    I'm African, Salt and pepper aren't even the beginning. I need garlic, I need bay leaf, I need two types of pepper, I need lemon and sometimes orange (If is chicken or duck or turkey), I need others kind leaf i cant translate in Inglish.

      Girl, Im sure your version of seasoning is different from that of people of colour. First of all we tend to marinate all meat. We dont generally just take meat and cook it. We wash it, then marinate and It comes out throughly seasoned and juicy. And salt and pepper is not seasoning, that is the most basic step in cooking meat. I use at least five different seasonings for every meat I cook. I have lived in Switzerland. Ive been to so many European countries and the only people who know how to season food are the Greeks.

      @Ariel.the.Mermaid 5 лет назад +2

      Yesss yall! I was surprised that she only asked about salt and pepper. In the Caribbean, we clean and season the meat right after purchase (before even putting it in the freezer) with a blend of fresh herbs like thyme, chives, basil, shadon beni etc. When we're about to cook it, we then use an array of fresh and dry seasonings, sauces etc. (If your cabinent doesnt at least have the basic stuff like paprika, curry, 5 spice, geera, italian seasoning, ginger and good ole Maggie, expect your mom to send u to the grocery immediately🤣). Tbh we dont even need to add the salt most times🤣 but we still do

    “Sodium and salt are different”? Ummm... table salt is also known as SODIUM chloride. We can have sodium by itself, but we can’t have salt without sodium.

    Us Somalis don’t consider just salt and pepper as seasoning. That’s a basic necessity for a dish. The only way it’s seasoned is if you got that hawash (garlic, cilantro,cumin, bisbaas,) every dish is bursting with yummy seasonings

    My dad is African and super health conscious and once he threw out all the salt we had at home. It was such a struggle trying to sneak in salt into our food. Praise Jesus we can season our food now properly but he still eats with no seasoning 😥

    I am a white girl but I can cook. My dad taught me and I put a WHOLE bunch of seasoning. I cannot eat my husbands family food because its so bland. I tell my husband, "I'm sorey but I like my seasoning in my food!" And ever since we have been together he cannot eat food without seasoning.

    From looking at Oprah face, I knew that food was NOT tasty and Oprah
    Knows when food is delicious, so, she got 1m. for the most tasteless food
    Point blank period. I would have given them some good old green pea rice
    and baked chicken with veg and a good old glass of lemonade for just$15.00
    and a million that is food for a life time.lol

    “Some people” only know how to use salt and pepper and nothing else. I grew up with oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce. Now I added cumin, oregano, parsley, etc. and we can’t forget all the spicy seasonings 🤤
