  • When it's really cold outside, we make oatmeal for our backyard chickens to help them stay warm! In this video, my wife walks through the process. Watch to see what our hens think of this hot treat!

Try feeding them oatmeal raw & uncooked (right out of the package). I've done it this way for over 40 years. It's so much easier and the chickens love it!

I add crushed up sterilised egg shells for their calcium intake.

What a beautiful coop !! I love your chickens they are so pretty
But just so you know When you cook anything in a microwave you kill all the goodness out of the food
It nucs the food chain of the food making it non nutrition
Best to just heat it up with a pot of hot water from the stove top.
To get the most nutrition from food.
I remember when People were using microwaves to heat up baby bottles which kills the nutrients in the formula /milk. Babies were getting sick because they weren't getting nutrients.
I'm sorry but a lot of people don't realize the risk of using a microwave oven and what it does to food.

Can you please tell me what you wrapped your coop in? I live in an extreme cold area and looking for ways to block the blowing winds and cold on winter days.

You would have a better video if you would loose the lame music....and cut your walking around...just get to the point.

bab8649 I appreciate the constructive feedback. Would you have just preferred to see a photo? That would meet your feedback criteria. Thanks for watching!
