    I saw Scott Manleys 5G challenge video, and thought if I used a small probe core instead of a manned capsule,
    a 10G launch would not be too much of a problem right?
    Wrong, very wrong! This tested my rocket building, piloting and my computer to the absolute limit!
    PS, watch the frame rate counter in the upper left corner ;)

      Hey, Turbo.
      How did you get such a smooth video given that the frame rate was down to just 1 fps for a large part of the launch?
      Is this a speed up of some kind?
      Also, how did you controll this thing?
      And what kind of system do you have if I may ask?

    • @raymondgabriel5724
      @raymondgabriel5724 6 лет назад +197

      It quite feasible that alien civilization exists that is trapped on their planet permanently due to the gravitational pull. Scott manly did a video about this, with the calculations. We are very lucky on Earth.

    • @GeorgeMonet
      @GeorgeMonet 6 лет назад +23

      If they had such a high gravity then would they have even evolved sapience?

    • @RealCheesyBread
      @RealCheesyBread 6 лет назад +38

      @Orchidahus Yeah but we can still launch a rocket and get things into orbit, take things to the moon, to mars, out of our solar system, etc.
      I'm talking about planets which have strong enough gravity that the amount of fuel required to have enough joules of energy (in perfect conditions) to lift the rest of the fuel and the payload to space would be so great that it just wouldn't be possible. Maybe possible to lift off, but not possible to actually make it to space. Or rather it would be possible, but would require an absurd amount of rocket power to the point that they just wouldn't think to attempt it. Maybe if they somehow managed to develop warp drives then they could pull it off, but rockets would be a nogo.

    • @AverageAlien
      @AverageAlien 6 лет назад +6

      No, because on their planet they would evolve to be giants, with bone structures possibly hundreds of times stronger than our own

      I don’t wanna be that one person, but...
      If it was 10G kerbin with intelligent life forms, the materials would have never known regular Gee. That means that 10G would be the norm and things made woould already be made and constructed to be resistant to 10Gee. That means a 10Gee life form would have about the same troubles as the 1Gee kerbals

      So the materials are tough, they still have to compensate for the amount of thrust required compared to a 1g planet

    • @dawid12301d
      @dawid12301d 6 лет назад +47

      obi_dank_kenobi Yeah lifeforms would evolve in 10G environment but you can't escape the laws of physics. Every rocket fuel has it's limits, to get even the tiniest probe into orbit you'd need rocket like 10-20 times heavier than a Saturn V. Their space program would be insanely expensive.

      Zoom about with 13g of Acceleration wich would cause your Rocket to start burning up realy fast in most Atmospheres in the Kerbol System. Then again you could reach Excape velocity in a matter of Seconds up to a Minute. (Kerbin Escape Velocity, For Kerbol i recomend using a few Nuclear Engines and an Asterioid with IRTGs (Thats the correct short for it yes? Internal Radiation Thermal Generator ...) Drills, Radiators, Fuel processor and Fuel Tanks (Maybe even Kerbals for Independant Control).

    It took me 92 Kerbin years to get my crew of 3 off Eve, and my final rocket and strategy was not too different than this. Had to shed everything that was unnecessary and have multiple stages from outside in. The final stage also had to skim the atmosphere to reach orbit before running out of fuel. 10 x G is pretty full-on though, so good effort!!

    The Apoapis or "Highest Point in Orbit" isnt much of a clue in KSP if your Orbit is safe. You'll have to look at the Periapsis as its the "Lowest Point in Orbit", relative to the object the Ship is Orbiting around. If the Periapsis is below the Kerbin Atmosphere Threshold (I think 70km ... correct me if i am wrong) your orbit is doomed ... expecialy with solar panels as the slightest ammount of Drag will destory them in a awesome manner.
    In case of Planets, Planetoids or Moons without an Atmosphere the best indication for if the Orbit is save if the lowest Point of Orbit is higher than the Highest Surface of the Planet. I Recomend atleast 20 Meters + Length of the ship. (I know technicaly you need only the length to the center of mass but better safe than sorry right?)
    Just a slight info from someone who plays the game often and for very long times too ... then again you do so too. (I think)

      @Viizzai-os 6 лет назад +9

    Maybe monofuel program next? Launching space station parts on stable orbit with as small and cheap SSTOs as possible, that only use liquidfuel, made only of stock parts. I'd like to see the launch and return with commentary as well as building such crafts. Mine best seem to be around 70t to deliver only 5-6t to a 120km circular orbit, no better, but I'm certain I'm doing something wrong and it's possible to have above 10% efficiency.

    Ok, that is what we would need to launch in a 10g earth. But what about 11g?
