Also, about ammo: lead is heavier than steel bearings but tungsten is nearly twice as heavy as lead. Pricey of course but for those rare self defense situations it might be good to have a few of these hard hitters around.
Newbie here looking into slingshots,we don't have any stores that sells them, recently there was a change in our law,and they aren't illegal anymore. It looks like you shoot and use the brand simple shot. Greetings from a Belgian newbie.
Thanks, man,, I really enjoy your content. I usually am in the No Way a Slihgshot is for Self Defense camp. 2 videos in 2 days that list the only way that the slingshot is capable of Self Protetion. Self Protection is see 'it' coming via awareness and getting to a tactical advantage/position as opposed to getting in 'the drop'. But really there are no good good option once in 'the drop'. Excellent for ambush and move. The best tactical slingshot it a natty with a longer handle (say 6" or 7") with a sharpened butt. Why it is not a good Self defense tool. 1. A high level of skill is needed to place a head shot under duress. 2. 2 hand operation. 3. Limited range. 4. 1 shot and move. Now why it is a good ambush choice from concealment with 2 or more immediate exits. 1. It is very conceal-able/easy to carry. 2. It is quiet. (tubes are especially quiet) 3. Can use a variety of ammo in a pinch. Friends, learn the OODA loop with these ordered objective. 1. Run away. 2. Hide. 3. Fortify 4. All out attack.
I have a GZK Pulley Slingshot with built-in hand guard made for shooting darts safely. The only reason I can use it as a primary is due to the bands/or band itself. After each shot it resets to exactly the same spot making it easy to load literally without ever having to look at my slingshot. I shoot darts since it's easy to hold and load very quickly if I need to defend myself. Remember, PRACTICE EVENTUALLY MAKES PERFECT 🙂
Would you dare to not use a guard? I think I will stick with being safe. Cuz even if you missed once. It hits just as hard as being smashed by a hammer. If it is a dart. Omg..
I grew up with bows and slingshots, but I ain't really shot either one in years. Ordered myself a new slingshot yesterday though cause I want to get back into it. Plus, I live in a bigger city now, so carrying around a compound bow here doesn't look as normal as it did down in the foothills. Plenty of places I can practice with a slingshot though.
I like the pocketshot for this purpose, because it is so easy to load even thoug the accuracy is more difficult to obtain. The best is to use the "beige" color pocket and glue a magnet. In this case the impact is stronger and you can put several balls depending the size of them.
Glass marbles are a good ammo there hard heavy and cheap . I would not like to struck by one travling in excess of 150 fps or what ever your slingshot can produce .
I’m thinking of a fun event. Think of three gun, but without firearms; slingshot, recurve bow, and ax throwing. I could imagine having the event in a forested setting with changes in elevation, running, obstacles and of course, targets. Make the targets zombies and I think you’re onto something really really cool, I think the survivalist, prepper community would go bunker’s, I mean bonkers for that. Eventually, if in a post apocalyptic situation you run out of bullets and guns, even when suppressed, are loud. In such a world, eventually, the person who can shoot and/or throw mass down range quietly and accurately will win the day.
@@411Outdoors seriously, I think a founding principle would be to keep it simple, theory being that the more complex the equipment, the more likely it would break down over time, thus regulate the competition to simple slingshots, recurve bows, and either axes or knives, implements the competitors could conceivably make themselves. It also would keep the competition less expensive and thus accessible to more people. Someone wouldn’t be better than another competitor because of better equipment, but rather, because of their skill. It would be a far less expensive competition than three gun, thus far more accessible to a greater number of people, and it could show off the incredible capabilities of slingshots and arrows. Anyway. I’d be interested in such a thing. I think it would give someone an amazing tactical skill set for self protection, hunting, and survival that could take them farther into the wild than guns ever could.
Brother you beat me to it 🤣 thanks for the shout out my friend🙏🙏🙏. I been busy and I'm hoping to do a video this weekend. Fantastic shooting brother 👏 I do know a 1/2 steel to the Domb traveling over 200fps would take a person out for sure! Great video and domb is what I like to call the head🤣🤣 (Love it!!!) Thanks again for the shout out brother, it really means alot. 🙏 Oh and I'm with you, the torque is probably the most tactical looking slingshot due to its ability to carry wide and heavy latex comfortably.

Check it out if it's still up.
@@411Outdoors yeah theres a single clamp ring thing available on ebay, saw a few vids on frameless late last night, looks doable, i remember as a kid we used to stretch some thick 2mm x 1/2 by about 6 inch diameter inch rubber bands over our fingers to launch folded bits of card at eachother and never snapped a hand lol the idea of frame hits does sound rough though lmao

Morning buddy. That's one band type I've yet to shoot. I'm curious about their recovery, in other words how much untangling is required after a shot in order to load and fire a second. In my experience flat bands and single tubes are about the same, except it's easier to see and correct with flat bands. I suspect my fliers are caused by twisted tubes and not paying attention. Cheers 👍
Morning to you! You’ve got a great question there with regards to recovery. I know these have lasted a long time and they have so much power it’s unreal 😂
@@411Outdoors In theory they should be twist resistant. They are free to move and find their relaxed position and not held tightly at the fork end. I'm thinking about the ambush scenerio. A slingshot is quiet and that makes doming two meatheads possible. Example. Meathead one Yelps and goes down holding his head. Meathead two comes to investigate, whack! Additional movements, like untangling bands could give away your position.👍
@@411Outdoors Hmmm 🤔 I've used tabs with tubes so I could keep shooting Ott and to prevent wear against the fork tips. I don't have a fork with clips. I'm curious if they would bite tabs well enough to shoot safely. The Ocularus will let go in my experience, at least with thick leather tabs. Leather or a microfiber pouch cut in half will hold with wrap and tuck. Tabs are also useful if your available bands are a hair short, just cut a longer tab and maybe even a longer pouch to make up the difference.
@@forksandspoons7272 Yeah I would only use the flip clip for the flat bands but it feels really tight.
