The whole thing you said atthe beginning about putting a lot of time and dedication kind of scares away some people that just want to play the game casually (especially those new to it). It is true for someone who wants to becomr an advanced player or highly intermediate when it comes to a fighting game. But for casuals they either wanna do it at their pace of learning or learn when they have time to
There's nothing stopping casual players from just playing and not having to really become good players. They just shouldn't be surprised (or start calling people names) when they get stomped by people who actually put in the time and dedication to improve.
Those people can fuck off then, this game has catered to casuals enough by making several mechanics easier and introducing 4 complete bs and uninteresting characters that a 5 year old can play
Another thing is that it's hard for beginners who don't know fighting game fundamentals & all of Tekken 7's mechanics when the game doesn't tell you (it expects you to already have experience). Soul Calibur seems to do a better job of teaching beginners how to play and even has a glossary of fundamentals in Soul Calibur 3 (stuff from the basics up to advanced).

Basuka93 your comments on rank are so true. I'm stuck on vanguard but regularly defeat vanquishers and higher ranks in player match people in rank are so desperate.
My problem is I just can't deal with aggressive button pushers to save my life. I know through experience when certain moves are plus on block and I shouldn't press a button then someone just starts happily poking away with random mids and highs and then jumps right back into a plus on block move. I'm stuck in a promotion demotion loop in green ranks and it pisses me off whenever i get demoted from fighter all the way back to brawler for millionth damn time because I'm trying to outplay someone who can mash 3 buttons after a juggle for decent damage meanwhile I have to practice dashing into high execution technical combos as Jin or the mishima family so that it doesn't whiff. Now I see why they call it green rank hell
TeryonTheHuman A lot of green ranks are really flowchart. They also usually use unsafe moves and don't punish properly. The number one thing is to pay attention to what moves are cheesing you out, try not to get pissed, then just go lab it later. Every green rank law is a perfect example. They love junkyard string (low parryable on reaction), ff3 (Launch punishable), f3+4 i believe it is? (High at the end), dragon tail (launch punishable on reaction), and mash shit until they think you'll press a button, then d23 (launch punishable). The most important thing in greens is to punish properly and be patient. I never press buttons when starting a round against greens because they love to open with yolo crushing moves also. That means with Jin, if you block a Snake Edge, you better be punishing with crouch cancel 3+4 or delayed hopkick, not panicking with a ws4. A lot of green rank players with either panic and lose control since you know how to punish, or more often, they'll keep doing the same unsafe shit giving you a free win.
IriquoisPliskin556 stuff like dragon tail snake edge and dragonov's sweeo really isn't seeable and reactible unless you've been playing tekken for years. Which means I have to rely on when I THINK they might do it. I think low launchers in general are too fast to see to the average player which is why characters with them are so popular. Compare that to someone like Kazuya who has to rely on a high launcher or 3 mid counter launchers each of which are punishable on block and its obvious why Kazuyas are a rare sight in ranked. Even Jin's low launcher has to come out of a crouch dash and gives him a baby combo compared to a bryan who can take off a 4th to a half of your life bar off a random snake edge you need above average reflex to see. Stuff like that is why there was a point where when i first bought this game when it came out I dropped it after a month and went to other fighting games. I came back eventually but imagine alot of new people get tired of getting juggled of a low and don't comeback especially when they could be playing something like injustice and not having to worry about it. Tekken is a great game but I dont think it's a completely balanced game at all. IMO low launcher that lead to full juggles should work how I hear bryans snake edge edge used to where it has to be a clean hit to launch. That way they could keep the ridiculous speed and damage potential but would be better balanced against just throwing the shit out there because of a guessing game
TeryonTheHuman Unless you're on a 3 bar or less there is no excuse to not react to snake edges unless you're just new to the matchup. Go to practice and set a snake edge up with 4 other moves at random; you'll see it's not that hard to react. You say it's too hard for YOU to react. You say the game isn't balanced. But if you're not even at the level to be able to block the most gimmicky stuff and punish correctly who are you to say that? The game isn't perfect but it's much more balanced than a lot of other fighters because every fighter pretty much works the same way. There are no archetypes really. And every single move is beatable in one way or another. Also you can't go with the mindset of it being stupid that some characters have easier execution than others. I started with Mishimas too and if you don't get out of that mindset it will hinder your growth. It's frustrating to have to punish a -15 move with an electric when a drag or law player can just df2. It's frustrating to have to be able to move well and electric consistently to just play Kaz at a decent level when other people can just pick Eddy and cheese you out. I get it. Especially when you're new. It sucks. But you chose the character. It's your responsibility to be able to use him well. You can't be mad at people using cheesy characters. It's your responsibility to learn how to deal with those characters. It doesn't matter how cool your wavedash is or electric combos are if you lose to a guy just doing orbital and snake edge with Bryan. You're more technically sound than him for sure, but you still lost. That's all that matters.
Thanks TMM. I'm currently struggling in green ranks (not to mention the lack of players in my region on PS4 at that level...) so will keep pushing. - FFwRevelations
lordofbankai77 oh I don't have a problem with it, was just explaining to this guy what scrub Asukas do. Hwoarang doesn't have any knees or elbows unfortunately. I usually just sidestep 2 to low poke and then they usually panic and press buttons and I counter hit stun
Hey TMM i come from playing Dead or Alive 5 and Tekken7 is my first Tekken. I find this game really fun and everything you is absolutely true. It all depends on how fast you learn and memorizes this game
TMM youre description of reaction playstyle is what i would call turtling also its good to see youve changed your mind about all characters not being lab characters. just about everyone would say its muscle memory but id say its a visual cue before its muscle memory learn what a move looks like then react. the key thing is you have to learn how to punish correctly with your character, learn how your character can launch punish and what punishes leave you plus frames is vital. but the best advice would be to practice before you play ranked to warm up and if you feel yourself getting tilted go make a sandwich and coffee then come back and reflect on what you did and what your opponent did.
1. Tip is pretty neat. I usually play 2d fighters and since I played sf I thought akuma is good. After a while I discovered yoshi and after yoshi I swapped to lili and now I'm pretty happy playing the game even though I am pretty bad lmao
The most important thing about witch character you should main is, you dont chose a character because he has special kit or he is flashy.. You play what you are good with.. If you are good Paul player you are gonna be Paul player for ever and not akuma because he has special kit.
Just made it to yellow ranks and I’m seeing a lot of reactive play style players and I see a huge difference now. Once they see all your tricks they see right through them. Trying to adapt biggest problems seems to be character knowledge on punishable moves.
I just made it to yellow as well and got beat Up today by people who could quickly adapt to my tricks that got through the Green Ranks. The biggest issue im having rn is my defense is crap and my character knowledge is really bad so I get pressured easily, get nervous to apply pressure and going for punishers
You have to have fun with your character as well. I always was searching for challenges in every game, so I thought I could master Ling Xiaoyu or Master Raven when I just jumped into the game for the first time. But these characters are very hard and they gave me a lot of trouble and frustration, so I started to play Kazumi, then Asuka and now I play Lili. I know that a lot of characters are stronger than Lili, but I like her so much, she's quite simple and she helps me to master fundamentals - this procces is much more enjoyable when you play simple character.
You should also try characters even if you wouldn't normally choose them based on their design or something. You might find them more enjoyable than you thought.
Ive been playing tekken myself since tekken 6 and i know how fustrating it is to learn tekken as there are so many things to know which many new players dont know. For my experience: 1. Practise backdash( movement is very important to make apponent whiff an attack 2. Learn how to punish moves. Block punnishement, whiff punishement is crucial. 3. After learning fundamentals, your character comes 2nd. Learn what type of character he is, what his main moves, pokes and mixups. You also wanna take a look at what moves are safe and unsafe on block. 4. Max combo and juggle damage is assential too as you need to drain your opponent's health quickly cuz opponent is most vulnerable in the air and cant defend. These are the espects from my point of view. Hope this help some one who is strugguling with a game. Cheers😉
Double Glazing You forgot to add something. Getting to know other characters moves, if you know the enemy’s move then you can do things like low parry, side step etc. Playing against a character you know nothing about is hard and can be frustrating for new players. Tbh I’m saying all of this but I still get hit by snake edge and other cheap lows lmao. My brain freezes when I see a low
Currently undertaking the task of being a veteran mortal kombat player switching to Tekken. I been watching Tekken Hype videos and wanna get really good with Yoshimitsu 🔥🔥👌
Being salty is the best way to experience Tekken or any fighting game overall. Getting salty means that you actually give a fuck about the game. Who is gonna play ranked, loose and say to himself: "oh ok I lost, too bad", then go into training mode for 5 hours straight and improve upon what cost him the match: no one (or you better have sentimental issues).
Getting salty is completely normal for games like tekken. Often that motivates you to get better. Just practice a lot and learn from every loss (or win) and keep playing
I'm trying my hardest to get down Lars and Leo but it's hard to keep up with the other characters as well I tend to forget and go on instinct and hope that I win it's sucks when i for get a character moves and then I choked up and lose lol I get nervous when I fighting a higher rank cuz then I'm not shore on what to do right or what's safe to throughout but I study and wach carefully and keep playing watching your videos helps alote
What i do to get good First: movements Second: learning how to dodge Third: practicing all the moves that the character im using Fourt: Learning how to combo Now i try doing it I think it will work for everyone Just a guess
I just recently hit Vanguard with Miguel and i can honestly say I'm satisfied and content with my rank considering just a month or two ago i was trapped in low green rank hell going between Brawler and Grandmaster with Claudio constantly but i just kept learning and improving my fundamentals and now i just blew straight through green rank like a hurricane lol should i aim for Warrior rank? Because i like the way Vanguard looks lol
That sounds cancerous bots won't help they're designed to be dumb and override you're shit I always got told playing a bot you're pretty much playing yourself
Barely. And if you can't reach Tekken God Prime in Treasure Battle, you're definitely not ready for Ranked against human players yet. I'm serious! The AI at Tekken God Prime is at best as good as real people in the early light-blue ranks.
Nan when I first played this game I thought I was good for hitting a 7 hit combo but now after playing several matches of player vs player I feel like I got belittled
Quick question: If a player does a move or string I don't know the inputs to, and I want to lab it, how do I find it? Do I just have to run through the entire movelist?
18 wins, 200 losses, thats where im at. I play tekken for 4 days, first 2 with pads, now i play with stick for like a 1 day, and i will keep going. Its pretty tough, my execution is worse than stick, and movement sucks. It feels weird, but i feel like i will enjoy it more and achieve a higher level with stick than with dpad, especially after seeing the moves u do (korean cancels). Im gonna practice my execution in free mode, and lose games online. And also once im used ill work on my movement. But execution goes first right now. Im using the razer panthera evo but will probably swap to something cheaper because of finances
Ok I Wana know this. How many minus frames does something need to be launch punishable on block and how many minus frames on block for a 1 quick jab punish?
Heyy can somebody tell me if Devil Jin's D/F 1+2 Is good? I seem to abuse it a lot and not get punished. But I don't see Him or Other people using that move
The problem is that i like to play with many characters like Jin, Hwoarang, Josie, Kazuya, Devil Jin, Lee, Brian and i thinks it's one of my main defaults 'cause I train with this character, play ranked, lose, win, win, lose, lose, lose and then I swap to antoher character thinking i'll do better (but most of the times no) Most of the times I play with a friend who is Destroyer (He main Hwoarang) and he keep telling me that i'm not that bad and he don't see why i'm still in Blue Ranks The second reason is like a guy said in the comment, when I go to ranked it's like I forget most of my combos and I lose to dumb things (like spam) and one things that pisses me of is that I know that I can punish some moves but I don't do it and sometimes I know that the guy will do this move and I don't block it, punish it, low parry or parry I keep watching matches from pro, watch live streams or watching some tutorial to learn few things but it doesn't seem to work I do love to play this game (really) but I'm upset to myself for losing in ranked for dumb things ^^' (Btw sorry if I made any mistakes, English is not my first language ^^')
My only problem is that i dont know which move i have to do when i want to counter. I can dodge almost everything. I failed so much in a vs match til i knew how to beat the sh*t out of my oponnent. In the first time i got smashed and i didnt even touch the person. Later i drawed my uno reverse card and made him quit.

Now I see why they call it green rank hell
stuck with you bro
TeryonTheHuman Here you are going to know what crouch jab can do
But be aware of hopkick or low parries
Thanks for this Awesome tutorial video if you can say that. Helped me a lot
Please keep it up Adrian .. You are the "soul" of the Tekken community ❤️
TMM: Find a character that really suits you
Me: Still looking for jun in the tekken 7 roster xD
play asuka then
@@gqprince2 I prefer jun
@@gqprince2 lol it aint the same Jun is bae
@@manps210 same style more moves
Thanks TMM. I'm currently struggling in green ranks (not to mention the lack of players in my region on PS4 at that level...) so will keep pushing.
- FFwRevelations
So I have to sacrifice my life to get good. And to forget about every other game other than tekken.
Well no, but actually yes.
welp, that's my sanity completely drained. also, easy way to grasp it: set AI to easy mode and turn on basic combos
I love how floechart players (cough* scrub laws/kings/asukas cough*) will run in terror the moment you figure out their cheese.
Noumu What is Asuka cheese? I haven’t played against many so I don’t know
Spicy Boi same string and then immediate parry straight after
lordofbankai77 oh I don't have a problem with it, was just explaining to this guy what scrub Asukas do. Hwoarang doesn't have any knees or elbows unfortunately. I usually just sidestep 2 to low poke and then they usually panic and press buttons and I counter hit stun
Most Lees are flow charty as well in yellow ranks, they're only so high because of unfamiliarity of most players
What do flowchart players mean?
keep playing keep labing never give up
I know this is 3 years old but man I just started doing a reaction playstyle and it work
It's true. In TTT2 could never get out of green ranks but now in tekken 7 i'm rocking orange ranks.
Hey TMM i come from playing Dead or Alive 5 and Tekken7 is my first Tekken. I find this game really fun and everything you is absolutely true. It all depends on how fast you learn and memorizes this game
Man.. The Jin CD1 thumbnail never gets old
Really great video, gonna share that in our FGC group:p
I finally learned that this fighting game actually uses high block
If you are good Paul player you are gonna be Paul player for ever and not akuma because he has special kit.
a bit late but yea i agree with this. I play a lotta steve and i can't really play any other charecter even if my life depended on it
Just made it to yellow ranks and I’m seeing a lot of reactive play style players and I see a huge difference now. Once they see all your tricks they see right through them. Trying to adapt biggest problems seems to be character knowledge on punishable moves.
I just made it to yellow as well and got beat
Up today by people who could quickly adapt to my tricks that got through the Green Ranks. The biggest issue im having rn is my defense is crap and my character knowledge is really bad so I get pressured easily, get nervous to apply pressure and going for punishers
It's like the same advice for real life Martial Arts
Honhoa Ong tekken is a real life like martial arts
A well done explanation good video main man
What a beast , respect my bro ❤️
You might find them more enjoyable than you thought.
don't use auto-pilot don't ss and do a very unsafe move *does ss2*
LilFury tekken what character's ss2 ?
mshklh2099 devil jin v:
it worked buy just found it funny
was probably trying to to sidestep electric
@@ElectricNikkiGames yeah but in certain situations on big whiffs it's an excellent move and gives an 80+ damage combo.
Ive been playing tekken myself since tekken 6 and i know how fustrating it is to learn tekken as there are so many things to know which many new players dont know. For my experience:
1. Practise backdash( movement is very important to make apponent whiff an attack
A good little review.
"Oh my god that bryan did this string and I have no idea what to do against that"
Bryan has strings? 😂
yeah, many of them actually
Dumb comment
Currently undertaking the task of being a veteran mortal kombat player switching to Tekken. I been watching Tekken Hype videos and wanna get really good with Yoshimitsu 🔥🔥👌
Best advices ever from TMM
DAD Tekken is the greatest fighting game ever but opponents make you hate it when they ain't move a muscle and wait for a WHIFF !
Answer : Practice
i like how you said play ranked
but that a problem, ranked is the reason why i get so FUCKING salty
MonaCrom Tekken Exactly. Plus, the PS4 still has lag issues online, can never finidh my juggles because the timing is completely off
Being salty is the best way to experience Tekken or any fighting game overall.
Pick a Capo or a bear and button mash.
Sounds like a green rank issue.
Definitely sounds like a green rank issue lmfao!
Great info thanks!
Learn match ups and what to safely abuse against opponent weaknesses. At higher ranks, mindgames.
"Lesser players." I like that one. I learnt from this, thanks to tmm. How do I get past first yellow ranks
You gotta get good.
It's annoying getting beaten so many times so thanks but also hope these tips help
I'm a vanquisher Devil Jin and this is basically my 1st tekken, don't take as much time as you think
Nice combo at 5:03
I'm trying my hardest to get down Lars and Leo but it's hard to keep up with the other characters as well I tend to forget and go on instinct and hope that I win it's sucks when i for get a character moves and then I choked up and lose lol I get nervous when I fighting a higher rank cuz then I'm not shore on what to do right or what's safe to throughout but I study and wach carefully and keep playing watching your videos helps alote
What i do to get good
First: movements
Second: learning how to dodge
Third: practicing all the moves that the character im using
Fourt: Learning how to combo
Now i try doing it
I think it will work for everyone
Just a guess
I just recently hit Vanguard with Miguel and i can honestly say I'm satisfied and content with my rank considering just a month or two ago i was trapped in low green rank hell going between Brawler and Grandmaster with Claudio constantly but i just kept learning and improving my fundamentals and now i just blew straight through green rank like a hurricane lol should i aim for Warrior rank? Because i like the way Vanguard looks lol
I’m trying every character in treasure battle as long as I can till i feel that I can’t go any further will that help?
That sounds cancerous bots won't help they're designed to be dumb and override you're shit I always got told playing a bot you're pretty much playing yourself
Barely. And if you can't reach Tekken God Prime in Treasure Battle, you're definitely not ready for Ranked against human players yet. I'm serious! The AI at Tekken God Prime is at best as good as real people in the early light-blue ranks.
hey tmm nice vid but where are the streams bro?
What i usually do is i go in practice and learn all of the combos for the character im using so i have more to work with
You're doing it wrong if that's the first thing you practice.
The moment when I react but then fail to do a staple throw D;
This video is awesome
Nan when I first played this game I thought I was good for hitting a 7 hit combo but now after playing several matches of player vs player I feel like I got belittled
2:49 wtf is this jack doing. Could have been an easy win.
5:01 again lol
The Trust Give it away like there's no tomorrow.
The first one could be muscle memory from tag 2, the second one he probably thought tmm was going to hold B so db1 would hit
The only answer to this question is that he is a genius and not anybody cant do it !! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
and don't let tier lists scare you off
my main is eliza
This game is super hard for me, but God damn it's really fucking Satisfying, but God damn is this game super hard for me.
5:01 That was a fucking dirty punish
Quick question: If a player does a move or string I don't know the inputs to, and I want to lab it, how do I find it? Do I just have to run through the entire movelist?
Yakushii yeah pretty much, you can try to guess what’s the first inputs and then look in the move list
Speciality in Badass Comebacks!
Abdullah Dakhaikh what rank r u?
Jasvinder Sokhi I am always swinging between Expert and Brawler!!.. I am bad at the game!.. Lol
Abdullah Dakhaikh brawler is a good rank.. 👍 which character?
Jasvinder Sokhi my main is Steve.. But I also play Paul.. Few times played Heihatchi..
THEMAINMANSWE can you please make a tutorial on King's 12 ff1
sorry to say this may be not related, 17 second tmm video by mio honda step is hilarious lol
STARCRAFT MUSIC SO GOOD
Yay tmm my kaz reached mighty ruler im so happy 😀
I have SO much trouble with my sidesteps, I'm a Yoshi main...see the problem? What can I do to work on it other than random sidestepping in matches?
Ok I Wana know this. How many minus frames does something need to be launch punishable on block and how many minus frames on block for a 1 quick jab punish?
it varies depending on the opponent and if you put him in a ducking state or not, but generally around -15 frames.
pite9 thanks alot man
I’m stuck at yellow ranks with Jin and Kazuya :(
My Testicles same man. Same
Hold on bro...is your username "My testicles" 2 years back. Awesome lol.
Heyy can somebody tell me if Devil Jin's D/F 1+2 Is good? I seem to abuse it a lot and not get punished. But I don't see Him or Other people using that move
I play on a PS4 controller. is it detrimental to map the bumpers and triggers to the grab moves or any combination of 2+ punch/kick combinations?
Do that shit
He right u know
I like other play styles but I don’t like the inputs to perform well with them
So I’ll stick to Bryan it’s just hard when I’m an open book
KNOWLEDGE!
The problem is that i like to play with many characters like Jin, Hwoarang, Josie, Kazuya, Devil Jin, Lee, Brian and i thinks it's one of my main defaults 'cause I train with this character, play ranked, lose, win, win, lose, lose, lose and then I swap to antoher character thinking i'll do better (but most of the times no)
Most of the times I play with a friend who is Destroyer (He main Hwoarang) and he keep telling me that i'm not that bad and he don't see why i'm still in Blue Ranks
The second reason is like a guy said in the comment, when I go to ranked it's like I forget most of my combos and I lose to dumb things (like spam) and one things that pisses me of is that I know that I can punish some moves but I don't do it and sometimes I know that the guy will do this move and I don't block it, punish it, low parry or parry
I keep watching matches from pro, watch live streams or watching some tutorial to learn few things but it doesn't seem to work
I do love to play this game (really) but I'm upset to myself for losing in ranked for dumb things ^^'
(Btw sorry if I made any mistakes, English is not my first language ^^')
"TEKKEN NOOB MAKES A TUTORIAL COMPLAINING ABOUT THE GAME!!!1111!!!" Incoming.
CiaoAlexandersek he has ten genbus dude.He is good with mishimas as well. Can do 4-5 ewgfs in a combo and online where there is lag.
You're Probably A Green Rank :D
This is a reference from the drama... Where speedkicks said tmm is a scrub I think
you people didn't get it
MonaCrom Tekken sorry if I didnt get it at all... New to tekken... Just got started because of that daigo parry video
My main is devil jin, is that a problem?
Play who you want
how do you get good in predicting/reading your opponent? I'm at the yellow ranks.
5:03 YOOO LETS GO
What’s the back ground song?
Mainman Help me get gudd
How to get good as a Mishima, be ambidextrous.
woah what controller is that
It's pretty annoying to play against someone who keeps switching characters. I'm trying to learn a damn match up over here...
