  • Free copper wire is still everywhere in old TV's, microwaves, computers , on power circuit boards, electric motors and many other electrical appliances.
Free copper doesn't come any free'er if you want copper for casting ingots etc, this is how I get it and there's plenty still around if you want free copper too.
Scrapping tools, safety gear, furnaces, ingot moulds etc that I use or recommend.. www.amazon.com...

Unlike many people on here, or the entire net to be honest, you are providing quality information and knowledge. I almost never comment but wanted to take a moment to say that you should be proud of the service you provide and to not pay any attention to the negativity so many propagate.
The mantra of those posting should be " In the time it took to leave that negative comment you could have found something you do LIKE." Keep on being you and thank you.

And then theirs people like us, we realize you have to put a little elbow grease into separating metals from things you get free, by going and getting it. Scraping is a way to make money if you aren’t afraid of working, it’s also relaxing for me, along with fun to see how things work or are put together.

Hey man I'd like to add that this method can be totally free. I can't tell you how many valuable items I find in my normal driving. It's a drive I was going to make anyway and you can literally strike gold this way. Quick example, and I never expect this to happen again. I see a generator at the curb 2 blocks from home. I pull up and take a look, and I see the home owner coming my way dragging another generator. I ask, "uhh you throwing these out?" He says that he is and then I ask why. They both need new carburetors, which he has both brand new in the box. He says he doesn't have time to mess with them.
I don't live in a rich neighborhood. The guy was elderly and I actually intend to throw something his way after I sell them. Watching your videos really helped me to pay attention to what's on the side of the road.
Bottom line. Don't feed the trolls. This stuff is as free as it gets and it's actually a community service to save these metals from the landfills. Copper is becoming less and less economical to mine(it's very hard to find it in high concentration and so you need exotic or toxic extraction methods) and saving it from being buried under garbage mountain is beneficial for future generations.
Just last week I pulled 4 CRT TVs from one house. One of them was a 36" Sony trinitron lol a good find but a real back breaker to lift. Good thing I am a bit of an ogre myself. I think it weighed more than I do.

Hey man i enjoy your videos. You actually inspired me to scrap a TV the other day. It had a huge copper yolk. Unfortunately most everything else was either stainless or aluminum, which was disappointing, even the de gaussing cable was copper coated aluminum (major bummer) but life goes on. Just wanted to say hey and let you know i enjoy your videos. Have a great day

Yeah sometimes aluminium degaussing cables but not often, PC monitors are the best for copper

Over here in the US we have to drop them off at a recycling center. Last week I tried to drop 2 tvs I mined for scrap. The guy told me he will take it this time but not any more. He said something about gas being released when the cones removed.
So now I break them down small and put them in bags then in dumpsters. Its ridiculous im helping clean the environment but i can't get rid of the rest of the TV without having to resort to this

You could also walk to the store to get the free hotdog. Barefeet of course, otherwise your shoes wear down. Which costs you money. #TeamFreecopper

All scrappers have different ways of doing things for a variety of reasons. I really don't like the comments where people tell you what you are doing "wrong" just because they don't do it that way. Really annoying. Do what you do and forget the comment bullies, they serve no purpose except to make themselves feel like big shots.

    Hey Ben,
As I mentioned previously, your videos are great! I too made a little fun of your pronunciation of copper, but it was just in a little goofy fun meaning no harm. Pay no attention to the bozos who are negative.
I've no doubt that you've got a good many who like your videos.
Keep doing what you're great at!

So sorry about the abuse you have been receiving Ben. Have known about your channel for a while through word of mouth but have never seen one of your videos. You are simply providing people with information as to how they can acquire copper FOR FREE. Thank you so much for the videos.
