Thanks for this video. I have a handful of these lights that I also want to install in my living room ceiling. My question is, what is the best method for finding the correct location since I'd be installing from above rather than below?

Awesome job! Will you be doing more videos like this soon?

Hello. I'm doing the same install as you (New Construction Halo Recessed Can in drywall ceiling with attic access). I know your video is a couple years old but thought I'd ask a question:
Once the rails are nailed to the joists and the can is positioned on the rail, the Halo cans have a tilted screw to allow you to lock the can in position on the rail (to keep it from sliding horizontally). Another way to lock the can to the rails is to crimp the tabs located on the frame. However, both of these methods require access from below the frame (which isn't possible when drywall is already installed). Any advice on how you locked the can to the rails on your install?
    Thanks!

David Hill you definitely have a number of options available to prevent the recessed can from moving on the sliders, but in reality the housing is not going to move anywhere if the lip of the can protrudes slightly downward into your circular cutout within your ceiling drywall.
However, if you would like to secure it, you can use a sheet metal screw through the slider and into the edge of the housing. I would recommend doing this on the side of the housing without the wiring.
      Thanks for watching!

There're air gaps I can (pardon the pun) see. How did you manage to seal and insulate the fixture?

jaisvikt the foam seal around the edge helps to prevent air leak where meets the underside of the ceiling Sheetrock. These are also IC rated for direct contact with insulation, so you will want to place insulation around the can for the best results.

Why didn't you use remodel cans?
