    What kinda of recoil reduction did it achieve? Do you think your position will be given away when shooting at animals like when shooting without a suppressor

    • @hardantlerhunting9691
      @hardantlerhunting9691 2 дня назад

      @wellisnz I noticed it and believe it stopped muzzle jump a fair bit. In testing, DPT records an extra 15%, which I believe is correct. Adding 3DB of noise, so no issues there.

    Hi Stan,i was just wondering if you would help me out with a question that i have please. Does the muzzle brake change the velocity? And about how much. I use a custom turret so will i need to order another one so i don't miss at 500yards etc. Any help / info would be appreciated I like your channel especially that you do alot of solo hunts and don't need to rely on anyone else just gets out there and does it.👍

    • @hardantlerhunting9691
      @hardantlerhunting9691 29 дней назад

      Hi, It depends on what you are chasing. If its custom hand loads and velocity, than you can do better than the 7mm PRC. I think the 7 LRM, 7mm Blaser Mag and the 28 Nosler in a long action 3.6 OAL is much better. Also dont look past the older 7RUM. The 7PRC capitalizes on one specific Powder Alliant Reloader 26 which handloaders like myself have been using for years now. The older cartridges using this power are also benefiting from the same increased velocities. My 284 Win custom rifle in a 20inch barrel is 50-75 FPS behind the factory PRC. The PRC is marketed at the off the shelf hunter still using factory ammo in a 3.4 OAL rifle not a custom rifle builder. I hope this helps and Ive attached a video I made which talks about the 7PRC. ruclips.net/video/9rlKgU2_II8/видео.html If you going custom build on a long action, if you want a short action build a 7SAUM. For myself I like low recoil so stick with the 284 Winchester or 280AI in a long action.

Everything short of 800m went down near instantly, but the furthest walked off a ways before he went down (the shot was good - broadside vitals - but passed through). I won’t take a shot now if it is beyond 800, but to be fair - that’s usually an unreasonable distance anyway. 300 Norma Mag at 3180 fps.

What i mean by struggle is if the projectile placement isnt perfect it results in a delayed kill. You will find the same issue will come out long with the eldx even worse. In .224" i mostly used 55gr eldm for whitetail deer or 73gr for whitetail deer and black bear. Hoping to get my hands on some 77gr tmk or might dabble with 80gr eldm. The 75gr bthp match performs very similar to the 73gr eldm. In .264" i used the 140 and 147gr eldm for deer, bear, bison, and whatever. I have no issue using them for any land mammal in north america. In .308" ive used 208gr and 225gr eldm. I find them to be a bit much for everything I'm killing. Ive loaded 168gr eldm for friends in 308win and 30-06 for whitetail deer, black bear, and moose, and they all seem pretty happy about performance.

    Personally I use the eldx with great success but i only shoot out to 500.From what i have heard and read the eldm is probably more accurate however the eldx works for me.

      The X is probably a better bullet for Bush stalking and close range. The M just expands faster and better at lower velocities but the down side to that is it blows up in the animal when above 2600fps. Good stuff. 👍

      @hardantlerhunting9691 the x is good at longer ranges, at close like bush stalking it blows to pieces like ballistic tips.Their are better bullets for bush stalking.

      @nakisteelo4761 interesting. I guess the SST or barnes is better in the bush. But no one like the BC on those projectiles haha.

      @@hardantlerhunting9691 Probably too fast,going 2700 out the muzzle. Anything with a bit of lead on the end is better at close.

    I shot a 140 Amax at 560 yard through my 260 Rem at a 2litre water bottle. The bullet was shredded. So I have no issues with using them on anything from fox’s to deer. I think if the bullet has retained sufficient speed it will do the job. Good video. 👍

    Love your work Stan. Not that you'd need convincing, but if ya haven't already listened to these podcasts, yourself and like-minded others might want to listen to 'The Hunt Backcountry Podcast' episodes #469 and #470. They'll support what you say here👍

    Good commentary man. I run the 162 eld over the eldx (rem mag) as I found out passed 500m the eldx a bit hard where as the softer eldm will still open up even on lung shots

    have found to be a devastating hunting bullet.as you said dont drive them into anything to fast and they are a savage killer for ranges past 200.147 in the prc around 2900 is a good combo.

      @@hardantlerhunting9691 Another great video from this channel and thank you for sharing your adventure. As a 70-year-old and one who has been shooting since a kid. I only came to centrefire hunting in the last five years as most of my hunting was with muzzle loading shotguns, but twenty years ago, I bought my first ML rifle and once I could hit what I was aiming at, I started hunting. Check out ruclips.net/video/-JaVfMHt33U/видео.html Now looking to see/shoot my first Tahr and Chamois, as a retiree, no helicopters for me, I try to drive in as far as I can, then take these old legs as far as they will go. Planning a trip into central Canterbury once the kids are back in school and a get a weather break for a couple of days. I have my private land permission and the DOC block looks promising. Looking forward to more of your Sth Island adventures.
