You have got to check out old ACDC with Bon Scott singing----------Highway to Hell. I once got pulled over for speeding in the early 80's and the cop noticed I was listening to that song. Mid 70’s ACDC borrowed from contemporary artists and from the 60’s. They’ve stayed in the guitar riff based hard rock lane till this day, where other artists studies and gets inspired by them. Truly an institution of modern rock.

    A few things:
-AC/DC is in fact one of the pioneers of the classic rock genre, so good pick up on that they definitely do have some copy cats out there
-In general I prefer the studio versions of their songs, the lead singer was in his prime at the time of recording them and has a lot more energy and presence than you typically see in a modern live performance from him.
-Thunderstruck is one song from this band you defiantly need to check out, song is a timeless, absolute banger with one of the best guitar riffs ever.

Try some early songs with Bon Scott as lead singer, that's when they became famous around the world. Brian Johnson kept the fires burning and was an excellent replacement for Bon. Seeing Angus (the lead guitarist) doing circles on his back while ripping out a riff was unreal, one of a kind.

Bon will be allways the better front man, i have the HIGHEST respect for Brian, he is very very good. But unfortunatly, Bon was better.

@@steffenjonda8283 I really can't understand why People often saying Bon was better.
I´m 40 and too young to have seen AC/DC with Bon, I started listening to them when I was ~ 15, so around 1995 and Brian Johnson is the voice of the band for me.
When I hear a song with Bon Scot on YT, I always have the feeling: that doesn't fit, that's not the right voice. Technically, I also think Brian's voice is much better and, above all, unique.
Maybe I would understand if I had got to know AC / DC with Bon

    • @steffenjonda8283
      @steffenjonda8283 2 года назад +1

@@Tattoonation88 Brian is an incredible great Singer and Performer - you missed my point. I have the highest respect for him. It is just a fact that Bon was "better", not in the voice (here Brian is way better), but the performance as a frontman.
Think about Freddie... for sure he had one of the best voices in pop/rock music, but it was his personality, that shaped his fame and his position as the greatest frontman ever.
And Bon was similar (for me the clear Nr2 behind Freddie). He had that special aura, he was "the man". He WAS the music they performed. Brian is similar, but not in the same league.
If you listen to songs, played live by Bon and later by Brian, you could recognize this (small but important) difference.

One thing they do differently than most rock groups is that Malcom was a great rhythm guitarist and wrote many of the songs. The strong drumming and bass along with Malcom doing a lot of rhythm and melodic leads allowed Angus to play a searing lead and act as a second lead with the singer on stage. You won't find many groups like that and their shows are this energetic from start to finish. They do not have a "ballad" or slow song to take a break like other groups.

I will agree with AC-DC leading the charge in that respect!

AC/DC was one of the iconic early metal/hard rock bands. This song was the first track on their "Back in Black" album, which was the first one recorded with this lead singer, Brian Johnson. The previous lead singer died earlier in the year from an alcohol overdose. The band considered quitting, but the family of the late singer encouraged them to continue, and they found, who has the ability to distort his voice and sing in a very high range (on the studio albums). AC/DC is the band that so many of the 1980s "hair bands" want to be. They would love to have the power, the presence, and the sheer musical force of AC/DC, so they do the next best thing and try to copy them.
I have seen AC/DC in concert, and the thing I love about them is that they sound so amazing live. It's no surprise that the singer has a hard time getting through concerts as hard as he pushes his voice during live shows--I honestly don't know how he is able to even speak a single word after all these years.
If you want to see some good contrasts, I can recommend two more songs with this singer, "You Shook Me All Night Long" and "Thunderstruck." Then to hear Bon Scott (the original singer) and compare the vocals, you can listen to "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock & Roll)."

Ps the bell was 2000 lbs. bronze church bell.
Brian Johnson lead singer and Angus lead guitarist are rock and roll royalty.
Did you notice the size of the crowd?
I saw them live 6 times, there was so much energy in the stadium I could not sleep for 3 nights.
Have/could you do their song THUNDERSTRUCK?
    Thanks,

Have seen them 7 times, HUGE fan. "Live Wire" is my favorite of MANY AC/DC songs and the BEST version is from their Highway To Hell tour. It was filmed in Paris in 1979. Search for "ac dc live wire ltbr paris 1979" LTBR is for "Let There Be Rock" and it's the name of the video (they filmed the tour). Trust me, this version is the EPICENTER of the ESSENCE of AC/DC. There are not speakers made that can play it loud enough. BTW ... it's the opening song, INSANE way to open

High Voltage came out in 1975, and pretty much set the method of ACDC from there on...as for the position they started it ...it is hard to say, as Kiss also had early success and you can hear KISS in many bands that then made it big in the late 70's & early 80's. They surely were pioneers of their own sound, which was harder than southern rock & pop rock, but bluesier than heavy metal acts that followed like the Iron Maidens & Judas Priests of the world...I think they truly embody the meaning of heavy metal but are probably on the gradient closer to Rock and Roll than typical heavy metal bands. There were other rock n rollers who pushed a lot of influence as well, Ted Nugent as an example ...it is also hard to establish how much Punk injected influence into Heavy Metal. ACDC definitely has a piece of the pie. Though in this dissection, there is probably a group that could be said is Heavy Rock and not Heavy Metal given the degree of evolution today's Heavy Metal or even Metal has from the roots of whatever mix spawned it

Excellent pick up on them being an inspiration/forefather of a lot of the rock of that era. Not to say they didn't also have their influences of course, but AC/DC is a foundational pillar of classic rock. I gotta say give Long Way to the Top, You Shook Me All Night Long, Whole lotta Rosie a listen.

As a music nerd, there is no recovering from the rock rabbit hole bud. You're one of us now, even if you haven't realized it yet.
The talent in rock is beyond any other genre, period.
Have you encountered Floor Jensen yet from Nightwish? Try the live Ghost Love Score from Nightwish.
Then, try some Jinjer... seems Pisces live session is the cherry popper there.
In both of these examples the singer will overpower PERFECT performances by the band's instrumentalists.

Three Little Pigs by Green Jelly(formerly Green Jello until a lawsuit forced a name change).
Desert Walk by Southern Culture On The Skids
The entire catalogs of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Styxx, The Doors, The Birds, anyone with the last name Guthrie (not a joke), The Grateful Dead (a band whose fans know the dates of performances because thier live shit evolved along with the acid they took before getting on stage), Bruce Springsteen, Joan Jett, Black Sabbath....
There are quite simply, enough greats for you to spend 30 years making these videos.
