I live thousands and thousands miles away from Australia and I have never been to it either too but it's kind of so fascinating to watch how people lead such simple lives in the remotest parts of the country. Loved that song btw.
I live in the UK but Birdsville races is on my bucket list. I have a reservation with a Brisbane travel Company and COVID permitting I will be there later this year. If the race meeting is cancelled I will let the deposit roll over till it eventually happens. Keep a beer cold for me on arrival.
As a Queenslander I'd like to wish you the best time in Oz mate. Awesome that you are going to spend sometime in the heart of this great country.. it's a truly spectacular countryside. Try a Cooper's pale ale. It's a nice drop .
Had some great times here during the 1980’s when I lived in Adelaide. It’s a very long way from Adelaide, across the Simpson Desert and over 1200 sand dunes, some needing a few runs to get over the tops of the bigger dunes. Have been there in the dry and after a big wet, fantastic to see the desert transformed into a magnificent flower display. Made it to the race’s a couple of times. Amazing to see so many aircraft fly in for the races- looks like a supermarket car park, but aircraft, not vehicles. As a Pom living in Tasmania, I have loved every trip and experience in this wonderful country, especially the vast outback.
It sounds like u had a real blast there & what is a Pom ? I'm in america & have never been to Australia in my life but would love to go there 1 day lol .
@@jackyblue67same10 Hi, yes indeed, every trip was different, sometimes in the dry and not a flower in sight, other times after the rains (rare out here) bogged up to the axles an red mud like glue and doing a mile an hour. A 'Pom' is a slang term for an English person, the native born Aussies call us imports, 'Poms'. @@jackyblue67same10 Australia started as a penal colony where the most "notables" of citizens from the UK ended up.
