That’s a schmick looking set up and the 284 is such an underrated cartridge. It didn’t get a great start in life because it was originally put in lever actions but with the rebated rim and big case capacity it’s such a sleeper. Nearly built one myself but got a magnum action given to me so heading down the 7 PRC rabbit hole. Great vid, thanks for putting it together.
Great Setup, I have been very interested in your 284 vids. I'm thinking about doing something very similar on a Tikka action with the 284, 21in barrel. I was wondering if you had any experience with other powers as I don't have RL26 and we all know it's easier to get unicorn dust than that stuff, in particular have you used 2209? My Goal is be to send a 175gn down range at at least 2700fps with a power that I can get my hands on.
Thanks man. To be honest the 7mm PRC is so similar, uses the same powders and achieves alittle more velocity. But if your going for the 284 win go for it. Rl17 and rl23 is good as well and will get you close to 2700 fps. I personally would use the 180 grain eldm or the 162 eldm as the eldx tends to run slightly higher pressure due to the longer shank. I've never played with ar2208 or 2209 in the 284 win as I prefer other powders. Imr4831 is a good powder. Accuracy always trumps velocity so chase groups not speed. Use lapua brass and CCi primers. Best combo I have found
@hardantlerhunting9691 yeah mate let us know how it goes, The only reason I don't run a muzzle is because of the noise and need too wear ear muffs, It would be interesting to see if the suppressor dampens the noise enough too not need ear plugs with the muzzle break attached on the end. cheers
Considered going to the arca MTN bipod? Weight difference in not adding the pic rail would mean total weights pretty much the same but you can slide the bipod way down the rifle when transporting and have a cleaner underside for shooting from a pack etc.
Hey man, I don't believe so, but I'm sure MDT has a solution for that. Barrel length, are you asking in the 284 win catridge or something else. I've run barrels down to 12 inches in 284, 10inches in 308 win and many other cartridges and calibers. If you send a follow-up question, I'll try to help on something more specific. Thanks
Sorry man, was trying to enjoy your presentation but I pulled the pin at 2min 40. That back ground sound ( I could not call that music) was no good for me. It may be after 28 yrs Regular Army (Infantry) but mate, that sound was off putting sorry. Take care

@Australian.Hunting.Backcountry very true. I see, i think if I built a magnum 7mm, it would be a 3.6 OAL 28 nosler or RUM....one day, one day
@@hardantlerhunting9691 I have a 338RUM now as my main rifle but always wish I’d built it as a 300RUM.
@@Australian.Hunting.Backcountry ohh yea. Nice man. I meant 7 RUM 👍😊
@@Australian.Hunting.Backcountry sambar rifle aye ?
@@hardantlerhunting9691 just for rabbits 🤣
I've got 8 Savage rifles, and they are all great. Amazing bang for the bucks.
Nice. Agree 👍
Agreed 👍
Nice rifle I’m working with Target Dynamics on a 7prc build at the moment same stock :)

That gun is a Rig! The DPT muzzle break looks like a game changer too!
Yea thanks man. I hope the DPT is good. Will test it soon.

@altitudehunting true. I could also run the 4 baffles first and the brake on the end. Testing will tell

Thanks, I don't think the arcade was out. Also I can use this bipod on other rifles moving in and out of the locker...👌👌
Cheers. I don't think the arca was around when I got this. 👌👍
Hey bro is the chassis drilled and tapped to add a decent bag rider on the butstock?
Also what’s the shortest suppressed barrel you could run? 17”?

Ah man, third person to say this and your so right. I had no idea it was so annoying. You are not wrong sir....oops
OMG please stop the music, also there is nothing wrong with the barrel nut system. I.M.O.
