The Grease Pencil queen is back!!! 2.5 years later you're STILL pushing Grease Pencil further than anyone I've seen since! Can't wait to rewatch this video 700 times attempting to make textured brushes half as good as yours.
I just bought these brushes, and I have to admit, the new style is exactly the result I have been trying to get. Every once in a while the art Gods smile upon us. Thank you Sophie!
Ohh that's amazing to hear! I'm glad you're enjoying them :D
I dig this channel so much, so approachable and wholesome. I'm not into GreasePencil at all (regrettably), but these vids are just enjoyable af :)
That means a lot! To be fair I watch a lot of creators talk about mediums I am not interested in, sometimes it's just fun to see someone share what they're passionate about!
I found Sophie's comparison between here current process and her earlier one useful. She explains which aspects of her method have changed and why. I see that evaluation process as being applicable to me in scrutinising my own. She also articulates the differences between her old drawing and her new. This critique is also useful to me in showing how I can model my own evaluation of my art. Beyond methodology she also talks about examining her emotions regarding the differences and explained how she governed them. Thank you, Sophie.
I really appreciate this comment! I've been thinking of making a video going over a series of my older art and trying to critique them, so this motivates me to know people might find it helpful :)
Wow, your brushes have gotten so realistic, i’m definitely gonna pick them up! You said you weren’t sure if you liked the new painting more than the old ones but I for one have a strong preference for this version. It’s a real “less is more” situation, and a lot of that comes from just becoming a more experienced and confident artist. Always super impressive.
I really appreciate that, that's been on my mind even more with more recent pieces (which I'll share soon!), so your comment affirming that means a lot :) And I hope you enjoy them, thank you!
Glad to see this. By the way, your bookshelf is a perfect replica of my partners. I can peg the King books without seeing the titles. Great selection. She and I I love his support of artists in his books. We should petition him to use something of yours. That would be awesome. Thank you for these so very helpful videos.
You're a grease pencil legend!! Thanks for all you've done and shared
Aw thanks, I'm glad it's been helpful!
Sophie, these look great. Are these brushes also useable in Blender for texture painting a 3D model, or only for GP strokes?
Your so underrated you deserve more keep it up 😊
Bought the brushes - can't wait to try them out!
Thanks, I hope you enjoy them!
Super cool! And thanks for the process explanation about how to load and use these, especially before I loaded all of them into blender at once 😅😵
Also I'm glad you're still making kombucha!
Haha yes that might overwhelm your file! 😅 glad it helps!
If you remember Sophie popping kombucha in her early intros then I know you are subscribed
She hasn't aged a bit lol❤ amazing vid!
i boughtt your blender texture brushes, and did everything what you show in your texture video.. The problem i have is, that after i open an new blender 2d animation file is, that i just can draw the outlines when im using the texture brushes. In the Material Properties all textures are missing. do you know how i can fix the problem?
may i know your computer and drawing tablet specs ...may i get the computer specs where grease pencil draw smoothly
Just bought your brush and test them in 4.0. I followed the instruction, but I have hard time getting the texture to follow along when I draw a long stroke. Is there any other settings I should turn on?
This may have been my bad for not explaining this better, but because these textures are single images, they will end at a certain point, making them not good brushes for long strokes. There is a setting at the bottom of the material properties called "clip image". If you uncheck this, the image will repeat, but it will show up as separate images within the stroke.
I have another brush pack made from repeating textures, which would be better suited for drawing long strokes: sophiejantak.gumroad.com/l/fgxrh
If the brush pack you bought doesn't suit your needs, please email me at sophiejantak@gmail.com and I'll be happy to send you this other brush pack for free, as a thank you for your support :)
@@SophieJantak I understand these textures are all single images. I tried using the same brush settings in your video but not getting the same result like you. Is there any other specific settings you use for the scene? I did played with "clip image" option, but it doesn't seems to let you control the distance between images, or does it and I am just looking at the wrong place?
@@evil3dsponge580 I think the only way to change the distance between the images would be to modify the texture images themselves, like reducing the border around the images would make the images tile closer together.
It's hard for me to know exactly how the textures are looking for you that makes them different from my video, would you mind emailing me screenshots so I can try to understand? sophiejantak@gmail.com
The only setting I could think of would be if the scale of your grease pencil object was very big or very small, this would affect the textures, and you might want to try scaling up the texture images in the material properties to match (or you might try applying the scale of your grease pencil object)
@@SophieJantak Thanks, let me try to play with those brushes a bit longer first. the other thing that happened to me a few times when texture images is positioned a bit far from the strokes I draw. I have to constantly reposition for each stroke which I don't see you do that often in the demo. that's why I was wondering if there is other setting in blender I am not aware of . I will try to send you an example file you can take a look.
@@evil3dsponge580 Hmm that might be the way the stroke is getting drawn, the geometry at the start of the stroke affects how the texture shows up. Is the texture image showing up consistently if you make a few strokes going in the same direction?
:/
