Fly Fishing Small Stream Trout || Bear Creek and SECRET STREAM 1
Got a late start on the day getting in the water around 10am at Bear Creek inside Lair O' The Bear Park. Started working my way upstream with a hopper dropper rig that resulted in 1 fish. Before long, the park got crowded with families and there were a lot of kids swimming. I decided to move downstream and hopped into the canyon where it was steeper and less accessible. Hooked one fish here, but lost it. Decided to leave because of how difficult it was to cast and move in this area. Figured next thing would be to try Clear Creek near Golden, but everything at lower elevations was overrun with tubers and whitewater rafters. I eventually just looked at the GPS and picked a blue line that was a tributary of Clear Creek to try out (SECRET STREAM 1) and lucked into some amazing brook trout dry fly fishing.

My first time on Bear Creek was this year, and I stopped at both those spots. Only fish of the day was at that highway pull off. Yesterday I spent my day on a creek that feeds into Clear Creek pulling in brook and rainbows. Love crawling around on bluelines! Thanks for sharing.

What kind of net do you use?

Measure Net. Nice to have a quick idea of how big a fish is and theyre pretty durable.
