Angels Calling is originally a song from Sabaton's 2nd album, Attero Dominatus, written by Joakim. This collab happened when Apocalyptica went on tour with Sabaton as their support band, so they re-recorded this song together and Joakim recorded 1 song with Apocalyptica (their song) - Live Or Die. Apocalyptica is an all- cello band from Finland. They started with metal (mostly Metallica) covers and later with their own songs, either instrumentals or with guest singers (like that one with Joakim). They just released another Metallica cover album, but this time featuring members of Metallica. Cover of the song One ft. James Hetfield and Rob Trujillo is simply brilliant

Great reaction!! This is my favourite collaboration!🤘 I'm one the lucky ones to have seen these 2 bands play this song together live on stage. Sabaton's Great Tour in Europe, 2020!🤘 Apocalyptica was one of the opening bands. I'm a huge fan of both of them since then 🤘

Ahhh sick! I've yet to see the band live, I have to be able to match their tour with any vacation time I can muster but IT HAS TO HAPPEN!

Glad you reacted to this fine song with the cellos. Joakim mentioned that concerts should be fun, and that's often why they are smiling or "cutting up" during concerts. Still, they don't often play Rise of Evil or We Burn at concerts.
    Via beatcrave :
    1. What inspired Sabaton to write the song “Angels Calling”?
"The band drew inspiration from the stories and experiences of soldiers who fought during World War I. They aimed to pay tribute to these brave individuals and shed light on the sacrifices they made for their countries."
Second: Via wikipedia: "Angels of Mons: The Angels of Mons is one of many stories of the reputed appearance of a variety of supernatural entities which protected the British Army from defeat by the invading forces of the German Empire at the beginning of World War I during the Battle of Mons in Belgium on 23 August 1914"
Third: Not sure if the next angel figures into the story, the Weeping Angel of Amiens Cathedral, built in the 13th century. "The Weeping Angel ( French L'Ange pleureur ) is one of the most famous sculptures in the Cathedral of Amiens . It adorns the tomb of Canon Guilain Lucas († 1628) and is the work of the sculptor Nicolas Blasset , who worked for the cathedral from 1630 to 1659. " It looks like a baby cupid or cherub, but the angel is crying. The statue was visited by WW1 soldiers on their way to the trenches, or on breaks from their trenches. They thought the angel was weeping for all the death and destruction of WW1. Soon, postcards with a photo of the weeping angel were sold, and the soldiers sent them to family and friends. Sometimes EBay has the real or replica postcards.

Ah that explains their smiling, I'm sure they were just having a great time, despite the rough topic. I hate wars and needless death so much, songs like these where lives and their stories get erased forever sometimes can be frustrating but these songs need to be sung!
P.s. thanks for looking into that bit of info! I appreciate that :D

Angels Calling is one of my favorite Sabaton tracks, top 10 at least, and the versions with Apocalyptica is at another level.

When they sing about no-mans land and trenches, I immediately think about WW1.
I'd say this is a more general feel track about WW1.

@@mudshark5393 I'd say 100% I think of WW1 too when I hear trenches, who was the original artist?

@@Clouded_Reactions From what I found, it was Joakim that wrote the song by himself.
They toured with Apocalyptica, and I think that's when they came up with the collaboration idea...

You need to listen to the original version.
