Great video and exactly what we were looking for. Did you walk to all the Quintas or just the first one? How long did that take? Are you able to take a taxi to more than one and how did you get back to the train? We are debating on a tour? (Which I don’t really want to do because of the restrictions and We’d like to visit Portuguese owned Quintas if possible and want to pick our own meal. I really like that before lunch store you visited and plan on adding that in as well.

@@aliyiapatterson-brooks5646Hello, I'm glad my video provided you with useful info. The first two Quintas (Bomfin and Carvalhas) are very close to each other and right in the heart of Pinhao, no need for a taxi there. Same thing with the small place for a quick lunch, it is a 3 minute walk to Quinta do Bomfim. Quinta das Carvalhas is on the other side of the river, but it only takes you 5 minutes to cross the bridge for Quinta do Bomfim. I wouldn't take a tour, there is really no need for it. The last Quinta (Quinta do Jalotto) is on the top of the hill behind Pinhao. From the train station take a cab, they have a fix rate of 10 Euros to drive you to the top (the point where I flew the drone towards the end of the video). From there, it is a short 4 minute walk to the Quinta do Jalotto. This Quinta is small, but the views from the top make it a wonderful spot to sit down and do some wine tasting. Hope this helps :)

@@aliyiapatterson-brooks5646 I stayed for two nights in an Arbnb in Pinhao. Everything is a short walking distance from every interesting point. Please watch the video again to check the train number. You cannot go wrong, it's a 2-and-a-half-hour trip from Porto (Campanha train Station) and the train runs three or four times a day. Take the early train at 7:20 am (please check video for details) that goes almost empty at that time. If you need any other info, please do not hesitate to ask me. P.S. Quinta do Bomfim just opened an amazing restaurant behind their vineyards , from what I heard it is totally worth a visit for lunch or dinner (I did not eat there because I had to take my train back to Porto). The restaurant is called Casa dos Ecos

Excellent video, very useful and practical information. What boat trip did you get from Pinhão? Was it the two hour return trip up to Tua and back? We are going there next week. I’ll try to decide whether to just get the train to Pinho, maybe visit a port house and do the 2 hour boat trip to Tua and back OR to instead get off the train at Régua, have a look around there and then do the slightly longer one-way trip on the boat from Regis to Pinhao. We would only have one hour in Pinhao then before getting the train back to Porto. I heard that the scenery is nicer upstream from Pinhao? Thanks

The wineries will charge you according to the tasting you chose, depends on the quality of the port wines. Tastings go between $15 and $60 p/person. I did the $15 tour and tasting at Quinta das Carvalhas and it was super. Then I paid $30 for the one in Qunita do Bomfim and it was great as well. Don't miss Quinta das Carvalhas, it is amazing. As for the boat tour, yes everything is very close in Pinhao, 5 minutes away, but for the boat tour it is best to buy online, try to book on the first boats leaving at 10 a.m. and the one hour tour is enough.
