAX and was thrilled. We went on the same plane. It was the thrill of my life. He kissed me on the cheek. Just saw him in Providence in September. Couldn’t believe how beautiful he sang. I know he will be gone soon but he will always be in my heart. 😮❤
Thanks for visiting The Uncovered Files Channel! I hope you enjoy the video!

@@valsblueforrest2961 I'm sorry but I have to go by what the Bible says. Its an abomination to God.
@@nancysmith6685 No, dear, YOU are an abomination to god!
Always loved Johnny Mathis growing up so much that I had 15 of his albums in high school. He is a phenomenal Talent and this is very good coverage of my favorite musician Johnny Mathis
This man is very professional and good 😊❤🎉God bless his
He is so handsome.
Mr. Mathis,
He is an American Treasure without question, he has been A part of my life S long as I can remember, my Beloved Mother played his and Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, in her Bedroom each night, once I came into the world these records were played in my nursery, I am 60 years old he is the Best we have .
Amazing talent that I am so blessed to have witnessed a great part of his career, and my father introduced me to his 50’s classic songs.
Wonderful singer, very talented!
I love listening to his lovely Christmas songs and shows so nice!
More click bait! Not a single word about the way he lives or how sad it is. What is really sad is that uncovered files has to resort to false headlines in order to talk about one of the greatest artist to ever grace the American music scene. SHAME ON YOU!!!
#468 thank you…well said…
Wish I could give you a million likes for your comment 😅
Thank you. I clicked off after 9 seconds.

I've always loved Johnny Mathis. He had
a few siblings and likely Nieces and Nephews. He gave so much to the world. I wish his later days to be full of joy.
absolutely true…! I pray his life is full of love , and happiness…🙏🏼

❤Truly a remarkable man.Love his music and great athlete 😊
Thank you Johnny for being part of my life.I'm grateful for the music that has held defining memories.
My all time favourite singer.
Even shined as an athelete, amazing.
Absolutely the most heavenly voice to me during the 6os, and his music was so special, even to Classical musicians. Such an iconic vocal sound.
He is handsome, wholesome, and a perfect performer!
He is not "wholesome."
How lucky for you to know him personally.
Johnny has since died. Love his voice. One of the great singers of our time!
He may be 88, but he's still alive.
Such a beloved singer throughout the ages! Everyone loved him.
And those of us who are still here STILL love him!! He has always projected kindness and respect for others. What a great guy!!!
Johnny for me you are the most greatest “ballard” singer🎤I’ve ever heard I just enjoy listening to your remarkable voice daily “God Bless you and thank you for this Fantadtic voice truly a gift luv A❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯
Well I really enjoyed learning about his life! Had no clue! And was and still is….ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGERS🎉
"DISPERSION"....wrong context.
You needed to have said ASPERSION or DISPARITY.
#MAGA.
So glad he’s still living at almost 90
I just love it. It wasn’t in my ear. But I remember the mother playing his music. Thank you so much for sharing. This makes me flashback although it wasn’t my area.
He has such a beautiful voice!!!!
There's nothing sad about him🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 being with one record compy his whole life, he's handsome and kind and God loves him and so do l❤️🖤💚✊🏾❤️🖤💚🥰
A unique and talented artist. Hats off to Him.❤
Johnny Mathis IS the best ballad singer in the world. His voice has always be the best ear candy we could have. No one compares!
Johnny Mathis is unique with a voice from heaven (in his heyday). My children grew up with his songs also listening to them with me. His songs are eternal until the world ends, and will never be forgotten. They evoke many memories for me. I'm glad he still with us. God bless you, Johnny Mathis!
I have always loved him and his music!
N
I loved his music. I listen still 2 his music. Very beautiful

The title is misleading, but the video is still good as a biography of Johnny Mathis.
Anything with "sad" "revealed" "tragic" "at last" "the truth about" and "shocking" is clickbait. I fall for it, too!
I'll always love to hear Johnny Mathis Songs, sine the Mid-50's, I still play his music on RUclips he is a Music Icon.
Johnny Mathis is a legend and a man of tremendous strength and courage. Also, he is one of the greatest singers that have ever lived!
Absolutely amazing! His talent is beyond words!
A talented singer
I love this man. I have seen him about 50 times. I met him at LAX and was thrilled. We went on the same plane. It was the thrill of my life. He kissed me on the cheek. Just saw him in Providence in September. Couldn’t believe how beautiful he sang. I know he will be gone soon but he will always be in my heart. 😮❤
