Sarah had a stroke, during an English lesson at school, when she was 18 years old. She suffers from Broca's aphasia, because the communication part of her brain was damaged. She works to try to raise awareness of stroke and aphasia - most people associate stroke with older people, but approx.400 people in the UK under the age of 18 have a stroke each year. Of the 150 000 people in the UK who suffer a stroke annually in the UK, about a third will have aphasia - a communication disability. If you'd like to invite Sarah to talk to students or to raise awareness of stroke and aphasia - please get in touch.
