    Most popular sauce with Nuggets in Germany is Asian Sweet and Sour. And they do Ice Coffee in Germany, and all of Europe. It's Vanilla Ice cream with freshly made espresso coffee and topped with whipped cream. We do not dilute coffee with plain ice. It's blasphemy.

    • @trailblazinpeppers
      @trailblazinpeppers  2 года назад

      Yes we tried the sweet and sour sauce a few days ago and liked it too. Maybe Americans like iced coffee because they don't want to drink something hot when it is hot outside but they still want the taste of coffee and the caffeine. Thanks for the comment.

      @@trailblazinpeppers That's why here vanilla ice cream is the base ingredient in Eis Kaffee. If you get it in a Gelateria they have cold Espresso prepared to make the perfect Eis Kaffee in a jiffy.

    I will never understand why Americans 'drown' their Coke in ice. The drink stays cold long enough here anyway. Ice is water, and is also commonly described as 'profitine' 😉 Why should I pay for frozen water? By the way, at McD in Germany (and not only here) one cup of Coke costs a total of 8 Ct to produce. For what price do they sell it again? Great comparison btw...

    • @trailblazinpeppers
      @trailblazinpeppers  2 года назад +2

      Supposedly the colder the drink the lower the sensitivity of the taste buds making the drink not taste excessively sweet. Yes there is a lot of profit made in soft drinks. Thank you for the comment.

    • @Psi-Storm
      @Psi-Storm Год назад

      That's wrong. You can look up the prices for the Coca Cola Postmix Sirup they use to mix the drinks. In Germany you pay 90€ to mix 65L of Coke, so a 0,5L drink costs them 70 cent. Even if McDonalds gets a massive discount from Coca Cola, they pay around 50 cent for the large cup.

I think the spicy version is called Chicken Burger, which has the red sauce on it. the mcchicken comes with the white mayo type , but I havent been to mcdonalds in ages.

      I believe it costs extra to have bacon on the burger. The first time we got an eiskaffee in Germany it was a shock but also a pleasant surprise. Overall we like German McDonald's better. I am curious to try it in other countries in Europe and see the differences.

    You can get ice coffee, but for that, you should go to a real cafe, especially to an Italian one, in Germany. There, you will get coffee with ice cream in it. It might taste not like the stuff you are used to, but you can get addicted to that taste...

    • @trailblazinpeppers
      @trailblazinpeppers  2 года назад

      That sounds delicious. I have noticed that Coffee shops are not very common in Germany or at least around where we live. I guess it is more of an Italian thing.

    • @haselmaus8054
      @haselmaus8054 Год назад +2

      @@trailblazinpeppers I think You can get confused ... there is a big difference between ICED coffee (the us version) and ICE coffee (the european version). Basically ICED coffee is "just cold coffee" or "coffee with ice cubes" whereas ICE coffee is "coffee with ice cream".
      The german terms are "Eiskaffee" for ice coffee ... and "geeister Kaffee" for iced coffee (which is not very common or nearly unheared of in germany and mostly europe).
      Oh, and by the way ... in europe the "diet coke" is called "coke light" because it is not allowed to call it "diet" - so that people could / might assume it's healthy or even like medicine in some way. Free refills are rare because in europe restaurants generate their profit from the drinks - not from the meals. And You get ice in Your drink at McD and other fast food chains, but only 2 or 3 cubes. I personally get it without ice cubes, because the drinks are cooled and I don't want it watered down.
      And at last ... the paper straws ... that's because the European Union banned the plastic ones for environmental protection. You are right - the paper ones are awful. So I have a reuseable steel one in my car or I don't use one at all if I'm in the restaurant.

  • @m1ccey

    it depends on which mc.donalds you go here in germany. where i live, you'll get any coffee you want iced....
    At the drinks it's normally with 3-4 ice-cubes, but you can order without, or with more ice. Also you can choose from many different drinks beside the standards like Coke in all variations, Sprite, Fanta, Orange Juice, Water, Beer and different types of bottled Bio-Lemonade with taste of Cranberry, watermelon, lemon, plain black or grean tea and others. The mc.donalds here in germany has always 10 items for 99 cents each, some standard as the basic Hamburger and the Cheeseburger and some rotating on a weekly basis.
    The favourite sauce here is split about 40/40/20 in Barbecue and Sweet/Sour and Curry Sauce...., but there are also changing sauces depending on the season. So in autumn you might find a deer-burger with camembert, rucola-salad and cranberry sauce....

    I personally am very in favor of ice in drinks. I do it at home as well. So I guess I am American in that sense. One of the main reasons I think european's prefer less ice, is that we pay for the drink and putting ice in the glas is a restaurants way of increasing the profit margins on drinks even further, since you give customers water when they actually paid for a soft drink.

    • @trailblazinpeppers
      @trailblazinpeppers  Год назад

      That is true. One other thing I noticed is that Americans like ice because we often take our drinks to go and we want it to stay cold longer. Also another reason why we have styrofoam cups. In Germany I feel like the fastfood cups don't last as long and get soggy. Thanks for watching!

    I still remember the strange looks, when I ordered mayo for my fries during my exchange in the US decades ago!
    McDonalds should have ice for their drinks as do most most restaurants. But default when ordering a drink is no ice. So you have to ask for ice when ordering a drink!
    Did you never order a beer in a German McDonalds? 😁
    If you are really daring, you should try a Mettbrötchen from a local butcher shop!
    Mett = seasoned raw minced pork 😇 😄
    Fresh Mett from a butcher has to be eaten on the day it´s bought. But you can always fry it and use it in a pasta sauce or eat with some ketchup or mustard later on.

And there are no straws at all, the cup lid resembles a to-go coffee cup lid and it was a very pleasant experience. There are also "tanks" full of self-serve mayo and ketchup, with paper cups. We filled our mayo cup 5 times! Then again they get their money for that free stuff simply from the price of the food. 28Euros for two small burgers and one small fries and one drink. The small fries cost 4.20E.

    Plastic straws (and plastic cutlery, dishes, cups etc) are banned in the EU since July 2021, because they are bad for the environment. Three billion plastic straws go to the waste (or into nature) every day worldwide! But you are right, they are more pleasant to use than the paper ones, unfortunately.
    I think the drinking cups are bigger in the US because more than half of the content consists of ice. The actual amount of soda may be at least the same.

    • @trailblazinpeppers
      @trailblazinpeppers  2 года назад +1

      Yes we have started to use our own reusable straws instead of the paper ones. That's a good point as to why they are bigger in the US.
