Dragonfly Records ran from 1993 - 2003 and was relaunched in December 2019 with a new installment of the Order Odonata series.
Dragonfly Records, the trance arm of Butterfly Recordings, was a seminal label in the Electronic trance music lineage and arguably the first UK / European Goa Trance label.

This is, and will always be the peak psy/goa trance for me. I hope to come across a mix half as good as this one.
This reminds me of an episode in my youth when I went to Street dance records in Copenhagen to look for some releases from my favorite labels Harthouse and Rising High. The very cool guy in the counter handed my a Dragonfly records and said all swedes loves this :) I didnt dare to go against him (older than me, cooler AND danish) and bought it. Later when I swapped away my Goa records, i did keep Genetic - Trancemission.
Ah I remember Street Dance, great place :)
Also remember everybody I knew in Lund (where I lived at the time) raving about the Dragonfly CD compilation
Oh my god. Those tracks are still fresh. Psychedelic trance at its finest. I love all electronic underground music, but psychedelic/Goa, or just trance, has special place in my heart.
That moment when beat is so hypnotising, sound swirling around you, and that feel when you just starting flow with the music. When your consciousness touch the sky and break all the boundries of daily life

One of my all time favourite labels growing up. I hold the Paul Oakenfold Dragonfly mixes from that period very close to my heart. And his essential mixes from the same period (early/mid/late 90s - early 2000s)

Slinky Wizard's Wizard, such a transcendental and timeless piece. These records and similar labels like Blue Room and Flying Rhino had a style and spirit unmatched by any end of decade, even from the same artists, and it was a truly fantastic way to end the millennium. At the end, from the likes of Dragonfly, one had to find refuge in the likes of Ultimae for instance, because with Goa, the ambient field was probably the only one which managed to evolve or at least maintain the spirit, feel and quality, that we loved so much.
Mr Lecander has pulled the rabbit out of the hat, again! Thanks for feeding me this trip through my past.

A legendary sampling of a legendary label. :)
What a music, what a label..!! These artists back then were certainly pioneers of a new sound and a new music genre. They were indeed putting the psychedelic element into their music. This of course is still possible today if a producer chooses to do so, that is to use the better means currently available in order to incorporate psychedelia into his/her music. But new artists choose not to do so, because commercial stuff is a lot easier to make and specific labels allow the artists to produce music without having to think or be inspired in any meaningful sense of the word. Hence, psy-trance in 2021 is a joke and there is nothing original or psychedelic about it today, with some notable exceptions of course from people of the first generation, such as James Monro or Pleiadians who have been around for some time now, are still inspired artists and are not selling us crap.
To a large extent, I believe, it is a generational thing as well: the closer to the hippy movement an artist has been, the more he or she has been seriously influenced by ideas of freedom, equality and psychedelia and has inscribed these elements onto his/her music. Conversely, the more distanced one is from the period and the ideas of the counter-cultural movement (and the less acid he or she has taken) the more boring his/her music is likely to be. In other words, a-political individuals, fascists and people who do not support actively through their everyday relationships ideas of freedom, social equality and community will most probably make dull and emotionless music. Politics and music have always been interrelated and still are.
I ve been to goa when there were still many hippes///one of them slept down the beach, he was 60 years old (about)///he had no more passport since many years!!aah ahaa aaah.....I am happy to have been there when the real trance goa movement and cultures were still on the original way , freedom, exchanges, sex, hppines to discover others , and deeply through a spritual way!!!'a few years later start the commercial money business of all those specials places which were build through freedom beetween the locals population and the entiere '(called') ":the occidental people//// I was living by a familly, in Chapora, do you know that part? ....that village? ...well, so!! I found your script post interresting and finally so sadly true!!! money is the sadness and the evilbess of the human's world/// when we all can meet great hearted personns , I feel so Happy!!!but living in europe , I have big problems with the way french people are involved!!!for sur, I will go away my birth country to live peacefull ending life!!! Ты очень точно выразил, как идут музыкальные и общественные процессы. В 95-96 годах, в России, мы созерцали эту музыку. И ещё немного потом. А сейчас многие возвращаются к музыке 90х годов и больше вникают в ту её суть, вдохновляются ею заново.
