Actually, these are kapok trees, another name is called Java cotton tree, because these tree pods are densely packed with silky cotton, great for bedding pillow stuffing. Theses tree pods do look very much like the ears of corn, from the shape, size, color, and weight. The gel gum from these Java cotton trees are known to be edible.
🌸 I know this beautiful tree very well, in Trinidad it’s known as Ceiba Trees and also commonly known as Silk Cotton tree, however the locals are very superstitious about the older trees due to ceremonies done on certain ones. I wish they were not afraid of it and saw beautiful splendour of the tree, it can grow to enormous width & height. My mom was born there but later left as child to have further education in UK. I had pleasure of growing up on this island as a girl to teen and saw a wide range of beautiful trees and plants normally associated with South America. It’s because Trinidad eons ago was part of South American but broke off. It’s only island that has a tropical rainforest and rich soil for numerous vegetation. Plus they had another benefit, just after slavery the British sought indentured labourers from Indian & a wide range of Indians from all over Indian went there for new life. They were given an option at end of contract to either take money or land and stay. It’s unique because they were allowed to bring vegetation from East and they planted trees, shrubs, herbs etc of all description. We had fruits you normally found in eastern tropical places. It is paradise in more ways than one because of the people that live there are from all over the world so they call it the rainbow island in old days. They are the sweetest temperament & it’s only place you will find Hinduism, Muslims & Christianity getting along together in harmony. My aunt is Hindu & she married a Muslim chap. I’ve never seen peace like this within such different religions groups. Must be the Caribbean life ☺️

The banana looked to be fried in rice flour thickened with chia seeds.
The gum looked like it was in sweetened condensed milk and ice.
@@charlanpennington3989 graines de chia j'y ai pas pensé. J'ai crû que c'était des graines de pavot. Merci
Thanks for sharing this awesome video I really enjoyed it 😀😊
Что они только не жрут. Это жесть, даже то что к дереву прибито, отдирают и едят.
Вы знаете что это? Я не поняла.
То ли гриб,то ли моллюск из лужи,то ли смола какая-то каучуковоподобная
Смола персикового дерева
Food in the outdoors must be so much fun

Beautiful video to watch and learned something new. I'll have to look for this peach gum next time I'm going in an Asian grocery store. I did think about that pond/lake behind her. I have one behind my house and some alligators snuck in after a hurricane last year. Scared the living daylights out of me when I saw a 6ft and 5footer swim by when the pond grew into a lake. I kept looking for a crocodile or something coming up behind her.
Boa tarde, eu gostaria de saber como se chama isso que você tirou do tronco da árvore e preparou para comer achei interessante. ⚘
Eu também fiquei super curiosa pra saber 😁
Yo también ☹️
