The beautful cheery attitude and gorgeous tone in this song is made all the more amazing when you listen to the first song in their set, the change is ridiculous. Tennessee Waltz-Masterpiece (2013 International Quartet Champion)
Brett and Rob, congratulations on the 2nd Gold. This is Bill Young , a voice from the past. All of you are the best and it is an honor to be your "bud". Great sound! Brett, tell them some of the stories about El Paso in 1988. HAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! We did make it to San Antonio, great trip . See Ya.....
Well, I come from Alabama With my banjo on my knee And I'm bound for Louisiana My own true love for to see It did rain all night the day I left The weather was bone dry The sun was so hot I froze myself Susanne, don't you go on and cry I said, oh, Susannah Now, don't you cry for me As I come from Alabama With this banjo on my knee Well, I had myself a dream the other night When everything was still I dreamed that I saw my girl Susanne She was coming around the hill Now, the buckwheat cake was in her mouth A tear was in her eye I said, that I come from Dixie land Susanne, don't you break down and cry I said, oh, Susannah Now, don't you cry for me 'Cause I come from Alabama With my banjo on my knee
Aritosthenes No sing off needed. Go to an AIC show, next time you are at convention. There is no need, or desire to decide which year's international gold medal champions are better than others.
+Talyn McFarlane The reason they do it is because they are on stage singing to thousands of people in the audience. They need to exaggerate to be seen. Actors on the stage do much the same thing. It's only with video that is zoomed close-up that you can be subtle.
Not even close. lol. There are a handful of basses that stand out over the rest for their sound, resonation and blend. This bass is one of those basses.
***** looks like hes way more louder than the others... And the bass is loud too so u need to switch positions. Otherwise the Baritone+Bass would stand in the middle
+John Simmons It should be obvious... the stage is only so big. ; ) No, the bass has a massive voice and the quartet could not balance with him in the usual bass position right next to the lead so they moved the baritone inside. But the baritone part often needs to be more muted (depends on the chord) and so perhaps to help with his balance they moved him back a step.
There's no excuse not to post every single video from the contest on RUclips. I'M NEVER EVER GOING TO BUY THE DVD!!!. Let me click some ads on here so you can at least make some money off me.
+Will Oliveira Masterpiece have their own CD, it's pretty damn fantastic too. Here's a link to their website if you're interested: www.masterpiecequartet.com/recordings

Try listening to Basses Unlimited
Everyone is talking about bass/tenor/lead... This is the best baritone I’ve ever heard. No one stood a chance in 2013.
The bass is pulling this train.
WOW... This is why I love barbershop. Those overtones pop out and I get goosebumps all over.
As a Susanna.....I LOVED LOVED LOVED this!!! Absolutely stunning in every way!!!

Tennessee Waltz-Masterpiece (2013 International Quartet Champion)
The bass is amazing. That lead though, incredible.
The best blend I've ever heard from a quartet, what an amazing group
that bass and baritone are a dream duo
As close to perfection as I've ever heard from a bshop quartet. Superb.
This group is awesome in so many ways! What an astonishing rendition!

Well, I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee
And I'm bound for Louisiana
My own true love for to see
It did rain all night the day I left
The weather was bone dry
The sun was so hot I froze myself
Susanne, don't you go on and cry
I said, oh, Susannah
Now, don't you cry for me
As I come from Alabama
With this banjo on my knee
Well, I had myself a dream the other night
When everything was still
I dreamed that I saw my girl Susanne
She was coming around the hill
Now, the buckwheat cake was in her mouth
A tear was in her eye
I said, that I come from Dixie land
Susanne, don't you break down and cry
I said, oh, Susannah
Now, don't you cry for me
'Cause I come from Alabama
With my banjo on my knee
Absolutely amazing! They are so talented. :)
im a baritone. this guy is epic
the bass sounds so good oh my
Excellent!!! Especially the tenor hang at the end. Great job Rob M (et al.)!
Very nice and wonderful performers quartet.
I've wondered why the baritone always stands outside bass. I REALLY liked the mix here. Well done, gents.
100k views might be from me. This is pure Gold.
All I can say is: WOW
2:28 - 2:37 best part
Congrats! Just terrific!
I absolutely love it!
wonderful!
0:51 this is everything
I'm sure it's been said before but, that was amazing.
Amazing
0:01 Wow, Will Sasso is pretty good.
lmao
Bravo!
Impressionante ótimo trabalho
2:30, 'nough said
60 Fps. How fancy
At 0:28, the lead was like, "Aw yeah! Wait, did I do that? Ya I did!" XD
Bass from night life you can't go wrong!
2:33 chord thrilled me.
Perfect
2:28-2:36 so good.
Something tells me those guys are good.
Is it just me or does the lead bear a resemblance to Jim Carrey?
AllllllrrrrrrrIGHTY then!
Just continuously press 6. Trust me, just do it.
BUAHAUHUAHUAHAU!
You should try 5, 2 and 1 in combination with 6 it just keeps getting better and better :D
***** you win!
:D cool dude,
also check 9 (press each second), and see them repeating a dance step.. :'D, and pressing continuously makes a good sound effect.
after 3:30 it's all perfection!!!!
Very very good and the best I've seen for a while, but still can't beat Old School in 2011. Sorry :)
Aritosthenes No sing off needed. Go to an AIC show, next time you are at convention. There is no need, or desire to decide which year's international gold medal champions are better than others.
Aritosthenes I wish I was in America, then I'd be right there! :D
:D Sounds good, sign me up. One Crazy Welsh woman to be admitted because she wants to watch Barbershop Quartet :D
Yep, Alan Gordon sang baritone in Gotcha!
My mouth hurts just watching their exaggerated expressions.
that's barbershop for you
Hamppzah It's not just barbershop it's most singing. Because your face muscles are very important when it comes to the actual sound quality.
Ivan Koruza
Exactly! It's just common to exaggerate it in barbershop - and I don't mind it, as long as it doesn't affect the singing negatively :)
+Talyn McFarlane The reason they do it is because they are on stage singing to thousands of people in the audience. They need to exaggerate to be seen. Actors on the stage do much the same thing. It's only with video that is zoomed close-up that you can be subtle.
is that hank schrader
That guy is a BASS!
NICE!!!
2nd tenor has movie star looks tbh
Is that Hank Schrader on the far left?
HAHAHA I DIED
Anyone know if any of them are Sinfonians? ALL HAIL!

+Vince Gao his name. is hank.
SPECIAL agent Schrader, please
Dang Hank Schrader has a great voice!
HOLY PIPES
How is it that nearly ever barbershop bass sounds the same?
+MasterMerc13 You're causing me to blush. You think I sound like Bret?! Whoa... I need to get me a quartet and sign up for next year's competition!
+MasterMerc13 You are right, they all sound the same. It's called the sound of awesome.
Not even close. lol. There are a handful of basses that stand out over the rest for their sound, resonation and blend. This bass is one of those basses.
Incrível.
That HAS to be Will Sasso on the second to the left. If not OMG TWINS!!!
Dat last tenor note.
Wow
Great performance!
About sheet music? Someone can help me to find?
Very nice (apart from the facial stuff). But why does the baritone stand slightly behind the other guys?
***** looks like hes way more louder than the others... And the bass is loud too so u need to switch positions. Otherwise the Baritone+Bass would stand in the middle
+John Simmons balanced sound perhaps, baritone is meant to fill and im sure if it was swapped the bass will be too strong hahaha
+Bass1923 Oh I see thanks. And I thought he was just shy!
The second on the left is originally from Gotcha, right?
There's no excuse not to post every single video from the contest on RUclips. I'M NEVER EVER GOING TO BUY THE DVD!!!. Let me click some ads on here so you can at least make some money off me.
How come the bass is all the way on the left?
Congratulations you guys. Brett , don't forget El Paso in 1988.....hahaha
The lead needs to play Johnny Fontaine in a Godfather remake
Does anybody know who did this arrangement?
Dat "froze" chord.
and you also get a nice haircut... how awesome is that?
is that will sasso second to the left?
Can anyone tell me if there cd's with complete works of these groups?
Willame Oliveira They sell them on their website, just google it.
+Will Oliveira Masterpiece have their own CD, it's pretty damn fantastic too. Here's a link to their website if you're interested: www.masterpiecequartet.com/recordings
Dem suits
Walter, is that your brother in law on the far left?
In the tenor note.
That 2:32 tho
Anyone else think the bass kinda looks like Dean Norris?
The chord at 0:30.
Ting
The bari looks like Will Sasso.
Younger one looks like Jim Carrey.
Hank Schrader bass ahahha XD
Uh, 1:41 is there a third at all in "cry"?! Lol
Oh i come from the x men mansion with specials glasses so i can see, and I’m going to shoot my lasers for my wife dark phenix to be, oh gene gray don’t you cry for me!
Excellent singing (sound) but their stage presence and interpretation of the song are both lacking. :'(
P.S. Their lead sings very well and their voices do blend nicely. :)
ImMarksman anyone? Lmfao
