Great review - question - does the NP5 support split over an external sound module, ie use both internal and external sound across a split point? I believe the Stage series supports this and Nord Electro 5, for some reason they removed this in Electro 6...
Question, can you split 4 individual zones? For example, I want in the lower section a bass sound (zone1) , than a piano also lower but not layered with that bass (Z2), than on the upper side a Rhodes sound (Z3) and finally a lead synth in zone 4. … is that possible?

Nord would be great for studio or the tonight show but l for ive the roland Rd 800 is my choice. Much more practical and user friendly. Allot to learn on a Nord
Great demo - thanks. Nord have the best sounding piano samples on the market. There are two things they (and every other digital piano manufacturer) could and should do to truly make their pianos a viable option for advanced classical players and truly equal an acoustic piano: Instead of the present 3 samples per note (taken at 3 different velocity levels), there should be at least 6. With just 3, there are always abrupt changes in timbre as velocity is increased only slightly. This happens with every digital piano on the market. It is not a problem (or noticeablel) in many contexts but is absolutely an issue for advanced classical playing. I'd also suggest trimming the beginnings of samples more aggressively. If playing really fast, virtuosic material, this is important. Although acoustic pianos have some degree of inherent mechanically induced latency, it is perceived very differently from the (say) 5ms on every note due to 'loose' (by my standards) sample trimming. None of this is to knock Nord. Nord make the best available digital pianos imo. But if the above two things were done it would mean a Nord piano would become a true alternative to an acoustic piano for classical pianists. That's a huge market! Most great classical pianists would not be able to determine exactly why playing their digital piano doesn't in any way approach the experience of playing their acoustic. But my unique background (not bragging here!) as both a teacher of advanced piano AND a synth programmer, multisample creator etc. allows me to do exactly that! Nord, please make a piano with my suggestions implemented! It would rock the classical world!
Yes - but this is a rock / popular music piano! Since it has neither a serious weighted keyboard or graduated sample series for classical music you'll need something much more serious: I quite like the Dexibell sound engine ...

Please don’t just hammer away in these demos!

hi tony, i currently play on a tyros 5 and play a lot with backing tracks in wav format. What other keyboard would you suggest that also plays WAv files and possibly has an internal hard Drive to store the wav files
Wow, what an amazing demo! Sounds really wonderful. One question, listening to the 'sample section demo's I notice you are using key transpose (+2). Why did you do it?
Digital or Hybrid pianos/kwyboards. Can do so much. The quality is so high now. That it makes owning an acoustic grand in a home kind of....a "waste of money". The approximation of sound is near spot on. Yamaha Hybrids able to mimic the Yamaha concert grand I think is the CRX?? or the Bosendorfer concert grand. Most people don''t have homes large enough to house a grand of any size and need to put the pianos near a wall (which is acoustically wrong). A digital/hybrid doesn't need to worry about room acoustics. And you can go silent pluging in headphones. Play any time and not disturb any one in or outside the home (neighboursf). And at a fraction of the cost. No need to re-enforce the floor to hold the weight of a semi-concert grand (900+ pounds add the weight of a few people standing around the piano)....so the room need to be able to hold mabye 1500-1800 pounds anywhere. What acoutic pianos can the Nord Piano 5 mimic? And the cost is $?USD?
I don’t think this one does. I know on my electro 6D I have maybe 3 organ sounds in the synth section (those could be on here) but definitely no B3 (rotary organ sounds) on the piano 5
so why would I buy this over the Nord Stage 3? What's the difference between the two? Seems to me the Stage 3 would have all this capability plus more. Are the sounds the same on the two keyboards? e.g., grand pianos..
I was curious about this when I was shopping for a Nord last year. The main difference is the Stage 3 has full synth capabilities and a full organ on top of the piano features (the Piano 5 has a sample synth). But because the Stage 3 is a Jack of all trades the keybed itself is lighter (to accommodate organ and synth players) while the Piano 5 has a much nicer weighted keybed and a superior action that I found far more enjoyable to play. I also prefer the simpler user interface on the Piano 5, less bells and whistles so it’s a lot more attractive. The Piano 5 is also cheaper but I think when you’re talking about instruments of this quality and cost, it should be function that makes the decision. If you need a keyboard that does everything then it’s the Stage, if you’re looking for predominantly a superb and attractive piano, then go for the Piano 5. I fell in love with the Piano 5 at first play, and when I tried a Stage 3 after I found the action really cheap feeling and underwhelming. So my decision was made! I’d advise trying them though as this is purely my opinion, and it is of course incredibly subjective. I watched a lot of videos and read a lot of articles but it wasn’t until I actually played them that I realised the difference.
Ps & yes all samples are the same across the Nord range, so the same pianos are available on each! The Stage has a lot more to its synth section and it also has the organ, which the Piano doesn’t (if that’s something that’s important to you).
@@adamsowter6976 Thanks.. pretty much what I assumed. I'm using a Korg PA1000 for live performance. I like the TC Helicon feature built-in - wish other boards would offer this - but, the Korg's pianos are weak and the key action is terrible. I guess you get used to anything after a while, but I'm always looking for the next keyboard.
That's what probably also all workstations can do, such as the Korg Nautilus, which is cheaper than this. But stage pianos, or how this can be probably classified, are more limited in this regard.
This is the best demo of Nord Piano 5 capabilities and sounds. Absolutely great presentation and fantastic music that was played very well indeed

so why would I buy this over the Nord Stage 3?
If you want the best relaibel lnfo and presentations on instruments tony is your man superb and amyzing always highly recommended ny me
How much ?
I want one so badly
tony, you look like a younger mark king of level 42 back in the 1980s
Nice keyboard, but OUCH! on the price...
…buy a cheaper one and let the others have this nice stage piano then…
@@fragu123 - Why thank you - done!
@@Snarkapotamus…with which board did you end up with?
@@fragu123 - I have an Akai MPK61..not a piano but works for what I need/want.
@@Snarkapotamus hope you enjoy it! :) - happy musical endeavours
Roland Integra-7 allows more than two layers, I believe up to 16 layers. What is then so special about the Nord Piano 5 with layering. Discuss !
That's what probably also all workstations can do, such as the Korg Nautilus, which is cheaper than this. But stage pianos, or how this can be probably classified, are more limited in this regard.
so nord piano 5 or nord stage 3
