I have so much to learn. I been using older versions of Blender forever. So much so I thought I must have the wrong video because this looks like a drawing/painting program, but I cannot wait to learn all of this stuff. Thank you for taking time to make this video. I finally got Blender 3.3 a few days ago.
Bender is such a positive force, people expressing themselves for free in every part of the world, even in countries where you cannot afford a 3d software. Subscribed ❤
Great tutorial. Update for Blender 3.2, at the time stamp 42:42, you can no longer "copy layer to object." Instead you can click on one object, and then the other, and select "Copy layer to selected" from the same drop down arrow.
Its always interesting to stumble on channels like this early on that are clearly going to be successful. Grease pencil specialists like you pushing boundaries and spreading knowledge of this cutting edge stuff are sorely needed! Definitely make a patreon, you deserve it, the sincere effort you are putting into your tutorials is wonderful
I'm gonna start binge-watching your videos because I want to make illustrations that can be easily animated, like those in Vocaloid music videos and stuff lol. Thanks for all the free knowledge!
Aw thanks! After running from that stroke placement for months (because it's weird) now that I've gotten the hang of it it's my favourite! Also I saw you recently posted a tutorial too! Geometry nodes, that's something I've never tried before, I'll have to check it out :) I've gotten a few requests for grease pencil/geometry nodes tutorials so I've been sending them to yours, since I know nooothing about that, ahah
Update for Blender 4.0 min 42: go to outliner, select your new grease pencil, shift select you moss ball, click sphere_fills and the drop down button, copy layer to selected, double check if your layer is actually in moss ball.
I've used Blender for 10 years, and I still love to see many times how people use it and discover it an rediscover it and I feel here with you discovering it, thank you for this, it's so nice. I will still take several times to do it slowly and peacefully
Wow thank you! Also you aren't kidding, after I posted this yesterday I basically just napped all afternoon, haha. It took more out of me than I expected! Of course I'm already planning a sequel, but definitely going to approach it in a more balanced (less frantic) way! But yeah that means a lot :) I mentioned your videos in my pinned comment because I've learned so much great stuff from your videos, so thank you
@@SophieJantak So true :D I was also so tired after finishing the 80 tips video. One great tip is when making tutorials is to divide the whole video into segments, also easy to timestamp them, then make the hardest one first and the one you're most excited last. That way it's mostly smooth sailing :D Can't wait for the sequel! Keep up the good work :)
Thank you ! As english is not my mother tongue, I really do love the way you enunciate distinctly. The content is quite pedagogical as well. Thank you again !
I'm so glad it's helpful and clear! I also transcribe all my videos so if english subtitles can help you those are available as well. Thank you for your comment :)
I'm really enjoying your channel. You are clearly an educator. Your flow and process of explaining the parts and processes of these projects is just fantastic.
Oh thank you so much! A LOT of planning went into this video (how I ordered the sections and how stuff was broken down) so I'm glad to hear it paid off :)
These grease pencil tutorials you produce are excellent. You are definitely tapping into a much sought after type of Blender content, the current YT blender scene is dominated by 3D, but 2D will keep growing, especially now that Blender has such a powerful 2D toolset available. Keep on making your creative lessons, they are grabbing everyone's attention.
Just started following along with this tutorial, and not even halfway through, I find myself lost in my work. Thank you so much for making such a generous and pragmatic introduction to the program.
You're so dedicated and well organized! Amazing Sophie, congratulations for this huge tutorial and for sharing your knowledge with the world! Greetings from Argentina!
You seem like the sweetest person in existence, not to mention humor and great vocabulary which allows you to describe your tutorials so well, so it reaches everybody. I haven’t looked into using blender yet, but I am hoping to very soon and am starting with your tutorial. I’m excited ❤️❤️
Thank you so much. Appreciated! I'm only a few minutes in, but already understand grease pencil usage far better than from other tutorials. Fantastic job.
What a beautifully positive persona! Subscribed immediately and looking forward to seeing more of your content. Not only helpful but also entertaining. Don‘t stop!
Oh wow. This is incredible!!! I'm figuring out how to implement both 3d and 2d art to animate a short video and this is exactly what I'm looking for!!!
This is by far the best Grease Pencil Tutorial I ve seen. I Wish Blender would Just be easier to use, like operations you would use activated by default and not Hidden in several menus.
Thank you for the time and care you put into this tutorial. You have an excellent ability to anticipate where your viewers will need additional explanation.
Aw well that's really reassuring to hear! I guess it helps that I was a beginner not too long ago myself :) But also I get some good feedback from viewers and try to incorporate it into future tutorials!
Thank you was a lot and mean A LOT of information but your explanations were great to understand it and helped me a lot, I really learned many things in its video and not just about grease pencil, your way to show visually were things are in the UI is super helpful, your explanations about navigation setting and easy tricks for tools and general blender features are also very helpful, I believe this youtube channel is very underrated because we can really learn a lot of thins plus your voice and way to explain things are very pleasant, again thank you so much for sharing with us your knowledge and inspiration
thanks for sharing your knowledge. I've used blender for some time now, but never used greasepencil because it wasn't as developed. Seeing your videos now makes me want to try it out someday 😁😁
What a wonderful video! I've just gone through all of the "Intro" videos on Blender and hadn't done anything in the software yet, but I was able to follow along with this with ease. You've got a real talent for teaching, I feel so lucky I found you!
I've just found about your tutorials and finished this video which I've found very helpful. You are as constructive as you are charming and humorous. Thank you for your hard work and guidance
what a beautiful tutorial! I already wanted to finish to start with my drawings, thank you very much for these well explained tutorials. I will certainly see the others. Thanks!
Oh my Glob! Thank you soooo much! You're seriously a life saver. This is exactly what I've been missing for my sculpting pipeline! Once again, THANK YOU!!!
this is exactly what i needed and so well explained!!! thank you so much for this resource i love your videos and your such a sweet person i wish i found your channel earlier haha.
I'm so thankful for you! I'm learning a lot with your tutorials! My draw style it's not like yours (although I love your style) but you explain the tools with so clearly!! Thank youuu soo mutch
I love this and I'll definitely be watching and trying more of your tutorials. My only other comment is that I highly recommend outputting renders as PNGs, especially if you have lower-end hardware. The worst thing is to get part way through rendering a video and to have blender crash so you have to restart. It's easy enough to use the video editor to make a video from the image sequence. You can even delete the PNGs after if you're really stuck for computer memory. Thanks again and I look forward to future videos 😁😁
That's definitely a good tip, thank you! I stopped doing that because it usually takes me under 10 minutes for a video render, but I should keep in mind my computer is probably better than a lot of users. I'll mention that in my next tutorial :)
@@SophieJantak I'm through the video now, and it's very well explaiend! I'm considering doing my bachelor project with Greas Pencil now. I started off with a 2D animation but this method is so much apealing right now!
I brew my own kombucha as well, and one time I had some bottles second-fermenting with some blackberries from the yard in it. Well, I went to open one, and it EXPLODED and I couldn't get the lid back on... Looked like a crime scene! Still finding evidence of that explosion to this day.
I couldn’t have made this tutorial without these videos! Shoutout to these awesome creators.

I've watched this and given up 15 times. Today is the day I watch it to completion AND make a 3D Bonsai.

same. 😂🤕
Very smart to show the finished product at the beginning of the video. Most tutorial makers don't do that. THANKS!
