Great reviews as always! However I do think this car looks absolutely stunning. The reason this looks "bland" is because the A4 is so damn popular so you see it everywhere. The small updates to the exterior makes it look a little more classy and a little more aggressive. I'd buy one.

I like this design, both interior and exterior. It makes the car look a lot smaller than it is. Also, they have buttons for everyday stuff instead of silly screens as in the model after that. Defo want want.
I have a new A4 Avant and I pretty much agree with Mat's evaluation. I've made a review of my own car, plus a video which shows almost all of the options, also showing what you get as standard without the options (which is often hard to tell), on my channel. I took the 2.0 litre TFSI petrol engine, which is a little thirstier than I expected as I'm only getting around 34mpg, but it's a very refined engine, and I don't have the issues with the auto gearbox that Mat reported. I've had it for more than three months (I got one of the first of the new models) and I'm very pleased with it.

@@amoddedblueteslap100d7 trust me it’s great but my dad had a fully optioned S Line model which he drove hard. At 56,500km there was an oil leak, coolant leak, Ctrl arm went bad and the water pump failed. Don’t drive em hard
@@amoddedblueteslap100d7 you could get an S Line 252hp version or maybe a non S line up to u. But one thing for certain get one with the Bang and Olufsen 19 Speaker 3D sound system. With that turned up all the way the car vibrates so much that you can’t even see out of the side mirrors. It’s a great stereo system

When reviewing the trunk please also indicate whether there's a spare or at least space for an optional unit. I believe the A4 does have one while the 3-series and C-class don't. If I'm correct it's impressive that the A4 has the same trunk capacity as the others while accommodating a spare.
Not sure if the CD thing was just a joke but coefficient of drag isn't measured literally in terms of "CDs". Cd is just a shortened way of saying coefficient of drag. Since it is a coefficient you can't say 0.23 of a CD anyway, it is just a Cd of 0.23.
I think BMWs are more similar on the outside throughout the years than the Audis are. In fact if a look a BMW from the front and can't see other parts of it, I can't really tell what model it is. Maybe Mercedes and VW are the best in updating their exterior design from the big german rivals. (just sharing)
Don't you think at 4.37, the way Mat changes his voice to what the car is thinking reminds you of what Jeremy Clarkson use to do back in the good old days of Top Gear!
I thoughthat too. It's subtle like that. A photo or video from a distance doesn't get you the sense of power and strength that the car has when you're staning up close to it. The S-Line body kits is the only way to buy this car.
I like that about he Audi. It’s always drug dealers and young douche drivers that buys BMW here where I am and it’s such a turn off to buy BMW’s because you just fall under that category driving them here that I went all out on Audis.
No its not my dad has an avant 18 inch alloys wheels sline model monsoon grey and it costs more than e class or bmw 5 series but my dad got it from his firm

relaxing to drive my axx, the design looks like the old one but the drive is far stiffer than any older A4 model I have owned. I've driven a standard TFSI for a week just to make sure I was going to do the right purchase but I gave up after 3 days. I am considering to get a Jag, it's more comfortable and more fun to drive and it is made in Birmingham
Thank God there is still an Audi 2018 with the Swivel Wheel. The dumbest thing audi did was to replace it in A8 and A7 with only big touch screens which make the driver take his eyes of the road more often to do simple things. I have the Audi A4 2017 and I like the Swivel way and the controls distribution so much.
Great review Matt as usual, really well built cars, but I am not impressed as they come with very few tthings you would expect as standard on a car of this price and audi really stiff you for the upgrades, seems to be the norm with a lot of manufacturers at the moment. I think they should give better specced cars for their asking price rather than relying on the badge.
I have owned the c class 2016 and 3 series 2014 now have the a4 2018 it’s a 190 tdi s line I have add it mapped to 232bhp extremely quick for a car in it’s class and perfect on fuel hitting 50+ mpg cheap tax and over all a very safe and reliable car best one out the 3 Germans imo

I dont agree with mat on a few things. getting a 1,4 petrol dont do it, just does not have enough pulling power has to work hard to get up to speed. also the a4 looks the best out of these four cars. thirdly the sport suspension is very decent. ye4s im sure adaptive dampening is better but its not a harsh ride at all with sport suspension. but you do here tyre noise as many other reviews have mentioned but nothing to do your head in. its a really comfotable car just got mine 3 weeks ago 2.0 40 tfsi a4 2018 full tech im loving it. the jaguar it to rounded. does not have that shaped modern look. has a nice grill thats it. the bmw looks bland but nice interior to rival the A4. Mat. best to get is obviously a 2.0 petrol. no ones buying diesel now. it years later bout this still applys now

Love your reviews! I just picked up the new a4 and at night it looks like Im in a private jet with the cool looking cockpit..Luxurious feel and great driving. The only thing they screwed up here in Canada is no google earth maps or audi connect. Bit of a disappointment

Mat is an ace reviewer and here he is reviewing an ace car. I would call its looks understated rather than bland, which is the German way of designing cars. They don't change much since they get the looks right first time, so a 10 year old Audi, VW indeed German car generally, still looks modern.

Im a USA 2013 Audi A3 TDI owner getting 50 mpg in Florida!!! Audi has been a head of its class but also caught diesel cheating.

190 has a bigger turbo and intercooler.
150 is perfect with manual
190 is perfect with S-Tronic
