I have a comb that looks like that and will check it out. I usually notice if my hair is feeling like it is being ripped out. Then, I would throw the comb away. I only use it to detangle before I shampoo my hair. My hair is similar to yours. 6-22-24 I checked my comb. The teeth are smooth.

For the shower, I use a comb made out of horn because I don't want to ruin my wooden comb. 10/10 recommend!
