Riding the STUNNING Douro Valley railway line in Portugal! (Comboios de Portugal Review) [VOICEOVER]

  • Hello, and welcome back to another train trip report on my channel.
    *This is also my first voiceover video, so I would really appreciate your thoughts and feedback on the new format. Please do leave a comment.*
    In this video I will be travelling on-board a CP 1400 + Schindler from Porto-Campanhã to Pocinho.
    This journey takes place on the stunning MiraDouro line, through the strikingly picturesque Douro Valley. The motive power for this trip is even an English Electric built diesel locomotive, which seems right at home on Portuguese tracks.
    It's an incredible experience, and one I recommend to anyone in the area, whether they are interested in railways or not.
    Enjoy the video. :)

    I love the voiceover!! I’m a new subscriber and going through many of your previous videos! You have a clear and authoritative voice that makes it easy for native and also non native English speakers to understand.

    It's sad to see 4 metre gauge lines closed. But what it's more sad (and surprising at the same time) is that they were closed down relatively at recent dates.

    • @wavesnbikes
      @wavesnbikes Год назад

      Can they become tourist lines?

    • @altaragonte24
      @altaragonte24 Год назад +1

      @@wavesnbikes I think they could, but if the landscape is not "astonishing" no one would invest in this line. On the other hand, here in Mediterranean Countries the love for trains is not as high as other countries such as England or Germany, so yeah maybe they would restore 1 line or so, but probably they wouldn't do anything at all

    I like your voice, but could do with subtitles as well (I'm a bit deaf!). Most scenic route I've ever been on - hmm, difficult. Maybe the Highland Line to Aviemore and Inverness. Maybe the line in Northern Ireland between Ballymena and Derry (it goes right along the sea). Although the mid-Sussex line is hard to beat, especially in spring and summer..... Maybe - oh, so many stunning railway journeys, I can't choose!

    Notice that the Douro Line starts in Ermesinde at it's kilometre 0 besides of Infraestruturas considered to count form Campanhã due to technical questions like to know how much a help train can go to a any point of Douro or Minho line to help the train with problems. Also that 7:25 am train is my favourite too but I always board on it in Penafiel at 8:00 am

    5:25 “I don’t understand these powerless soap dispensers. They don’t seem to work.” I offer three suggestions: 1) Like the rolling stock you noted, these dispensers are very old so was state-of-the-art back in the day. 2) No chance to steal a bar of soap, and 3) Probably more hygienic/less disgusting than a used bar of soap. How many do you think rinse off a soap bar after using it? Cheers. 👍🏻

    Classic traction, proper full-drop windows, and some awesome scenery - all the things that used to make rail travel a pleasure. (If you overlook the Cult of the Mask, which seems to have extended even to the remotest corners of the network.) Who cares if the "new trains are faster" when you have seats like bags of cement, double glazed and tinted windows that seal you off from the outside world, noisy air conditioning, and of course endless nannying auto-announcements.
