    This is a set of tests to compare and contrast the sound of autotune vs tc helicon's hardtune pitch correction.
    Sorry my singing is not very good. Regardless both things make you sounds a little more interesting.

    So good to hear someone with limited singing ability testing these pedals, kudos to you. Totally sick of hearing pitch perfect singers demo auto correct, what is the point. Have you ever tried the Mic Mechanic 2, just wondering how it would compare to the VoiceLive Play.

    • @newcastlemusicstudios

      I have not tried that pedal yet. I think it would be quite limited. But it is a good deal for the price n has the basic three effects whih is all most people wants.

      @JonValtandtheEvilRobots Год назад

      Yeah, no. He’s singing in a different key, and no autotune thing can fix that. It’ll correct to the wrong notes, which you can clearly hear.

    I really didn't want to write this, because I love the fact that this dude put this video together for us, but I saw a bunch of comments asking about the auto correct.
    It can't sing the song melody and correct it if it's far off.
    It'll just keep it in the key it hears or what your playing through it.
    The TC helicon is an excellent pedal.
    Thanks again for making the video.
    Keep singing dude !!!
    The voice is like any instrument, more practice and you get better and better.
    Honestly...
    Nice voice, just have to fix the notes.
    😁👍

      Agreed. It only moves the note to the closest note in range. You can only set the Key signature in the harmonies not in general.

    What I'd like to see is a program that could fix your pitch. I think you were singing flat on purpose and I didn't hear that corrected. Can Voice Live do that?

    • @newcastlemusicstudios
      @newcastlemusicstudios  3 года назад +3

      Yah it is lower/flatter on purpose..I think the song is 1 octave higher... Unfortunately I learned it long ago in standard tuning with No Capo vs 5th feet Capo I think... Anyway the Voicelive only moves what you are singing to the closest note... It assumes you were try to sing say : D but you sang between C# and D. It does not change the actual octave as there is no real way for any of these auto tune style programed to know what octave any given song should be sung in. With that being said, you can manually edit and shift your octaves up or down in the PC AutoTune you can shift your octaves also up or down in the TC Helicon... But it stays there so not quite what you are looking for.

    Hi dude! I have a question for you about the Tc Helicon! Have you tried “country tune” and “natural tune”? Which of those do you thing sounds more natural? Thank you brother!

    • @newcastlemusicstudios
      @newcastlemusicstudios  2 года назад +1

      Natural tune and i think chromatic sound the least processed. "Country Gliss" still sounds pretty good. It is the "Pop" that sounds obviously autotuned to the max.

    • @newcastlemusicstudios
      @newcastlemusicstudios  2 года назад

      Autotune definitely, the Tc Helicon will jump to the closest note, so if you are a few steps off, it wont help. I dont think the Tc helicon is vert accurate. You can set the key to auto or choose but still often sounds off... especially if you suck at singing like I do. If you are a decent singer but just a little off itll sound much better.

    • @newcastlemusicstudios
      @newcastlemusicstudios  Год назад

      It's a bit strange really.
      Unlike other pedals there is no specific MENU EFFECT just for Key Choice.
      Instead the Pith Correction is devoid of any way to select a Key.
      However under the Harmony Selection you can Choose your Key on the right Side.
      Which I am assuming also effecta the pitch correction. Otherwise it just goes to the Note you are songing closest too.
      Whih honestly is the BIGGEST FAIL of what is otherwise My Favorite Vocal Pedal.
      There is a C1 which I made a quick sloppy video about.
      Chaining them together would be ideal. Obviously thats another $125 Cost.

    If I have am using a different effect such as Gorgeous Hall (7) or others on the Voiceplay, doesn't that autotune as well? THANKS

    • @newcastlemusicstudios
      @newcastlemusicstudios  3 года назад

      Well it depends. If you choose a Preset, it will only play whatever is on that preset. (7) Gorgeous Hall has the Reverb turned on, so it would not have the autotune effect. However, you can push the 3rd button down on the Left called "EFFECTS" then use the right Arrow button to go over to "Hardtune," then push down MIX Button then use the black turn knob in the middle to Turn ON the Hardtune Effect. You can then also go back to the Black turn knob and choose which specific type of autotune you want,, i.e. POP, Country Gliss, Rboto, natural, chromatic. when you have it set, Push down Back button to return to main preset screen.
      CLICK "store" to Save the added effect in Gorgeous Hall or it will erase the modification once you unplug the unit. and if u dont want it saved, dont click store and it will revert to the original preset once unplugged.

      @@newcastlemusicstudios THANK YOU for this exact description! For an average singer trying to improve or sound less "pitchy", which hardtune style would you recommend. Pop, Correct Natural, what would help without sounding robotic? THANKS AGAIN!

    • @newcastlemusicstudios
      @newcastlemusicstudios  3 года назад +1

      @@vinnykeys8146 well if you want to sound more natural you can use chromatic or natural . You can also go into the setup area and adjust the amount from say 10% effect to 100% to experiment more. You could try country gliss at 50%.. it's only obvious when u sing off key by a lot. You can also use the functions in the Hardtune on the top right to adjust how many decibels are added or taken away from the effect to fine tune the sound you are looking for. For me, it depends on each song ... Some songs I can sing close to the notes and some songs I am way off so I adjust for each differently.

  • @bingecringe6454
    @bingecringe6454 3 года назад +1

    so basically in both cases it is off key. not sure what to do with that.

    • @newcastlemusicstudios
      @newcastlemusicstudios  3 года назад +1

      Neither are never fully on key. It depends how good you are at singing. I am not much of a singer. If in fact you are very close to hitting every note but just a little off... the tuning effect will have any easier time adjusting the note. If your notes are all over the place it will possibly move to the closest note on the Scale rather than the desire note.
