Yep. These people are pros who've been picking mushrooms in their areas since forever; they know what they're doing. If I were to attempt the same I'd poison myself on the first mushroom I'd pick. Those who don't know what you're doing should just learn to grow your own mushrooms in a contained environment first. I recommend oyster mushrooms, because they're among the easiest to grow.

I think people should dig up at least one mushroom if there is any doubt on identification, because there could be important traits around the base of the mushroom (volva or its remains, color of mycelium at the base). some of the poison agaricus mushrooms stain yellow only at the very bottom of the base, which you will not see if you cut the mushroom off. after people are certain, and if there are no poison look alikes then they should harvest by cutting as you suggest.

The beauty of living in village nearby hilly areas is better than living in any town areas , after seeing this video I miss my village where I have spended my days with my family members and collecting all those mushrooms along with my yonger brothers...
