  • The Birdsville Track links the towns of Birdsville (Qld) and Marree (SA). 519 kilometres in length, plenty to see as you journey through the desert dunes, gibber plains and historical ruins of the pioneers of long ago.
The trek takes 2 days if you take the various sites, campgrounds and photographic opportunities. The track isn't particularly difficult however the gibbers , stray cattle and long haulage trucks can be a challenge. The shredded tyres on the side of the road are testimony to the wear and tear the gibbers have on tyres. Make sure you have spares !

    Great video!!
I'm in Melbourne and had planned to do a big trip earlier this year to Marree then Birdsville , but Covid and snap border closures put a stop to it. Hopefully next year.

Nice one. When were you actually on the road? I'm hoping to get back there in about 2 week's time. You are spot-on about the gibbers but all part of the fun and adventure.

Hi - we were on the track 3 weeks ago. The inner track was shut due to rain . Amazing countryside!

@@Mikes4KProductions A beautiful area indeed. All of that region plus the Channel Country some of the best in the nation, in my opinion.

@@Mikes4KProductions what do you mean by the inner track closed? Isn't it just one track? Great video overview btw

@@blasio17 There are in fact 2 - the inner track is susceptible to rain and is often closed. Runs between Clifton Hills and Birdsville). The main track is well maintained! There is also a bypass track near Coopers Creek when there is flooding ( normally closed ) .

With them ruts would it be best if I slow down and drive on them or just speed up

Take it easy - too much cattle and wildlife roaming to go fast . Also bull dust in places. The track varies and graders maintain the road . Drive to the conditions. There are a lot worse roads .

If it ever opens, that will be the most remote Mc Donalds on the planet. Ant WTF did you take that fishing rod out there for.?
